About this property

Cozy Oceanfront Cabot Trail Cottage w/Cape Breton's Best View

Welcome to Copper Cliff Cottage! Enjoy rustic maritime charm and contemporary amenities, not to mention coastal views that will take your breath away. The original house was built around 1900 and thoroughly renovated over the past few years to give it all the creature comforts you'll want while vacationing on the island.

A kitchen with new stainless KitchenAid appliances is well-equipped to meet the needs of a decerning chef. Stocked with All-Clad pans, chef knives, locally made Larch Wood cutting board, and a wide range of kitchen accessories, you'll have no problems cooking up delicious meals. Enjoy fresh coffee from the French Press, drip machine, or Keurig while taking in the ocean view from the window above the sink. For the coffee connoisseurs who prefer whole beans, a Baratza Encore grinder is provided. Off the kitchen is the side deck that features a picnic table and a new Weber Genesis propane grill (propane included). If you're fortunate to get some local snow crabs or lobsters, we've included an extra large pot for boiling and steaming.

The open dining and living room gives you ample space to spread out. The living room has six windows with expansive ocean views and features a 32" Roku smart TV and a Sonos sound bar for streaming your favorite music. Off the living room is a full bath with a compact washer and dryer (detergent included). The living room also has access to the large 16m (50') deck where you're sure to spend many relaxing hours enjoying the coastal views and breathtaking sunsets. It's not uncommon to see colorful fishing boats and breaching whales, so we've included Bushnell 10x42mm binoculars to help you get a closer look.

Also on the first floor is the new master bedroom with an en suite bathroom, king-size bed, air conditioning, and comfortable sitting area. The master bedroom is large, with ocean views, a 43" Roku smart TV, and its own deck access.

On the second floor, you'll find three additional bedrooms, a half bath, and a delightful reading nook. The upstairs bedrooms all feature new knotty pine walls and ceilings, accentuating the cozy cottage feel.

Two bedrooms feature small desks and chairs, perfect for visits that require remote work. The property is served by ultra-fast 200+ Mbps fiber internet and features a wireless mesh network for excellent Wi-Fi coverage throughout. Cell phone coverage is also good throughout the house and property.

The house has a ductless split air conditioning system with three units: one in the open kitchen/dining/living area, one in the first-floor master king suite, and one in the second-floor queen bedroom.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome (the limit is 2, and kindly keep them off all furniture), and there are plenty of grounds for them to roam near the house and some great hiking routes at the entrance of Cape Breton Highlands National Park, just 18km away.

If you have any questions about the house or area, please don't hesitate to reach out. We look forward to welcoming you to Copper Cliff Cottage!

Incredible sunsets. The perfect location.
If your plan is to enjoy Cape Breton Highlands National Park this Cottage is the perfect location. With incredible sunsets and an open fire the nights were memorable. The cottage is quite comfortable and well equipped. As we tend to travel a bit offseason the indoor fire place was a treasure each evening. Mr. LeBlanc's advise to drive up Rte. 19 was most appreciated as the towns were quaint and the autumn colors were spectacular. We drove throughout Cape Breton and both agreed that this cottage was a perfect home base. If you have the opportunity to drive to Baddeck and dine at the Bite House I would highly recommend but you must make reservations months in advance. A most enjoyable autumn trip with hiking in the park and enjoying the evenings cooking in the outdoor fire pit with the spectacular sunsets at this oceanfront cottage.

Restorative, Relaxing and Cozy
I have no complaints. I instantly felt at home when I walked into the cottage, and I didn't want to leave. The hosts are super responsive and kind. The home is well insulated and beautiful. And the location and scenery are jaw droppingly gorgeous, serene and awe-inspiring. Thank you for sharing this piece of heaven wit Cape Breton Visitors and their doggy companions!

Even more beautiful in person!
This house is worth the drive from Halifax simply for the unbelievable view! A short walk down a path takes you onto the bluff overlooking the ocean where you will find 4 chairs. You can see ocean and land for miles and lots of lobster traps! We spent so much time sitting and marveling at the view. The house is great with a large open floor plan on the ground floor with plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen has everything you need! Bedrooms upstairs have plenty of room to sleep 7. The master and 3rd bedroom were very spacious and the 2nd bedroom would be a little tight unless you unpack your suitcase. All very comfortable though and so quiet!! The outside has a wrap around porch with so much space to enjoy the views. There's also a brand new grill and a fire pit which were a big plus! Cheticamp is 10-15 min drive where you can find the Coop stores for all provisions and a few places to eat. Paul was an absolute delight. He left us a ton of information at our arrival and a lovely welcome basket that included fruit, snacks and wine (wine will always win me over!). Paul also was able to help us contact a guide for fly fishing, which we absolutely recommend. Final words: you will LOVE this house and our group cannot wait to visit again! Thank you Paul for your beautiful home and hospitality!

