'The Old Stable' is a one bedroom, Self Catering Holiday Cottage nestled in the beautiful Edw Valley in Powys, Mid Wales. Adjacent to the owners property and self contained with ample car parking, this charming cottage is ideal for a romantic getaway or as a base to explore this beautiful part of Wales.

AREA

Aberedw is a small rural village situated (as the name suggests) where the River Wye joins the River Edw. There are some nice walks from the village in the surrounding hills & the 'Wye Valley Walk' of course. Just opposite the property is the historic village pub - The Seven Stars Inn. We are only 4 miles from the market town of Builth Wells, the home of the Royal Welsh Showground, 15 miles from the pretty town of Hay-on-Wye, famous for its bookshops & festival and close to the Brecon Beacons, offering great walking, cycling and outdoor pursuits as well as stunning scenery.

ACCOMMODATION

The Ground Floor is entered directly into a good sized Kitchen/Breakfast Room with a stone floor, oak paneled walls and hand built kitchen cupboards with an inset two-ring ceramic hob and a one and a half bowl sink. There is also a fridge with freezer section and a combination-microwave/convection oven as well as a small table & chairs. An open staircase leads up to the first floor and a further door leads to the Shower Room. The First Floor is carpeted and laid out as a studio room with a comfortable sofa, TV, DVD player and Sky+ HD box providing Free satellite channels, as well as a double bed.

CHILDREN

Children are welcome, but you will need to bring your own airbed/cot etc. Also you may feel that certain aspects of the property & Grounds are not child friendly - PLEASE EMAIL US TO DISCUSS BEFORE YOU BOOK IF YOU INTEND TO BRING CHILDREN.

DOGS

We welcome well behaved dogs (Maximum Two) - an additional charge of £10 per pet/per stay will apply. PLEASE NOTE: we do have dogs & cats here, our dog is very friendly and loves other dogs. Our neighbours also have livestock in fields adjoining our land.

Great Location

Very friendly host and nice accommodation The location is ideal for walking holidays and is very close to the Royal Welsh Showground. The pub opposite provides decent food. We will definitely be back if we need to stay in the area again.

Stayed for Hay-on-Wye Festival

We stayed at this cosy and comfortable little stable for our trip to the Hay-on-Wye Festival, which is about 30 mins away. We had a lovely welcome basket and the place was clean and accommodated our needs. Fairly easy to get to and has parking included. It was nice and quiet and we really enjoyed our stay.

So nice, we stayed there twice!

A cosy, delightful place to stay and you’ll want for nothing. There was milk in the fridge and a welcome basket with treats for all of us. The hosts, Gary and Helen, are just lovely. The scenery is breathtaking and the peacefulness and friendliness of the people is so heartwarming. We ate at the Seven Stars just opposite and the food was so good. Dog friendly and the locals and staff very welcoming. Would definitely stay there again.

Our stay in the barn

Beautiful property. Excellent location for our needs. The whole community, literally, was helpful and kind beyond expectations. Absolutely recommendable. If needed, there were pamphlets, maps, and multitudes of information in the Stable as well as from Gary himself. Due to travel changes we arrived early ( very ). But Helen graciously allowed us to check in. The seven stars, across the road , were done serving food when we arrived but the chef whipped us up a meal none the less. So yea. Definitely a five star.

Happy with it all

Gary and Helen had time for chats and the accommodation had everything that we needed, plus was quiet at night. Found some great walks with the dogs and was such a treat to have the pub over the road for meals. Felt that the property was very well thought out, and nicely done, considering it was a stable !

Charming and comfortable cottage

We stayed four nights. There were many good places to visit during the day and the local pub right opposite the drive. Friendly and very decent pub food. The cottage itself is thoroughly modernised and extremely comfortable. Ideal for a couple out and about a lot.

Old Stable Holiday

Our stay at The Old Stable was a really wonderful experience ! Gary and Helen were most welcoming and very helpful for the whole of our stay.Lots of info for places to visit and nothing was too much trouble. They were always on hand if you needed anything but gave you privacy all the time. Bella and Fawkes two adorable labradors played happily with our dogs . Across the road The Seven Stars pub is a must lovely staff lovely food and the locals very friendly.! There is a suggestion book in the cottage we suggested getting rid of it !!! Gary and Helen have spent time in holiday cottages and have gathered enough knowledge to have thought of everything there guests may need. A truly wonderful stay and would go back tomorrow if we could BUT we will return hopefully very soon !!! Lorraine and Bryan and fur babies !!!

A Great Find

Great location, very clean and welcoming. Above and beyond providing extras like a goody welcome basket including dog treats (for the dog); even down to cleaning products and washing up liquid. Very handy with a dog welcoming pub across the road. Definitely worth more than the 4 stars that it has.
