About this property

Un endroit pour se détendre, jouer et rêver! / A place to relax, play & dream!

Grandiose country home in a remote location in Quebec an hour north of Ottawa. Lakes, nature walks, boating, biking, ATV and skidoo trails, swimming, relaxation with sauna, outdoor shower, firepit, hammocks, and plenty of space to sit and read a good book. Enjoy a healthy and hardy breakfast menu with fresh eggs from free range chickens. Most food is home made and ingredients sourced from local farmers. We provide gourmet breakfast menu choices prior to your stay. Non alcoholic cocktails are also provided upon your arrival. You tell us what you want ahead of your stay, we cook, we clean and you enjoy your home away from home. Indoor & outdoor games and equipment avail to use at no extra charge. Each season offers something special. Please note our rates - They are per room with a maximum of 2 adults per room. Additional adult will pay 50% of the cost of the room should you wish to have 3 adults in the room. Children under 0 are free however only if they stay with their parents in the same room. Full room fee will be applied should you wish for your children to have their own room. We also have a loft area that sleeps four. Room and meal charges will apply for each additional adult and children over 10. Can accommodate 6 guests (maximum 6 adults). We are more than happy to accommodate guest with small children, however there are certain rules that must be followed to ensure your stay is a pleasant one and to maintain the property in good order. We have the most amazing outdoor park for children with a 30' inground trampoline. Please refer to rules.

Warmth and Hospitality in Gatineau
We're a tough crowd with wheelchair accessibility and dietary requirements (many Veg in the crowd) and Gail was outstanding from the beginning. She suggested great meal options, and was also able to make dinner for us during our stay to make it truly a relaxing experience. Gail is an excellent chef, and went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. She also prepared an amazing sauna experience on both nights, we loved it and slept very well afterwards! The beds were very comfy and the place was spotless and very tastefully decorated even with some of Gail's own refurbished antiques. To top it off Gail arranged a face to face meeting with a local celebrity in the arts to speak to our daughter who shared common interests. Not to mention the care package at the end. We loved sharing stories and the entire experience, and will definitely stay in touch with Gail in future. Thank you! Chris, Nina, Alea, Eva & Lara

A Lovely Bed and Breakfast

The online description properly reflects what is offered at the Auberge. The food was very good and abundant. There is no need to worry about a lunch. The hosts are very welcoming and attentive. It was a real treat to stay there.

Gail and Marc are wonderful and generous hosts in this beautiful auberge. The food was exquisite, and Gail also went out of her way to accommodate my need for gluten-free and dairy-free meals. The beds were so comfortable and the inn is very tastefully decorated. We also enjoyed the benefits of the sauna! I would highly recommend, and we will certainly be back!

Gail and Marc continually went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and relaxed! They continually engaged with our children and bent over backwards for all of us! Girls Weekend at Auberge Chalimar
This is the second time I have stayed at Gail's Auberge and it was just as delightful as the first! I am already planning ahead for a trip to bring my boyfriend. My 2 girlfriends and I had a relaxing and fun weekend. Gail and Marc are excellent company. The food is spectacular and the conversation is great. The beds are very comfortable and we loved the sauna. Thank you Auberge Chalimar for the amazing experience!

Best Stay-cation!!!
This exceeded our expectations in every way. Gail and her partner were absolutely amazing hosts. The chalet is just stunning, the rooms are spacious but honestly you don't spend much time in there, from the trails, to the water to the spa ambience it was just what all my girlfriends and I needed. The food was to die for, I could not believe the feast we had at every meal! For those thinking they need lunch AND dinner - don't! I was worried about that too but the breakfast was so large and filling and Gail always had snacks out throughout the day we were worried we wouldn't be able to eat our dinners! Pro tip - choose the beef, we didn't and only realized after it was a Tomahawk steak! * sigh ah well next time...and there will be a next time! We've already re-booked! Wonder for a fam getaway or an amazing relaxing girls getaway like we had.

Wonderful retreat with excellent hospitality
The auberge was beautiful. We had the upstairs to ourselves enjoyed spending time with our hosts and their 2 friendly dogs on the main floor. Top of the line beds. Food was exceptional and abundant. The salt baths were wonderful and relaxing. Enjoyed the fire at night. It was the perfect escape and time to unwind.

We had such a great time at this property and Gail and Marc were lovely hosts! The accommodations, food, amenities and surroundings were all great and we got a chance to relax and explore the area of Val-de-bois, this is a very highly recommended trip! We have already booked a second stay!

My name is Gail Anne Daoust and my dream has always been to own a B&B but with added flair and luxury. I traveled extensively with my work and while I stayed at the greatest hotels and ate the finest food, the surrounding didn't make me feel welcomed or comfortable enough to say it was my home away from home. Something was always missing. I purchased this property knowing I would convert this into the vision I had making it the perfect vacation spot, one in which people would remember the surrounding, the exquisite linen and the food they ate while enjoying peace and tranquility in a natural setting. I am an architectural interior designer by trade, my Mom was a baker and my Aunt a Cordon Bleu chef so early on I developed superior culinary skills. Combining this and my love for entertaining was a match made in heaven. While I remain in the house in my own private quarters you have the rest of the house to enjoy. I cook, clean, set the fire pit and prepare the sauna and salt baths. It is your responsibility to put the rowboat and kayaks in the water and remove when you are done. All you need to do is bring yourself and a suitcase and relax and enjoy the beautiful setting, one in which I get to enjoy every day!

Why they chose this property

Auberge Chalimar is completely unique and I am there to serve you so to make your vacation the best possible stay. You can work from this property as we offer high speed internet with office capability. The nature is incredible and each season brings something different, from the deer to the wild turkey to the blooming flowers in each of our 12 gardens. It is also dog & cat friendly. We have a fenced in kennel. We have two Golden Retriever dogs and 12 chickens. Most of the food is homemade with as much of the ingredients from local farmers. This is a beautiful gorgeous property, professionally and comfortably decorated and not to mention very spacious. It is reasonably priced well under the value of what we offer. We hope you enjoy every second of your stay! Please note rates are per room with 2 adults max per room. No additional guest fee for children under 10. Meal charges will apply for children 10 and over as well as additional adults staying in the room to cover costs of gourmet breakfasts.

What makes this property unique

The uniqueness of this stay is that it is all about you and your family. You will get to decide what you want to eat and do and at the time you want with a variety of breakfast/brunch menu choices we send you prior to your stay. It is a true relaxation vacation or 'staycation' where you can work hard and play harder. It is only an hour away from Ottawa/Gatineau and and hour away from Mont Laurier. There are walking trails, an amazing children's park. You have full access to the rowboat, kayaks and lawn games from spring to fall and some snow games in the winter. Don't have a car...no worry. I can pick you up at the train station or airport and drive you back and take you to where you need to go for a small fee to cover gas.