Perfect place for a Cape Breton vacation
We are soooooo happy to have selected this spot for our stay on Cape Breton! The house is wonderful --- it is EXACTLY as pictured, with multiple decks, open plan kitchen-dining-living room, comfortable and cozy bedrooms upstairs. The views from the property are absolutely spectacular, even better than the pictures show. I still regularly find myself picturing those views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence --- amazing. The house is in a nicely private location just off the Cabot Trail. The kitchen has everything that you can possibly need. I fell in love with a wood block cutting board that they had, only to find that the factory outlet that sells them is just down the road. What luck for me! The location is perfect for exploring the region --- we went on a different hike every day. The owner, Paul, was very helpful and responsive. Short drive to restaurants in Cheticamp, but see below... P.S. Be sure to make at LEAST one dinner of the homemade, traditional meat pie+gravy available from Geraldine AuCoin a couple of houses up the road. Look for the "meat pies" sign.

Lovely house, great location, incredible views
We stayed at the LeBlanc's home for five nights during our first (not to be last) visit to Cape Breton. The house is very clean, cozy and well equipped, and all of the information we needed to know about it, and some of the local restaurants and attractions, was waiting for us when we arrived. We particularly enjoyed the amazing view of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, and sunsets over it, from both the front porch and the "water-side" sitting area. The house's location on the island is excellent, with close and easy access to the National Park, Inverness Beach, and a number of lovely little towns. We did some beautiful hikes in the park, went whale watching (Captain Mark's Whale Watching was great!), and my husband and his friend golfed at Cabot Cliffs while I enjoyed Inverness Beach. A visit to Les Trois Pignons, as recommended by the LeBlanc's in their welcome package, is also very worthwhile and we enjoyed a relaxed and delicious dinner at the All Aboard Restaurant in Cheticamp. Lunch at The Dancing Goat is also a must if you have the time and opportunity! The entire island is lovely, and the drive through the park on the Cabot Trail is spectacular, however, after touring around, we felt that we were staying in THE best place and we wouldn't hesitate to return to the LeBlanc's :)

Perfect!
This beautiful home is the perfect place to spend a relaxing vacation. The scenery is magnificent, and the house itself is full of charm and personality. The owners have thought of everything! Paul is very pleasant to deal with, and the entire process was very easy. Look no further! This is the place. We hope to return. Thank you, Paul!

Great Home Base on Cabot Trail with Spectacular Ocean View
The LeBlanc's home is well equipped with everything needed for a visit to Cape Breton Island and exploring the Cabot Trail. My husband and I spent four days at the home for our honeymoon trip to Nova Scotia. We were welcomed with a gift basket and congratulatory flowers, and full instructions about the house and suggested places to sightsee, shop, and dine. The home is on a little bluff overlooking the water. We spent mornings having coffee by the water and in the evening shared a glass of wine and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. There is a fully-equipped kitchen, a small pellet fireplace, an outdoor firepit and grill, and outdoor seating for at least 5-7 people, comfortably. The 3 bedrooms could easily have 2 people each. The home is also very close (15 min.) to Cheticamp (dining, shopping, whale watching, and entrance to Cape Breton National Park) heading north and Margaree (15 min) to the south. We would stay here again in a heartbeat, and plan to when we return to Cape Breton Island someday! Thanks so much to the LeBlancs for making our trip so comfortable.

Loved our Cape Breton Stay
We absolutely loved the location of this home. The views are fantastic. So relaxing to sit and watch the sunset each evening. While making our reservation I happened to mention in passing that it was a special trip for our anniversary. We were surprised by, and truly appreciated, the thoughtfulness of the owner in leaving a beautiful bouquet of flowers and anniversary wishes to welcome us. We chose to experience the local cuisine by eating at the various restaurants in the area so we did not actually cook in the home but the kitchen seemed to be well equipped with everything needed to be able to make your own meals with ease, for both indoor cooking or outdoor barbecuing. The area is quiet but not isolated. The home is exactly as pictured in the photos. It is clean and well maintained. It's a very good location if you're planning on doing the Cabot trail or day trips around Cape Breton. Grocery stores and restaurants are just a short 10-15 min drive away in Cheticamp. We highly recommend the Harbour and All Aboard restaurants. As well, it's an easy drive over to Baddeck (our favourite shop there was Our Seaside Home Decor - a nautically themed decor shop in the old post office building there). If you're looking for a cottage with a "Cape Breton feel" and love sunsets this is the place to stay.

