Family Hiking

Our family loved this cabin!! It was absolutely immaculate as far as cleanliness. We made sure to tell the cleaning lady as we were packing up. The cabin itself was just what we needed. Close to trails and town, plenty of kitchen supplies for cooking breakfast, enough space to not feel cramped with all of us. There’s not a thing I would change!! The kids also loved the wild turkeys that would frequent the yard.

Trip to Pictured Rock

Very nice place. Would highly recommend this place if you want to hike around Pictured Rock. It is ideally located.

Catchin Crickets Cabin

We had a great 2 night stay at this cabin. Very clean and great location close to all the hiking trails we had planned to visit. Outside grill was nice for coming back after a long hike and being able to cook dinner. Enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and having access to buy wood right next door at the campground was convenient. Overall a great vacation spot.

Rustic Hidaway at Picture Rocks

We so enjoyed our stay at the Counting Crickets Cabin! It is updated, cozily decorated, very well equipped and oh so CLEAN!! Add in the closeness to many area attractions yet very private, an open area amidst wild flowers to star gaze at night, and you have a WONDERFUL place for 3 generations of family to enjoy each other! Perfect for our family.

The house was perfect. It was clean and well stocked with everything you could need. Everyone was able to have their own room and there was plenty of space to hang out in the main living area. It was quiet and restful. It was well located and easy to get to town and the near by sights. We would definitely come again.

Awesome!

We had a terrific time and it was in large part due to our accommodations! Everything was great… the yard is large with plenty of room for frisbee and wiffle ball. There was firewood for purchase nearby at a reasonable rate. The inside of the cabin was perfect for our needs… spacious and had all amenities. Highly recommend!

Very nice

We have a very nice stay at your place. We had our family with us for hiking in the UP. Everything was very clean and ready for guests. Nice area with the campground next door. Even had the pleasure? of seeing a bear in the front yard one morning. Yikes! Would stay again. Thank you!

Catching Crickets

Loved the Catching Crickets cabin!! It had everything our family needed for the long weekend and it was very peaceful. The cabin was the perfect distance from everything we wanted to do, go to the beach, golf or go to the Bear Trap. We will definitely be booking again.

Very nice, clean place!

We loved this place! We were pleasantly surprised by a bottle of wine and some chocolates on the table when we arrived. It was clean and well stocked with kitchen tools and appliances, dish soap, hand soap, TP, paper towels and kitchen and bathroom towels.. There was a huge area for parking, a nice outdoor table and chairs and picnic table and firepit. The area was quiet (except our first night some people were setting off fireworks at 11 -12 pm - not sure if it was from the nearby campground or neighbors, it was the weekend before the 4th of July so somewhat expected). The house is new and in great shape and the beds were comfortable. We had 7 adults in our group and we fit comfortably for a short stay (3 days, 4 nights). The only complaint by some in our group was that the bedroom blinds let in a lot of light in the early morning and it would have been nice to have blackout or darker blinds or curtains, plus they are see through so you don't want to be getting undressed at night with the light on because the neighboring campers can see you. Other than that it was a beautiful, wonderful place in the UP. Very close to Pictured Rocks and Munising. We had a wonderful time staying there and would definitely stay there again or recommend it to others!

The house has everything you need. Super clean and plenty of space. The door lock as a bit of a challenge but I called the property owner and they helped resolved the issue right away.

Winter trip

We had a great time staying in Shingelton. Cute cabin with everything we needed. We rented snowmobiles or sleds from Munising for 3 days. It was a short ride and the trail led into the main trails. We had a ton of snow during our stay 18”. Scott was great at keeping our drive clean and easily accessible.

Five Star Stay for Winter Vacation

We stayed for three nights. The house was ver spacious, clean and well stocked. Beds were comfortable, living room, dinning area and kitchen was great. Snow was plowed during our stay from the driveway. Checkin / Checkout was very easy, and the hosts were great and very responsive through out the processs. Thanks

Great location, cute cabin!

We rented Catching Crickets with another couple and it was perfect. The cabin was nicely furnished and the kitchen well stocked. We loved that it was so private and it had plenty of parking space as well. We would definitely stay here again!

My husband and I both grew up in the U.P. We wanted to provide a top-notch vacation rental for others to enjoy all of the beauty that surrounds us. In 2016 we began construction of our dream. We put the finishing touches on it in May of 2017 and began renting it out in June of 2017.

Why they chose this property

Catchin' Crickets Vacation Rental is the perfect location to enjoy all the Pictured Rocks area has to offer. It's not located right in town, but close enough to the wonderful sights, you don't have to spend a ton of time driving. There is a restaurant and bar conveniently located 1 mile north. There is also a small grocery store, for basic grocery needs, and restaurant & gas 4 miles south.

What makes this property unique

There were no shortcuts taken when building this beautiful vacation home. We wanted to provide a comfortable place for people to enjoy, in style. Whether it was the handcrafted railing, or the local artwork, details were very important. You will find several different types of tongue & groove on the walls: cedar, ash, & pine. All of the natural light makes the vacation rental bright and inviting. Guests will be impressed with the "stone wall" and fireplace in the living room. Adequate seating was a high priority. Our vacation rental can accommodate 10 guests. You will find a large dining room table with seating for 10 available.
