Your whole group will be comfortable in this spacious and unique setting. You will be staying in the main house and have full access to the grounds. We offer a 5 star gourmet kitchen and many luxury amenities. The pool is completely private and screened from the winery by shrubs. You will enjoy complete privacy.

Located just 8 minutes from I95 and Kings Dominion! The property is located just 30 mins from Richmond and 30 mins from Fredericksburg. The property was a civil war camp ground and the North Anna Battlefield Park is just 5 mins away with hiking trails and history! The town of Ashland is just 15 mins away and offers dining, shopping, and so much more.

Weekend Reunion with Friends

We had several couples get together for the weekend and had a wonderful time. The house and surrounding area is beautiful and well kept and the wine is great!

Nice enough but needs some TLC

The bones of the house are good however we had some issues with cleanliness. The property manager was responsive to the backed up tub but the shower liner had mold on it, the cook ware was greasy and had to be washed before we used it. The refrigerator had spilled food and other goopy foods which had to be wiped clean before we could put anything in it. The front porch was missing a fan, the towels were old and thread bare. A lot of little things. I was disappointed that a property of a premier host was in need of so many maintenance items. Our stay was nice enough but needs some TLC.

Great for group

We had a nice stay at Glen Castle. The winery right across the yard was a fun perk and the adults could hang at the tasting room while the kids played in the field. The house was very clean. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The pool was nice and clean but the outdoor furniture needs upgrades and the pool bar/TV area was dirty. The outdoor TV did not work for cable or apps - we had to connect our own Roku. Same for living room TV inside house - the connection is bad and getting the smart TV to work was problematic. There is only a loveseat and couch in the living room so not enough seating for a group of 12. The landscaping in front needed some attention - but this did not affect our stay. There is a pellet grill that was functioning but needed a good cleaning. The pictures in this listing are accurate aside from the office connected to a bathroom - this room has 2 twin beds and was perfect for a kids room. The owner is extremely responsive and handled all requests and questions.

Castle Glen

Property was pretty much as advertised, but was not as clean as expected; dirty pans in oven,mold in the showers, freezer and pool fridge were dirty ( had to clean these before we could use them). Upkeep of exterior was less than ideal ( lots of weeds in the yard, wasp nest in pool cabana.Some TV components in master bedroom were nonfunctional. Host did what could be done while we were there, but expected that things would be top notch upon arrival.

Great Place

We had an awesome time with our adult children and their families. The kitchen provided us with all the necessities to prep great meals together. The pool and hot tub added to a fun experience.

Peace on Earth

Beautiful property off the beaten path. Little too chilly for the pool but we did use the jacuzzi. Extremely clean. Looking forward to visiting again!

Family Vacation

House was amazing. We have a family of 8. 6 kids 14,13,12,11,11 and 5. Everyone had plenty of space. Pool was nice. Grill was convenient to cook on. Especially since we were there for the 4th of July. Beautiful winery right on property. Very quiet and off the beating path of Doswell. We went to Kings Dominion 5 times this week. Only a 10 minute drive. Wasn’t good internet service so the kids had to adjust but they just bonded and found activities to do besides being glued to the cell phones. Beautiful, clean house.

Great getaway

Stayed at the property with 3 families, including 6 adults and 3 kids. It was perfect. Plenty of space indoor and outdoor. Kitchen was very well stocked with supplies plus an outdoor. grill. The property is clean and well maintained (and stocked with some toiletries as well). We all enjoyed the pool and hot tub.

Stay at the Inn

Our stay at the Inn was great! The house is just as shown in pictures and worked great for the group which was 11 women. It housed us very comfortably. Only points of confusion was the pool was closed (did not see pool schedule on the site) and there was confusion on how the free wine tastings worked (only 2 complimentary tastings total for entire group so had to choose who in the group would get them). The hot tub was great and the rooms and house are beautifully furnished. Overall we had a wonderful stay!