A memorable week in Cape Breton
We stayed at the cottage for a week with our three teenage kids plus dog. It was really perfect: Cosy, well-appointed, beautifully situated, and very clean. The views from the cottage are unbeatable. Proximity to the National Park was also a huge bonus for us as we did lots of hiking with the dog. Chéticamp is only about a 10 minute drive and has a big Co-op grocery store plus lots of great seafood (we tried "All Aboard" and the "Seafood Stop"). Don't miss the Aucoin Bakery just near the Park entrance -- we don't get bread like that in Ottawa! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property -- honestly, it looks exactly like the pictures on the website. Plus, as others have mentioned, the owner is very personable and helpful.

Excellent Nova Scotia experience
This was our first time on Cape Breton and we were so pleased with the home we rented. Not only was it clean and well-equipped, it has the most spectacular view! We spent evenings watching the sunset from the deck and enjoyed coffee on the adirondack chairs with a view down the coast. It was also very convenient to the Park and other North/Central activities. Should we be able to return some day, we would be pleased to stay at this home again. Thanks to the owners for their prompt responses and helpful messages.

Awesome view from this cottage
We rented this cottage on our trip to Nova Scotia. We are a family of 5 so there was plenty of space for the 5 of us. The owners were a pleasure to deal with and left us a nice gift basket on our arrival. The view from the outside is amazing. It is right on the ocean and there is plenty of land there for you to enjoy. There were only a few minor issues with the house like the the grill was out of gas and we were not prepared for the well water which played a little havoc on our clothes when we did laundry. But other than those few things the cottage had everything we needed for the visit. It is close to the park and Cheticamp is right down the road. Cape Breton is a more remote, bigger and less crowded version of Acadia.

Beautiful Views and Great House
My two travelling companions and I thoroughly enjoyed our week in this well-equipped and comfortable cottage on the Cabot Trail. The kitchen had everything we needed, the cottage was beautifully decorated and we felt at home immediately. The high-quality patio set was very comfy with great views of the coastline. Even better was watching spectacular sunsets from the rocking chairs on the front porch with full view of the water. The cottage's proximity to Cheticamp for shopping and restaurants, Baddeck, and the Cape Breton Highlands National Park make it the perfect place to stay.

A great place to stay
This cottage is located in a spectacular area of Cape Breton. Close to hiking trails, whale watching, music, and the sea. It is quiet, and the view from the front deck is breathtaking. The cottage was very comfortable and clean. The pictures reflect reality (which isn't always the case!). We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay during our visit.

I loved Cape Breton and I loved this house!
I spent a week here with my 20 year old son. We both loved the house and loved Cape Breton. This home is a perfect home base for exploring the western side of Cape Breton as well as Cape Breton Highlands Park, which is a ten minute drive from the house. I would highly recommend spending 2-3 days in the park. Have your camera ready when you drive through the park as the vistas from the main road are stunning. My son and I also did several of the recommended hikes in CBHP including the popular Skyline trail. The town of Chet camp (just a short drive north from the house) is home to a large French Acadian community and is worth a visit. (One local told me that 90-95% of the town’s residents speak French). Make sure to visit Baddeck which is about 1 ¼ hour drive from the Cheticamp area. Baddeck is home to the Alexander Graham Bell Museum and is a neat little town located on the shores of beautiful Bras D’Or Lake. The house was perfect for us. There is a kitchen and dining area downstairs, with a cozy adjoining sitting area. The sitting area had a couch, a couple of comfortable chairs, a TV and a good collection of movie CDs. Upstairs were three small bedrooms. Everything was as-advertised. Everything worked, everything was clean and neat. The view from outside the house is absolutely incredible. The house is located on a small bluff so when you go onto the front porch you get an unimpeded panoramic view of the ocean as well as views of the beautiful cliffs and beach to the south. One morning I also saw both a red fox and a bald eagle from the front porch while enjoying my morning caffeine. The home’s owner, Paul, was a pleasure to deal with. He answered all of my emails promptly and comprehensively and I generally found him to be very responsive to questions and concerns. I would very much like to return to Cape Breton in the next year and would like to stay at Paul’s home again. I would encourage any other potential visitors to Cape Breton to consider staying here as well.

