About this property

Craypot Cottage - Getaway from town or city. Beachfront cottage.

A cute cottage on a 1.85 hectare property very private (we live in the main house on the other side of the property)
Relax in a rural setting lots of trees expansive lawn and a short stroll down a path to the beach and rock pools at low tide. (sandy swimming beach 5 mins drive) Great for star gazing on a clear night.
Riversdale Beach has a store with basic groceries, burgers, takeaways, coffee,wine, and beer.
There is a new cafe at Homewood open Friday to Sunday well worth the 15 min drive.
We love our special place in paradise and love sharing a unique part of New Zealand with others. A number of interesting garden artworks can be seen in the large rustic garden.
Castlepoint is a 40 minute drive away - the lighthouse can be seen flashing at night from the property.
Craypot Cottage is situated on a working farm so please follow the signs regarding driving very slowly through the yards and 30 km elsewhere to safeguard animals and keep down dust in dry weather.
Riversdale Beach has lovely walks along the beach and walkways up hills wandering through the new subdivision and south beach walkway for those wanting a decent climb.
Special conditions:
Rural property. No oven but great microwave and electric cooktop. BBQ at the cottage under cover. Washing machine available at main house for long stays.

Extras: Please leave the cottage as you found it. Empty fridge and take away all food and rubbish.

Charming and restful
We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage offers a great garden for kids to play in. It's a lovely place surrounded by nice walks to the beach.

Lovely bach with beautiful views
Cosy and comfortable bach with wonderful sculpture on the property and friendly hosts. Lovely to wake to the sound of magpies one day and a beautiful sunrise the next. A great place to relax and read books. Friendly local shop owners too

Beautiful and peaceful location
This was the perfect spot to relax and unwind. Just birdsong and the sound of the sea, and a fabulous night sky. The cottage was comfortable & warm, and had everything we needed. It feels secluded, being at one end of the property, though with a view of the sea. We enjoyed our walks on the deserted beach. Pip was easy to communicate with & quick to respond. We loved our stay there and will be back.

Peaceful gem
This is a fabulous spot, tranquil, superb views out to the ocean, nestled into a patch of bush with grassy lawn on two sides. The owners live nearby, and are attentive and generous if you need anything, but otherwise totally unobtrusive. The bach is simply equipped, no frills, but it's all you need. The beach out the front is quite wild and rocky, not a great swimming beach but excellent for walking, and Riversdale beach is only 2km away. We would definitely come back here for a holiday again.

We stayed for a work retreat owners are awesome very friendly. We Also enjoyed the open space was nice and relaxing. So many things to do Relax on bean bags star gazing or a game of giant connect 4. Me and my family enjoyed it and will most definitely stay again. Thanks for the Seafood too we really appreciate that little touch of hospitality awesome x

This place is amazing! The hosts amazing!! Location amazing!! We had fantastic weather, did some fishing, caught a fish. Then a storm amazing watching the lightening accross the sea. Seriously much needed break and the place was just perfect!

Felt very spoiled met with fresh crayfish and Strawberries, thankyou Pip. A wonderful spot for a peaceful and relaxing weekend. We admired all the decorations and handmade sculptures and enjoyed the beachwalk into town. Would definitely look to book again.

Craypot cottage is a tranquil gorgeous haven by the sea … the hospitality was tremendous with hot lemon loaf to welcome us, the stunning views and easy access for beach walks in the evening… the place is perfect .
