Albertine is situated in a beautiful garden setting covering approximately a quarter acre just off the Rue Du Petit Fort one of Dinan's prettiest pedestrianised streets, the garden covers approximately a quarter acre and is on three levels linked by a spiral staircase and stone steps. Each garden has its own special appeal and offers stunning views over the rooftops of Dinan and to the hillside beyond.Restaurants, bars, creperies, theatre, specialist shops, bus and train stations all close by. Lively historic port with boat hire and waterside walks. Sandy beaches, Dinard (airport) St Malo (ferry port within 30 minutes drive. Don't forget the Fete des Ramparts, a medieval feast of Drama and entertainment held every two years , the next one is from 22 July 2023 to23 July 2023 Please contact the owner for a discount on Brittany Ferries Crossings.

Simply Superb

Superlatives are needed to give an accurate idea of how wonderful Robyn's gite is. The location just outside the walls and a few minutes walk to the main town or the port make it perfect for enjoying all that Dinan has to offer. The gîte is beautifully decorated and comes with all the amenities you could want. Robyn supplies a welcome bottle of wine and home made muffins which are a lovely touch. Parking is free and available close by. The crown jewels are the magnificent garden and outdoor seating to take advantage of the views of roses and ancient walls. I cannot recommend staying here strongly enough.

Ideal location

Starting with welcoming cake and jam from Robyn and Molly, we enjoyed this ideal location halfway between the historic walled city of Dinan above, and the Port of Dinan on the river below. We enjoyed a range of walks and bike rides on the bikes on loan from the cottage, along the river and up the valley to neighbouring towns. And the lovely three-tiered garden to recuperate from the steep hills with a cool drink and panoramic view. Highly recommended.

All expectations exceeded

We booked Albertine Cottage for a week towards the end of a six week tour of France. We chose Dinan largely because of its location in relation to many sights including Mont Saint Michel but five minutes after our arrival, we realised that we had happily happened onto a real gem. For a start, the accommodation is as comfortable and beautiful as promised by the website photos but you can't appreciate a setting like a medieval film set until you are in it; and the gite is right in the middle of all this! The website didn't mention the friendly, supportive welcome that you get from Robyn and Ross and their beautiful fluffy dog, Molly. We had done enough homework to know Dinan is in a wonderful position, but we didn't realise until Robyn and Ross opened our eyes to a wealth of other attractions. Our favourite destinations, other than Le Mont Saint Michel, were day trips to Jersey, St Malo, the D Day beaches and Caen, Bayeaux, the oysters at Cancale, the walk to Léhon, the battlements around Dinan and the markets, particularly at Rennes. Suffice to say, we stayed two weeks and we are planning to return.

Albertine

Great compact apartment for two in a delightful garden setting, located in a beautiful street in the old part of Dinan approximately 100 metres from the old port and within easy walking distance from some very good restaurants. The apartment is very well equiped with excellent bed and high quality linen and towels. Free parking is available less than 100 metres from the apartment. Owner was very welcoming and a great souce of information on eating places and day touring destinations. A bonus was the delightful little Molly (the dog). Highly recommended.

Maybe the best Holiday Home in Brittany

We had an amazing time in Dinan. You feel all the love and passion Robyn is giving in this place and we are so thankful to be able to live here for a week. The house and the garden are so beautiful and Robyn cared so much, she just made it perfect. We would love to come back again.

Un petit coin de paradis

Excellent séjour, le cadre est magnifique. Le jardin est de toute beauté. Robyn est une hôtesse discrète et aux petits soins, confiture et muffins maison, une bouteille de vin au frais nous avons été choyés. Dinan est une très jolie destination.

Bon séjour à Dinan

Le gîte de Robynest un petit coin de paradis dans un jardin magnifique. Il est très bien équipé tout y est ! Il y a même, entre autre, des peignoirs ! Nous avons été accueillis avec de très bon muffins faits maison et une très bonne confiture de framboise faite maison également c’est très bien situé dans une ville tout aussi magnifique. Nous recommandons sans problème.

Garden paradise in charming old town

Our cottage was lovely, comfortable, and well-appointed. The hosts are gracious. The gardens, on multiple levels, are spectacular. Perfect places for enjoying a drink, a book, and views. The location is within a few minutes walk of both the port and old city.

Everything was thoughtfully organised in the apartment and the garden is a lovely peaceful retreat. Great location in the town and near the river for walking and cycling. Advise parking at the top of the hill if you can as its tricky manoevring on the hill. Thank you Robyn.

Wonderful stay in a quaint secret garden

We loved our stay in this comfortable accomodation. Her garden inside the walled area is so beautiful and delightful to sit in and relax. We even used the barbeque one evening as the weather was amazing. Robyn is an amazing host and gives far more than is expected of her time and in what she provides for her guests ( muffins and wine on arrival). The setting is so convenient to explore Dinan, as is it literally in the middle of town on one of the cobbled roads. The only down, if it is a down is that the parking is extremely steep and is tight. We walked everywhere in Dinan and then hired bikes nearby and cycled on the Voie Vert to St Malo and Dinard and then the opposite way down the river as well and loved it. We also explored the coast for a day.

Truly a Hidden Treasure

Our stay in Dinan was perfect in every way. The cottage is within a walled, natural Boulder enclosed garden, shared with one other charming cottage, and is completely private. The gardens are truly beautiful and well tended by Robyn, our hostess. There is a deck with round table and large umbrella so even with rain guests can sit outside. A winding staircase leads to the upper gardens, also very beautiful l. Inside, the cottage is beautifully appointed and very modern. For our arrival Robyn baked delicious raspberry muffins. There was a bouquet of fresh picked roses and a bottle of chilled white wine in the fridge. Our hosts, Robyn, Ross, and their precious little dog Molly couldn't have been nicer or more helpful, without being intrusive in any way. Their property is right in center old town Dinan, and just a short walk to the quay, filled with restaurants and docks with interesting boats. Dinan is fascinating with its 13th and 14th century buildings. Just by serendipity we were there during Dinan's Medieval Festival, a high spirited, interesting festival. Robyn and Ross helped us get tickets to the Jousting competition, a pageant of excellent horsemanship and superb horses. Our stay with the Hogans in Dinan was far too short and we hope to return soon. Everyone of the 5 stars is deserved. Debbie and Len Saner U.S.A.

We are a couple originally from New New Zealand and after leaving there decided to come to France.We loved the town of Dinan with it,s wonderful Medieval feel and the proximity to the glorious beaches and coastline.We have been hosting since 2011 and have enjoyed meeting guests from all over the world

Albertine and Jasmine are situated in a completely walled private garden in one of Dinan,s prettiest streets.The two gardens offer peace and quiet after a day of sightseeing. The apartment is equipped with everything you need, including linen,all cooking utensils, pots pans cutlery, china , glassware etc etc. English and French TV and wifi. Also included are oils, vinegar, salt, pepper, tea, milk, coffee,bathrobes, outdoor furniture gas BBQ. A welcome bottle of wine on arrival plus homemade jam and muffins. .
Albertine has been decorated to a very high standard with comfortble furnishings.
All shops and restaurants are reachable on foot. Also the Port is only a 5 minutes walk away with it,s river, restaurants and walks along the towpath. St Malo, Dinard, Dol de Bretagne, le Mont St Michel are popular destinations for our guests. We can assure you of a wonderful stay here in beautiful Dinan.
