The city of Tahlequah, located 20 minutes away and is part of the "Green Country" region of Oklahoma and was established as the capital of the 19th century Cherokee Nation in 1893, as part of the new settlement in Indian Territory after the Trail of Tears. The current and present Cherokee Complex can be toured as well as the old court house, cultural center, old jail, art galleries, restaurant and gift shops. While there is much history to see and experience, the town of Tahlequah also offers movie theaters, live theater, a jazz lab, 2 golf courses, antiques, quaint parks, casino, shopping, antiques, restaurants and coffee shops. Tahlequah is also home to Northeastern State University and has that college vibe on the north end of town.

Another one of Tahlequah's biggest outdoor attractions is the scenic Illinois River, which is home to over 60 miles of breathtaking landscapes. Floating is one of the biggest recreational activities available. Depending on your preference, you may float by raft, kayak or canoe.

Some friends and I stayed here for a Memorial Day Weekend. Chuck and Vickie baked cookies for our check-in and were incredibly prompt in answering questions over text. The outdoor spaces were incredible with plenty of seating and activities. Would highly recommend staying here and having coffee on the back porch with friends and family! Plenty of space for the 12 family members that came.
Plenty of space for everyone. Only 2 of the master bedrooms had TVs. There was drafts in parts of the house which made it harder to keep it warm once people start going outside, etc. Enjoy the stay and it was close to a Walmart, etc. Everyone like the house.

Fifth year in a row to stay here!
My family is been staying at this property for 5 years in a row now and it’s always one of the highlights of our summer! The house is huge so there’s plenty of room for 4 families if not more. It is very well stocked. You can always find any size pan you need or cooking utensil, etc. We feel spoiled after staying here! They have kayaks that come with the rental and this was the first year we tried them out and we really enjoyed it! We have so much fun at this house, we’re planning on doing a girls weekend there this fall!

“Love” the property owners!
The first night there was a thunder storm that caused a power outage. Mr. Love was in touch with us and worked tirelessly to get our problem solved. He even offered to buy our whole family breakfast! The property and house were immaculate, nicely furnished, and fully stocked with supplies. One of the best rentals and owners we’ve experienced! Highly recommend!

Family Christmas at the Bay House on Tenkiller
This was our second time to stay at the Bay House for family Christmas. We found the house as beautiful and comfortable as last year, and spotlessly clean. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking for a crowd, the play area was a plus for the littles, and we all enjoyed the fire pit and s'mores. Vickie is a wonderful hostess and responds quickly to texts/emails.

A place like home.
This was the perfect location for our families to get together. As soon as you drive up you see a large, beautiful space that is fenced in with a children's playset, basketball goal, and firepit inviting you for the funtivities. When you walk in you are welcomed by peaceful music and the aroma a freshly baked cookies that are waiting to be eaten on the kitchen counter. The rooms where perfectly arranged with pullout sofa's that made sleeping with children very easy. The children loved playing outside while we the adults could relax and enjoy conversation on the front/back patios knowing we could still see them playing and the occasional deer trotting through. A large dinning table in the Kitchen made the family meals more enjoyable as we all feast. Once dinner was over the adults cleaned while the children discovered the treasure trove of toys and activities in the living room closet. Once the children finally played themselves to a deep sleep, the dining table and firepit became the perfect game night locations for the adults to fill the sky with laughter. The sunsets would call the adults to the back patio to unwind with a glass of wine and a puzzle. Towards the end of our stay the washer and dryer proved very useful to clean out any of the messy funtivities from clothes that didn’t need to be remembered. As you read this review you might think it is cheesy but it’s hard not to be when you are so filled with happiness from the best vacation home we have stayed at so far. We will defiantly be making this trip a tradition and can’t wait till next year. Thank you so much to the owners for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home to start this amazing tradition.

This was a very nice house, and was nicely furnished and decorated. It was very well stocked with all of the amenities one could hope for. Our large family easily fit on the big deck and we were glad there were almost no insects to bother us and our weather was great the whole time, except for one small rainshower. We enjoyed our stay. Thanks for renting out your beautiful house.

What a VACATION!!!
We had the best time staying at Chuck and Vickie’s place!!! We came to to float the river and hit the lake and the location of the home was just perfect! The home was very clean, and had anything and everything you might need! My favorite was the fire pit! We made tons of memories sitting around fire listening to music after a day in the sun! They have thought of everything!! They have all the extras like the board games, and the little tikes car for the toddler, plenty of toiletries, and all the kitchenware!! We had a total of 10 of us 4 adults and 6 kids! This house was super for our group! Let me tell you chuck and Vickie are the most thoughtful and sincere people!!! We made all the memories and can’t wait to go back and make more!

We have been at the Bay House for 32 years, raised our family here and enjoyed this beautiful area. When we became empty nesters we opted for a smaller place, but wanted others to be able to experience our little piece of paradise. We hope you will consider staying here and vacationing. There is so much see and do. We would love to host you.

Why they chose this property

We often came from Kansas to this area to vacation on the Illinois River and Lake Tenkiller. It had the best of both worlds. We love floating the river and boating on the lake. We knew this was where we wanted to live. We purchased this house and over the years the house was remodeled and became much more spacious and family accomodating. We have put a lot of work into our yard and created a well maintained park-like environment. Its just a great place to relax and enjoy family and friends.
