About this property

Nestled in the woods, the home provides a private retreat for those looking to relax in the country. Just 1 mile from the hamlet of Jeffersonville and 7 miles from the original site of the 1969 Woodstock music festival, now the home of Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center and Woodstock Museum. Bring the family - make memories!

The Jeff Tree House is a chalet style, 2,500 sq. ft., multi-level 4 bedroom, 3 bath home with loft office and lots of glass windows to view nature from. The enormous outdoor deck features a comfortable living room with L-shaped chaise sofa and coffee table, an 8 seat dining table and large gas grill. Once inside the home the tree house feel continues with floor to ceiling vaulted cathedral windows and light streaming in throughout the day.

The Kitchen is large and fully stocked with an 82" farmhouse table, window over the sink, to day dream at, a gas stove and oven, microwave oven, double sink, dishwasher, and large refrigerator/freezer.

The home is professionally managed, year round, to insure a maintenance free vacation.

In the summer months of July through August you will enjoy picking the wild raspberries and black berries that grow around the property.

We love to surprise our guests with NEW UPGRADES to keep things fresh for new and returning guests.

THE LAYOUT:
-3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms on the main level as well as living room, dining room, wonderful outdoor living room and enormous "park rangers deck".
-1 bedroom and 1 full bathroom with family room on the lower level walk out.
-Loft office above the kitchen overlooking the living room with a view of the tree tops through the gabled roof.

The home is very private but only 1 mile down the hill to the Hamlet of Jeffersonville where you will find all of your needs met. Supermarket, gas station, barber shop, beauty shop, restaurants, antique barn, deli, restaurants and much more.

Please note that this is a No Shoe home. We ask that you remove your shoes before entering the home. Slippers are provided for your additional comfort. Mahalo!

**Lake Jefferson is about 300 yards from the rear of the home. It is accessed by a private path off the deck through a field of ferns and the occasional berry bush down through the fairy tale woods until you land upon our multi tiered cantilever deck overhanging the water along with a Bluestone patio and large picnic table to accommodate your lake side picnics. At the lake you will find 2 kayaks to explore on or dock at one of the lake's many islands and explore. When finished exploring paddle out to the center of the lake to jump off and cool off with a refreshing swim.

**During dry seasons, the lake might be low and you may need to portage the kayaks to the water. You are welcome to use the lakeside deck and dock for nature observation, year round.

Perfect stay for a group trip!

Our group of 7 take a girls cabin trip every year and this house was the best we’ve had so far. The house was spacious, clean, and perfect for a group of friends. The kitchen was well equipped with kitchen equipment (blender, variety of pans, etc.), the basement was a great place to gather, and the property was clean and well decorated. Jill made herself available and left clear instructions ahead of time! Overall great stay!

This is one of the cleanest places I’ve stayed in! The house is also stocked with all the essentials and just a 20 minute drive to Bethel Woods. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone visiting the area.

Lovely country home

A clean and cozy home to relax in. You are in the woods with the quiet sounds of the birds nearby. It’s 10 to 25 minutes away from several towns so grocery shopping or restaurants are not far away. It was summer and there’s an excellent farmer’s market on Sundays in the town of Callicoon. Jill the owner is super responsive to any questions or issues that came up.

Relaxed and off the beaten track

This was a good property for myself and extended family in town for a family reunion in Callicoon. There was a bedroom for each couple and one single; a bath for each couple, and my spouse and I shared a bath with my single sister-in-law. Public spaces are adequately sized and the kitchen was well equipped. It would have been nice to have a TV on the main living space. The lower walk-out level housed one bedroom and bath along with a family room for people who wanted to stay up later than some of us. Be forewarned, orange is a popular color for the interior finishes. The wifi service was great. The main entry through the master bath was weird but we managed to find a way to work around this. The no-shoes policy was no big deal for us although it was a nuisance if you wanted to go out onto the deck. We did find the driveway tight and difficult to maneuver. The location feels quite private, situated in the woods and quiet; yet the location is very near the village of Jeffersonville with it's many services and restaurants.

Quiet and Clean

The house was clean, updated, quiet and secluded. All the photos (except the one by the lake) were accurate. The house was stocked with all the comforts of home. The hostess was very attentive to emails and texts. Our trip would have been perfect if it had not been the water pressure/water availability issue. The first day was fine but after that, there was absolutely none at times. We could not clean dishes and most of us didn't shower after the first day. Also I assumed from the one photo that the backyard was adjacent to the lake. It was a long walk to the lake plus there were other properties in-between. We were not there for the lake so it wasn't a show-stopper.

Gem in the Catskills

We were in the area for the weekend to attend a concert at Bethel Woods Center for the Performing Arts. The house was perfect. Very clean and orderly. Great location! The group was very pleased with the accommodations. We talked about possibly planning another trip there next year. Excellent communication with home owner! Would definitely recommend to others.