Family birthday

We spent a great weekend here with our extended family from New York, Long Island, and Florida to celebrate our grandfather's 80th birthday surprise party. We saw family we haven't seen in years and we spent a great weekend exchanging memories and making new ones in this lovely home. We were able to confortably sleep 11 people, cooked in a large acccomodating kitchen for 30+ people, arranged an indoor eating reception area in the large dining room, seating two circle table (with 10 seats per table) and a beautiful dining table seating around 10 as well. We also enjoyed leisure strolls along the vinyard, visited the winery which is a short 2 minute walk from the house, and enjoyed a lovley indoor/outdoor fireplace in the main area of the home. Thank you for a great stay!

Great Getaway

The house was beautiful and private and walking distance to the winery where we enjoyed karoke night Friday and the staff was so pleasant and friendly. The hot tub was definitely used and worked great although the cover needs replaced the hot tub itself was lovely. The house was well stocked also with linens, and kitchen supplies including nice selection of spices. There was also a very lovely welcome basket that we enjoyed. Each bathroom had a basket of necessities if you forgot anything. I can imagine in summer the pool area would be very nice and relaxing.

The pictures don’t do the house justice. It’s so pretty. Right next to the winery, I recommend the Tuxedo. 🙃 We enjoyed our stay celebrating our Friendsmas. Already planning our next trip back!

Wonderful, relaxing stay

My family stayed at Castle Glen for a week over the summer: myself and my husband, our two kids (11 and 7), and my husband's parents. We all had a lovely time. The accommodations were comfortable and we all had plenty of space to spread out. More than enough bedrooms and bathrooms! The kitchen was nicely appointed (MIL did a lot of cooking!) and had everything we'd need. The pool was terrific. We didn't use the hot tub but it was nice to know it was an option! The few snags we hit were dealt with quickly by our hosts (mostly they had to do with weather-related outages, no one's fault). We enjoyed our free deluxe wine tasting, and the winery guests/staff never interfered with our stay at all. Very serene setting off the beaten path. Of course we did a trip to Kings Dominion one day, and we headed to Ashland for dinners a couple of nights. A perfect not-too-far getaway from the DC area!

Great property for a small escape

Beautiful get away!

The house is gorgeous, kitchen is very spacious and well stocked with essentials, the pool is well maintained (bring pool towels), beds were comfortable, and bedrooms well spaced. There are two sets of stairs in the main level so if you have small children, bring gates. It is an active winery so do not go expecting lots of privacy. Aside from the winery guests and staff, there is staff who come spray the grapes and tend to the vineyard using supplies from the garage. Winery staff was very friendly and the owner was always available if anything was needed. There is a lot of room for parking. Overall, would definitely recommend!

Stunning Post-Covid Getaway

We waited a long time to see our relatives and we made this trip extra special because of that. Renting this stellar property not only gave us great accommodations but activities as well, with the winery and wine tasting room right across the lawn. They provided lots of wine to sip and purchase as well as afternoon live music. The house, especially the kitchen, was very well appointed and we all shared in a long-weekend’s feasting and birthday celebrations. This property is elegant and top-notch. You can’t go wrong here.

Castle Glen Winery is owned by the Cowdrey Family. At Castle Glen, we’ve always believed that wine should be an adventure. Ours began a quarter-century ago, when a favorite pastime of ours soon became a weekly obsession. We founded our winery, or rather, it found us on our historic Doswell, Virginia estate. We planted our first vines in 2009 and began selling wine in 2015. The adventure is now yours to share. We’ve perfected various red & white wine varieties and have specialty wines, as well.

Why they chose this property

The property is located between a 128 acre farm and a 611 acre farm. The view out the front door is an open expanse of rolling fields that is part of the National Park system. You will enjoy significant privacy on days when the winery is not open. Winery guests will never come to the house so have no fear of interference. :-). There are exterior HD cameras for your protection and security, but no cameras inside the guest areas.

PLEASE NOTE - Name on the reservation must match the name the credit card used for payment. No remote check-in's are allowed. Rental agreement should be signed and returned no later than 10 days from arrival time.
