Great home in serene surroundings
We absolutely enjoyed our stay at this house on the lake. The views were wonderful, the neighbor quiet, and the house great and well stocked. The house had everything we needed and more. Plenty of space for 3 adults and 3 kids in our party. The owners were super sweet and very responsive. Great stay all together.

Amazing location
The house was wonderful. Very well stocked with everything you could want or need including cups and plates for the little kids. The location is amazing. Right on Ennius Lake. Sitting on the patio over looking the lake in the morning drinking coffee was the best. The deer came to visit us twice a day. Once in the morning and again in the evening.

Less than ideal
-Did not get the welcome email so did not have key code to get into house. The property manager responded quickly once she heard. -Day one we notice a sewage leak in the backyard which prevented us rom using the yard or lake due to the smell that permeated the yard and house. We were told there would be a fix se we stayed a second night. On the second day the leak became significant and they let us know that the leak would not be fixed till Monday. We left Monday AM. THe property manager resonded well to all correspondence and was professional. -The house did not have a broom or vacum we could access -We could not make the TV work-- kept telling us the satellite was down. -Internet was intermittent. Lastly, the dock pictured in the photo, was not the dock at the house. Need to have signs on the dock that the lake is very shallow .

Wonderful lake house!!
This house is located in a serene, wonderful neighborhood with access to the most beautiful lake! The house is stocked with everything you need - bring your own shampoo and hair dryer, which is no big deal. This house has lots of space to run and spread out. There are games and movies for down time, in addition to a BBQ and outdoor seating. We would love to visit this beautiful place again and thank Justin and Darcy for being so accommodating. WONDERFUL place!!!!

Family Time on the Lake
The Ennis Lake house was the perfect retreat for our family. The home is well kept and clean with all the necessities for comfortably cooking, sleeping and enjoying the lake. Even more perfect was the location tucked away off the main highway with direct views and access to Lake Ennis. There is great swimming from shore in front of the property as well as a wonderful beach just a mile down the way. The fire pit on the lake made for a great wind down in the evening watching the sunset over the mountains to the west.

Family reunion
Average property but nice location on the lake. Peaceful. Couldn't use the grill outside because it was grossly unclean. The rest of the property was very clean. One bathroom door didn't lock. We wanted to make a cake to celebrate a birthday but there was no cake pan. We made do with the broiler pan. There were hot days and the AC didn't seem to cool adequately. Would we stay there again? Yes. It was relaxing. It fit our family of 9, barely. We have tall sons and they couldn't really share the bed. Apparently, the couch was comfortable enough. Thank you for letting us stay in your home.

We made Wonderful Memories in Ennis!
Our stay was incredible! Justin was so helpful with all our questions and concerns! The neighbors were all so friendly and the kids had a blast! I loved how the neighbors came over to meet us and that they were so kind and shared very cool water toys... like the "Magic Carpet" as our kiddos called it :) We bought one when we got home! The view was so beautiful and the house was perfect for our family! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was for the following reasons... The first one is no fault of the owners... but sadly we went during a time when the MayFlies were HORRIBLE! So terrible that we couldn't use the backyard at all! Such an amazing backyard too! When we first got there we freaked out thinking they were mosquitoes! I learned Mayflies don't bite, but they sure did make our visit miserable while at the house! Like to open the door several would swarm in like an army. Also I agree with past comments as I spent over an hour cleaning the deck - there were so many spider webs all over and dead bugs. In addition, I would recommend to get the AC checked out. My husband always runs hot and the air conditioner did not cool the house at all. The screens need to be fixed in a few of the rooms. We went out and bought clear tape so we could enjoy the evening breeze without Mayflies coming through the holes in the screen. And they need a new vacuum. Every morning I would vacuum the massive amounts of Mayflies that lost their lives at the screen door and windows. Those are minor issues and we are so grateful to stay at such a beautiful home on the lake. It was so fun and we did make so many precious memories! And let me not forget to mention that the fishing is AWESOME at Ennis Lake! Our entire family caught over 20 beautiful and sometime hefty rainbow trout! Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your little piece of paradise!

Outstanding property, spectacular location!
The Lake House is very well maintained, with up-to-date amenities throughout. The beds are comfy, the TV and player in the living room are top quality, and the kitchen is more than adequate for most cooks. We ate outside on the lovely deck, lounged by the lake in the Adirondack chairs, and splashed, swam, and tubed around on the clean lake water. Our family swarmed in for a reunion and we all are ready for a repeat. The Lake House is close to a fine public beach with more sand and is just down the road from a very good, somewhat pricey restaurant. Ennis, a 15-minute (or so) drive offers several good eating places. Madison Foods, on the close edge of Ennis is a decent little country grocery store, and the Cenex gas station offers very good coffee and a variety of excellent home-baked delights from the Country Bumpkin bakery. Potential renters should know that the rental has no toys, so a stop at Target on the way in is a good idea. And this IS Montana, so have plenty of insect repellent and sunscreen.

Great view and nice house
We enjoyed our stay but felt that for the amount charged per night that there should at least be essentials provided like toilet paper, laundry detergent, paper towels ect. We had to go straight out to the local store and stock the house ourselves which we thought would be included since we paid so much for the week. Other than that, the house was big enough for the 7 of us and the yard is wonderful and relaxing with a beautiful view. Also I had to do about an hour of cleaning chairs, tables, and deck for it to be usable. With it being a pretty small house to clean, maybe the deck area should be included for the cleaning fee charged.

