Hilltop 10 acre Cabin Retreat Getaway - WiFi!

Very cozy, rustic, Native American themed cabin. 3 rooms - all queen beds. Master has full bath, with a full bath in between the other 2 rooms. Shampoo, linens, body wash provided. All essential amenities at your fingertips. NEWLY PAVED DRIVEWAY.

Stocked utensils in kitchen and open living room with large glass door overlooking landscape. No cable BUT over 500 DVDs to choose from, just like Netflix, Prime and Disney all in one! Kick up your feet and relax in the lounger, couch, or rocking chair, play some board/ card games and enjoy the company! Outdoor games also available!

The front porch has a swing and rocking chairs, a lovely place to watch the hummingbirds flutter. Huge back deck with two sets of patio furniture, a great place to have a beverage, take in the sunset, search for deer and other wildlife.

Also we just got WiFi! But you can still pretend like its 1995 and talk to each other!! Slow down, and reconnect.

Note: The driveway is rather steep with a sharp turn at the top. 4-wheel drive is recommended in winter.

There is a large field on the main road where you can play baseball or soccer. Festivals are held at the fairgrounds during certain months. Also, 20 minutes from the cabin, heading toward Romney there is a large river on the right (South Branch Potomac River) where you can go tubing, fishing or picnic.

Summarize: No shoes in house, no smoking, no pets, set temp gauge to 65 in winter, 74 in summer, put things back where you found them, put all DVDs back in cases, turn off all lights, run the dishwasher (don't leave dirty dishes), strip bed sheets, lock door and put key back in lockbox.

Accidents happen! So any damages that may occur during your stay must also be reported ASAP. You will be charged for any broken items, damages to flooring, dressers, furniture, appliances etc...

Please be respectful. This is not just a rental, it is my late father's home. We must be diligent, communicative, honest and responsive in order to correct any mishaps and keep our cabin in great condition!

Sister Trip

We have stayed at the cabin four times now. Never have any problems or if we need anything or have a question. Homeowner always answers right away. It wasn't as clean upon arrival just this time but were refunded for that and I'm sure it won't happen again. Cant wait to go back

Perfect getaway!!!

I can’t say enough great things about this property. The best way I can describe it is it felt like home . The location is secluded and quiet and super easy to get to . Very clean and the beds were comfy. If you like to relax and watch a movie in the evening, there are literally hundreds .

Disconnected getaway!

Great place to disconnect from the world and reset! Perfect for a family of older kids. Lots of dvds and board games! We had a great time!

Mineral county cabin

The cabin was exactly what we were looking for. It was very clean and my kids loved the vast selection of movies. The directions provided were very clear and the pizza place suggested was delicious. The whole family had a great time.

Are y well u looking for down time and enjoy nature, this is the place

This was our experience, it was so peaceful we could hear the grass hoppers flitting, bird wings flapping. Scenery awesome. Watched the moon go down behind the mountains like the sun from the bedroom amazing. Did not know history of Ft Ashby but found it very interesting. Town of Romney the same. Definitely want to go back again. Couldn't believe we found such a unique place to stay!!

Cozy Cabin

The description of the property is accurate. The cabin was very clean. Nice place to relax and take in nature. My only suggestion is another lamp in the living room.

Perfect getaway

House situated in the woods and we enjoyed this peaceful area. The single level open floor plan is perfect. All the amenities, including washer and dryer, are a great plus. Owners were very responsive and helpful with any questions. We enjoyed our stay.

Mountain Paradise

Beautiful mountain setting with pristine cabin. Comfortable sleeping, well supplied. Loved watching the birds and seeing the whole Milky Way. Perfect place to relax and recharge. Appreciated how responsive and helpful the Host is! Can't wait to go back next year!

Weekend Getaway

Fun weekend spent at this great log cabin in WV. The cabin was very clean and comfortable, with tons of DVDs to watch if needed. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and were also there to take the Western MD Scenic Train Ride with our family, which was a lot of fun. Fort Ashby is a quiet little town and we enjoyed staying there.

Cozy Mountain Cabin

This is a true hunting cabin. No wifi. In the middle of the woods. Washed out unpaved roads lead to the cabin so ensure your vehicle is capable of handling this pending the weather. Bees nest under the front porch made entry difficult. If you’re looking for an outdoorsy experience this is it.

Placece was clean and in a beautiful area. Recommend vehicle with 4 wheel drive to make trip up the driveway, but it is not to difficult if you don't. If you like peace and quite this is the place to be.

Good Getaway

Overall a nice place to relax view is gorgeous. The roads to get there and the driveway are pretty horrible. They also don't have wifi and the cell signal is not great. We were also accused of damages we did not do and were charged an extra $250.

We really liked the cabin, but to be honest; even though I loved the fact that the cabin is deep in the woods; and you can enjoy the stars and the tranquility; but unfortunately I must say that you have to drive a lot to find lakes or things to do; there is no wifi, no cable; not many board games; I really think the cabin and location are more for people who enjoy hunting! not for families with children and teenagers.

Three day stay.

The cabin was first of all very clean. Furniture and beds were quite comfortable. Had an accommodating deck and porch. The cabin is by itself on a dead end road. However I think the new power lines that cut out trees and went behind it changed how it feels. Didn't leave enough trees close by to get that cabiny feel. Very quiet atmosphere except for the cicadas. It had a lot of amenities such as dishwasher, washer and dryer and comfortable seating. It was close enough to enjoy the Cumberland and greenridge Forest areas.

Road conditions

The road leading to the house needs a lot of work on it. An SUV with all wheel drive got stuck in the ditch,we had a have a tow truck come out the remove it. The truck driver stated that this wasn't the first time removing vehicles from this location.. I don't understand if you have hummingbird feeders outside and fill them with the liquid why do you have to empty them before leaving and then you hang them back out without liquid in them. Otherwise it was a great place and location.

Beautiful Cabin Getaway

I can’t stress enough that the pictures do not do this place justice - the views were incredible, area just secluded enough, and the cabin - beautiful and you can tell there’s some strong history in the walls. Spent most of the time on the balcony watching the stars or the birds fly by. Owner was extremely helpful and communicative. Everything was clean and perfect inside and out, kitchen and bathroom stocked, comfortable beds - we will definitely be back soon. When John Denver sang “almost heaven, West Virginia” - he was talking about this place! Also, for Verizon we had service to talk and text no problem (data was extremely slow but usable if we really needed it), but AT&T had nothing.

Amazing!!

Gorgeous cabin! Super clean and spacious, it had everything we needed and more. The view from the deck is beautiful. The location was perfect, private and very secluded. Beautiful scenery throughout the area tons of mountains and rolling hills with many streams. Great for taking walks or just driving around. Great communication with owner, very helpful! Note that there is no wifi and that if you have T-Mobile you won't have any cell service. My boyfriend has Verizon and he got okay service. Overall our stay was great. Would definitely love to come back! Thank you Courtney!

Mother of two, boy age 13, girl age 3. Married on September 28, 2019. Live in Fredericksburg VA, with a full time telework position as a contractor with the Coast Guard. Love the outdoors and have spent many years visiting the cabin.

Why they chose this property

My father built this cabin in 2004. It was his primary residence until he passed away in Maryland at my sister's home. I took over the deed and have been paying two mortgages for 2 years. We finally decided, after a lot of thought and care to list the property to help offset cost and share our love of it with others. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

What makes this property unique

Hunting permitted on our 10 acres - 10 more acres available at my uncles across the hill if interested. Just let me know before hand to coordinate.

No need for exercise equipment, just walk (or run) up and down the driveway a few times, it's killer!