Adorable cottage with amazing views!!
We are a family of 4 (plus baby) and we simply loved this cottage! Perfectly comfortable.....spotlessly clean, well maintained, plenty of space, and fully equipped kitchen. But let's talk about the views! Absolutely breathtaking.....we could hardly tear ourselves away from the outdoor seating area. And the location was perfect for exploring the Cabot Trail and National Park. The owner, Paul, was highly responsive and wonderful to work with. We will definitely recommend this listing to friends and family, and we plan to return again!

Amazing House With Gorgeous Views
We rented this property for 2 weeks for a wedding in Margaree and I was blown away by the fantastic views of the ocean and the peacefulness of the property. The house was so nice and it had a very welcome feeling to it. I loved the updates in the house and the wrap around deck. Paul the owner was so easy to deal with, he made our experience very wonderful. There is a lot to do in Cape Breton from the Cabot Trail drive to the Fortress of Louisberg. Make sure to visit Cape Breton, and if you do you are going to want to stay at this cabin. We will be back, we were sad to leave such a wonderful place.

Fantastic Vacation Home on the Cabot Trail!
We absolutely loved this place! It was clean, well-appointed and situated in a perfect location for accessing many of Cape Breton's best attractions, including the small town of Cheticamp (be sure to check out the All Aboard restaurant) and the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. We spent hours sitting outside enjoying the view, and on our one rainy day, there was plenty to keep us entertained inside (food, TV, wireless internet and lots of reading). We highly recommend this home, and cant wait to return soon!

Gorgeous Scenery & Spacious, Well-Equipped Cottage
Cape Breton was spectacular! We'll never forget the natural beauty of the place, and the kindness of the people. The home's location could not have been more perfect! The ocean, the cliffs, the sunsets, the whales, the fishing boats, the Cabot Trail -- like a painting each day! The kitchen had everything we needed, and the furniture was comfortable. We gave four instead of five stars for one reason only -- the length of the queen-sized bed! Our feet banged against the end-rail or dangled off of the edge each night. Overall, a wonderful place.

loved this house
We loved staying in this house. It was absolutely perfect for our needs. We have 17 year old sons who liked having their own rooms, with one of them big enough for them both to hang out in at night. We love the location- close to Cheticamp and all of the awesome restaurants (and Aucoin Bakery) and to the trails of the park. The house is cozy, with wonderful views (we saw whales from the chairs out front), a great kitchen, and comfortable living room to rest in after hiking all day. And having a fire while the sun set and the stars came out was one of our favorite parts of the trip. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!

Beautiful Views and perfect location
This home is located in a perfect location for exploring the National Park as well as the areas on the Cabot Trail. The home has a/c which was very much appreciated for the few very warm days and nights we had during our stay. The owner Paul is fantastic to deal with and is quick to answer e- mails and questions about the area. The kitchen was fully stocked and is evident that the owners like to cook which was nice when we brought back fresh lobster from the docks to have the big pots to cook them in and the utensils and tools to eat them. We were fortunate to be there during lobster season in that area. In the park the Skyline trail was our favorite that provided views that pictures or words can't express the beauty enough. One thing that we had to adjust to was the early closure times of grocery and shops which required pre-planning as we are used to things always being open late. The Dory Pub, Wabas pizza and the Seafood Stop were great. However, we do not recommend the All Aboard as the portions were so small for the price and did not taste that great either. The Aucoin bakery was excellent for bread and desserts. Loved the French influence in Cheticamp and the friendliness of the people in the area. We did whale watching out of Pleasant Bay and saw tons of Pilot whales so exciting. Took the small Zodiac as it enhanced the experience a great deal. All in all this area was such a nice place to vacation.

My father is a native of Cape Breton, and my family and I return to the island whenever possible. My parents stumbled upon this property about 30 years ago and fell in love at first sight. The views can't be beaten, and the location is convenient to the area's attractions. A few years back, we fully renovated the house, and it now features a new kitchen, two new bathrooms and hardwood floors throughout. We've spent countless hours lounging outside enjoying the breathtaking ocean scenery. It never gets old, and I'm sure you'll love it too.
