About this property

Ali'i Trolley Bus Conversion

Experience the Big Island while staying in this unique converted Hawaii trolley! The Hawaii trolleys are used to shuttle visitors from all over the world around the sights and sounds of many of our beautiful islands. Now you can enjoy a stay in a unique conversions of a trolley into a cozy jungle home. The trolley is located in a very private setting in the forest, in the back of our 7 acre farm. Both bath, deck and kitchen are located outside of the trolley under a large roof.

The trolley is 35 feet long and 8 feet wide and provides ample space. Sleep in the queen sized bed, lounge on the couch and oversized chair, or get some emails done at the work desk. The spacious bathroom is located a few covered steps away as its own room, and offers a shower with jungle views through a large window. We have a breakfast table outside (under roof), and a functional kitchen with a gas cook top. In addition there are yard chairs for hanging out and watching the birds and the surrounding jungle. Do some stargazing without light pollution, or have a glass of wine while unwinding after a day of taking in all the sights of the Big Island, including the volcano national park, many hiking trails, or the famous manta ray dive. Listen to our singing frogs at night and the waves crashing against the cliffs just down the road. You need a vehicle to stay at this location, the best would be a 4 wheel drive so you can park right by the rental. If you have a 2 wheel drive, you'll have to walk down a slope for about 100 ft, good shoes are required.

In Hawaii we ask guests not to wear shoes inside interior spaces and on decks. Check-in times are limited to 3-7PM, and check-out is at 11AM, and we do require our guests to communicate an arrival time by 9AM the day of arrival so we can make sure we are available to check you in. For your convenience, we recommend not booking this rental if you are over 6"2 in height (182 cm). Some stair climbing is required to enter and exit the trolley, and you must be able to walk on uneven ground throughout the farm, so please be in reasonable shape. No parties, smoking or unregistered guests are allowed on the property, no exceptions.

Absolutely Perfect!!
What an amazing place within walking distance of the beach!! It really does have the best of both worlds, private yet close to beaches and town. The host was awesome and was a wealth of knowledge on things to do.

An absolute gem
We stayed here for two nights and it was completely delightful. It’s rustic and off grid with privacy in a rainforest setting but still completely comfortable… “glamping” at its finest.

Peace and quiet
Yes, it’s out of the way, but isn’t that what you’re looking for. Internet is fine, not a soul to be seen, it’s just you and the frogs. 4x4 is necessary.