Spartan basecamp

Four of us were in the area for the Spartan obstacle course race at the Bethel Woods Center for the Performing Arts. The house is exactly as depicted in words and photos. Bright and airy. Everything was clean. The appliances were all up to date and functional. Plenty of hot water for all of us. The beds were supportive and comfy. The outside deck is very large and close to the trees. We enjoyed listening to a pair of male Redstarts call back and forth. The walk down to the lake is through the woods. The water level was low, so I wouldn't jump in off the lakeside deck. Checking in and out was super easy, and we had no reason to contact Jill about any issues. The surrounding towns have great food. We particularly enjoyed the Brazilian food and hospitality at the Samba Cafe. This trip was memorable for all, and we would definitely stay at Jill's house again.

Great choice for leaf changing season

This is a terrific house, spacious, clean, with a huge deck, in the woods but close to Catskill Mts. things to see and do. The main level has 3 bedrooms clustered at the rear of the house, a large well equipped kitchen, a large dining area and smallish living room. The lower level has a huge playroom/living room, where the tv is located, as well as another bedroom and bathroom. A short easy walk through the woods leads to a nice, quiet, private sitting area near the lake. Jill texted welcoming us to the house and left her phone number to use if we needed her. We did not because everything was great. We would definitely stay here again.

Great House Near Bethel Woods

We were up for the weekend for a concert at Bethel Woods. The house was about 15 minutes to the back parking lots thereby avoiding all the traffic. There were 5 of us there and there was plenty of room for more. The house was peaceful and private and had everything we needed. Jill provided us all the information we needed for a perfect weekend away. She responded immediately to the one question I had. I can highly recommend Jill's house!!

Beautiful home

We were happy with the lake house in Jeffersonville and Jill was a wonderful host. The house was very clean which is important. Booking was easy. It was a little difficult to find the house though, the house number was written on the tree. The driveway can be somewhat treacherous with snow and ice but Jill did give us a heads up and it was maintained. You enter through the master bathroom which was odd, but not a problem for us. I did wish there had been a TV on the main level because I like to watch news while having my coffee in the morning, but that's just a personal thing. The view was wonderful, you feel like you're in a tree house. I would love to come back in the summer time, it's probably even more beautiful. I would definitely stay here again!

Beware

Jill end up charging me for trash that I didn't take with me, because I didn't had space in my car to take it. This house is for guests, imagine the amount of trash that 8 guests can generate in a weekend. She never even suggest where can guests can take the trash, apparently we are supposed to take it back to our homes. Nonsense. I left a book and a notebook and I live in NYC, same state where the house is. She wanted to charge me 50 dollars to ship it. Greed and crazy house rules defines the host. It's a nice place though, but it really left a sour taste to a wonderful weekend with friends.

The Lake Jeff Tree House was designed and built in 2002 by Jill, the owner, an internationally known artist, for our family to relax in and get away from New York City. We have enjoyed the fresh country air, eating locally grown, raised and harvested / foraged foods and playing in the outdoors in the woods and by the lake. The Tree House has served as Jill's summer studio through the years and the home is furnished with many personal works of art by her and artist whom she knows.

Our family has loved and cared for this home throughout the years, as evidenced by the pristine condition that you will find and enjoy.

We have been sharing our home since 2012 and work hard to provide every guest with the same serenity and beauty that we have found in the woods on Lake Jefferson.

Why they chose this property

The Jeff Tree House is a true retreat from the the hectic pace of everyday life. You can choose to stock up the fridge and relax with all of the comforts you desire, both indoors and out, on the living room deck or beside the lake. There is no need to leave unless you want to partake in the many amenities that Sullivan County has to offer.

You will find the Bethel Woods Performing Art Center and the site of the 1969 Woodstock Music festive and Museum just 7 miles away. There are many wonderful restaurants to visit prior to a show or anytime you're wanting to socialize and have someone else cook for you.

Take a ride along the Delaware River to Fort Delaware. Experience life in a Fort as it would have been. This is great for kids and adults alike or continue down the lake to Skinners Falls to swim or tube the rapids.

Winter is just as exciting at the Tree House. Build a fire in the fireplace and listen to the crackle. When the lake freezes the locals ice fish on it. You can sled the local hills or for a bigger adventure ski or snow-tube Villa Roma which is a 10 minute drive. Its a small run but great family fun to noodle around on ski's without crowds. For larger ski/tubing adventures there is Holiday Mountain in Monticello.

What makes this property unique

This is a true nature getaway. Whether its summer and you are watching the trees sway, hearing the leaves rustle, listening to the geese honk, watching deer and small woodland animals at the lake or its winter and you build a snow fort then sit cozy by the fireplace watching the snow fall, you will make lasting memories with friends and family.