What a Great Location and a Wonderful Stay
The property is great, the house was perfect and the location, right on Ennis Lake, was spectacular. The house was warm and charming, the grill on the porch overlooking the lake was a great place to cook and relax. The town is very friendly and accommodating, we enjoyed the restaurants, Willie's Distillery and Deemo's Meat where the grass fed beef was delicious. I fished the upper and lower Madison, Bear Trap, the Ruby River, the Big Hole and the Bitter Root. All were within easy driving distance, especially knowing that some grass fed beef and the grill were waiting. We will be back.

We were very happy with the home itself, the property, and the lake. We liked the full set of dishes
The house was roomy and it flowed very well for our large group. The house was very clean and well equipped. The shaded yard was lovely and the lake was perfect. A nice rocky, sandy bottom and shallow for the kids to play in. The mayfly hatch was horrible for the first two days, but were gone the last two days. Our only complaint was that the outside deck was filthy. It was covered with bird poop, bugs, and cobwebs. It took us two hours to clean it so we could use it. It seems the cleaning fee should include the deck as it is the way in and out of the house and is where we ate our meals. Remember to bring your own chairs. We did and we’re glad. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would like to stay there again.

Great Stay. Nice Location for Visiting the Area.
We have been to this area 3 other times and thought now is the time to introduce our grand kids to the area wonders. We liked the location due to short drive to Nevada/Virginia City. and Lewis and Clark Caverns. It is also in driving range to the West Yellowstone entrance to the Park. Nice jump off to the Butte Montana tours and the prison in Deer Lodge. The house was just right for our family. Lake front, dock, and most important one story for us (Grandparents). The home has all you will need to be comfy. It also has working WIFI, Satellite TV, DVD and VHS players. Plenty of comfortable seating inside as well as outside on the deck. We even used the lakeside fire pit to view the Montana skies at night. The neighbors on the lefty are very nice, plus we had a bonus. The man plays guitar in a small band in town. Since I was in a Northwest Rock Band between 1958 and 1961, it was great sharing our experiences. Wish I had brought one of my guitars and an Amp. In summary, we had an amazing stay at Justin's Ennis Lake home. He provides all the information you will need for your stay, and I must add, he made us feel at home the time we were there. You will be truly pleased doing business with him. Hats off to the owner. MEMORIES FOREVER.

Relaxing, Peaceful, Roomy and Clean with all the comforts of home.
We loved this property. The location, the space and decor all excellent. The house was about 9 miles from the small town of Ennis. I love the large outdoor patio and spacious dock. The views are spectacular and the sound of the waves right outside were amazing. The beach/dock is a very very short walk. The house had plenty of clean linen and blankets. Plenty of places to sleep we had a party of 7 and had plenty of room. There were tons of games for us to play including a horseshoe pit. We enjoyed the weather and even had a few really amazing thunderstorms pass through. We brought our own kayaks and spent many hours on the lake. Fishing was plentiful if you are from out of state the fishing license for 10 days will run you almost $100. We were about an hour away from Bozeman and an hour in the other direction for Yellowstones North Gate entrance and only about 15 miles from Virginia city and Nevada city. We highly recommend doing your "Major" grocery shopping in a large city before you get into Ennis. We actually went into Bozeman half way through our stay (an hour away) to Wal-Mart and got GREAT deals, worth the drive and such an amazing bustling town that has grown so much in the past 20 years. They do have a market in Ennis if you should so need to pick up an item or two. We had plenty to keep us busy during our 10 day stay. The management team is wonderful, quick to reply and very professional and friendly. It was a lovely vacation rental and we are glad that we booked this house.

A Valley View that is Amazing.....
This property was exactly as advertised. The beds were comfortable, the bedrooms were large and convenient for both couples. The kitchen had all the utensils and appurtenances that were needed. The views were spectacular. And the little town of Ennis is a wonderful feature for the house. The lake was a nice contribution to our experience and the convenience to Virginia City was also appreciated. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

Great Lake house
Enjoyed this very comfortable , clean lake home. Had a nice dock and was close to the public boat launch. Very accessible to Ennis for groceries, shopping, and dining. Some really good restaurants in town and in the area around Ennis. Fun and interesting day trips to Virginia City too. Only problem was the smoke, and no one could help that.

Perfect family lake house vacation
This is perfection! Our 3 generation family of 9 had a blast in this gorgeous place. The house had everything we needed. The beds were wonderful, the house very clean and spacious. We cooked every meal in the well equipped kitchen and ate outside on the covered deck with ample seating. The kids swam in the shallow lake and Grandpa and the kids "unsuccessfully"fished off the pier. Although there were not a lot fish they had a ton of fun! The kids loved using a paddle board & could go out pretty far and still not be in deep water. The town of Ennis is down the road about 10-15 minutes. The grocery store was good but check out the well stocked dollar store right next to the grocery store first. We drove to Yellowstone, a 90 minute drive along route 287 and the scenery was spectacular. Overall if you are looking for a great house right on a lake surrounded by 3 separate mountain ranges, you would not go wrong with this one.

About the host

Hosted by Justin Davidson

Host profile image
We are current Georgia residents whose "home" is in Montana! Darcy was born and raised in Ennis and has been fortunate enough to maintain family property in the area. Our family decided to open our lake house to others when our schedules do not allow us to be there. We take great pride in our valley and love to share the majestic beauty with others.

Why they chose this property

This property is one of 15 homes on Ennis Lake. It is truly a unique experience and an absolute beauty to view the Spanish Peaks and Madison Valley from the lake's shoreline. It capture's the best of Montana's Big Sky.

What makes this property unique

This home is in the heart of the Madison Valley and has so much natural beauty that surrounds it. The Upper Madison River feeds into the lake, and the Lower Madison River below the dam is truly 2 miles in distance. This is a tourist and fishing paradise! Being one of 15 homes on the lake front, this is truly a rare opportunity to stay on Ennis Lake!
