The swimming pool measures approximately 8m x 4m. At the shallow end there is 'in water' seating.

Awesome stay, very peaceful and quiet
We stayed here for a couple of nights and even though we had a bit of bad luck with the weather, the stay itself was super nice. Laurie was an awesome host who made us feel very welcome and took great care of our arrival. The house itself was very neat and beautiful and everything was there to make our stay enjoyable. If you’re looking for a nice and quiet getaway where your nearest neighbours are over a couple of hundred meters away. This is the place.

A WOW STAY
A true gem property, subdued luxury, superbly located for those seeking a quiet and relaxing holiday. Beautiful region of France, plenty of interesting places to visit and excellent restaurants all around. A caring and communicative owner, very nice chap. What else can we say: 10 stars, highly deserved. Thank you, Laurie! Lut and Frank August 2019 Brugge (Belgium)

A wonderful retreat in a beautiful location.
This property provides luxurious accommodation in an amazing rural location. The facilities are first class and the attention to detail in the provision of a comprehensive welcome pack and all domestic consumables such as dish washer tablets, kitchen paper etc etc. means that you don't have to worry about provisions before you arrive. Although the property provides an oasis of calm and you might be tempted just to chill out 'at home', the area has such a wealth of interesting villages, castles etc that the guest will find that it is ideally situated for exploring the surrounding wine country and much more. We are so glad that we got to spend two wonderful weeks here and we will definitely return.

Endroit enchanteur, ideal pour faire un break!
Un cadre enchanteur, tant a l'interieur de la maison qu'a l''exterieur. Seul le bruit du vent dans les vignes viendra (peut etre) perturber votre serenite. L'accueil de Laurence est de plus excellent (and more than welcoming, it makes you feel at home in a few secs).

Private retreat
This place is ideal for couples looking for a relaxed private getaway. Set amongst acres of vines, all you will hear are the birds, the bees in the lavender and the hum of the occasional tractor as local farmers work the vines. The garden is delightful and during our mid-summer stay the pool was fabulous. The greeting from the owner was very warm and the "welcome pack" of beers, wine, cheeses, bread, pate and other assorted goodies was extremely generous. A car is necessary but not far from the house great restaurants, beautiful towns, markets and wonderful country-side abound. But if you want to just "do nothing", this is the place to do it.

Luxury and tranquility amidst the vines...
We spent two wonderful weeks in this very private and peaceful gite. Everything is laid out perfectly for your convenience. Step out from the luxury of the house itself on to the ample and shaded terrace, and just a few steps more take you into the pool. This was really appreciated during the great weather when we were greeted with blue skies and high temperatures almost every day. The location is ideal for walking and mountain biking from the gite and there is plenty of wildlife to enjoy in the surrounding area. Bordeaux and St Emillion are close by and great days out, as are the other Bastides in the area. Laurie's welcome and thoughtfulness made it a perfect stay for us, and we are looking forward to returning. Deb and Malcolm, Wantage, July 2015

Peace and quiet !!!!
We have never been back to the same place twice . . . . . . . before finding this place that is. This was our third visit to La Vieille Grange and we've already booked for next year too!! It is such a lovely property in such a fabulous tranquil location we just love it. Ideal for couples who just want peace and privacy. If you do want to have busier days then we recommend the Saturday market at Saint Foy La Grande (one of France's best!) and the market at Sauveterre de Guyenne on Tuesdays is also excellent. Once again Laurie proved to be an excellent host providing a very generous welcome pack and always available if required. Thanks Laurie!!

Fabulous Find . . . . . !!
From the moment we arrived we knew we were going to have a fabulous holiday. This property is situated in a beautiful part of France surrounded by vineyards. The house is tranquil and private. The interior is finished to a high standard and is fully equipped for holidaymakers whilst also maintaining charm and personal touch. Laurie is an excellent host, on hand for local knowledge if you need it but also allows you to enjoy your holiday in peace. This is a perfect location to enjoy France at it's best.

Wonderfully tranquil
This property is even more beautiful than the photos in reality. A very tranquil spot, totally relaxing with a lovely homely feel. Furnished to an exceptionally high standard and well equipped, with an extremely comfortable bed in the most beautiful bedroom ever. We shopped on the way in not quite believing that the welcome pack would tide us over the Saturday night and Sunday morning but we were wrong - it was very generous and we could have just arrived and settled in! The area is lovely although we did not travel too far. Good for cycling locally and for the wine tour around St Emillion. Laurie was very thorough in his arrangements and preparing the property, lots of little touches that make a difference especially not having to obtain household items, all you need is there. Scampi the lovely cat was an added bonus for us, we could have just moved in forever.......... Sometimes a property has that certain something, a good feel about it, we have only truly experienced this twice in many years of renting in France and Spain and this was one of them. We plan to return next year.

A wonderful week
We were anticipating our week in region, and were very impressed by the description and photos of the property - the seclusion, the pool, the property, the accommodation. Yet, the reality even exceeded our expectations. Laurie is a wonderful host - and the welcome package is thoughtful and very much appreciated. The morning visit by the dame d'épicerie ensured we were always stocked up on croissants, bageuttes, fruit and vegetables. And although we had traveled to Bordeaux to tour the villages and vineyards, it was often difficult to convince ourselves to leave the relaxed comfort of La Vieille Grange. We will be back.

An absolutely lovely place to stafy
The welcome was really genuine and exemplary. the welcome pack was the best we have ever received at a holiday rental and meant we did not have to worry about shopping til the next day.Laurie showed us around everything and we did not have to work out how to use or work anything. The location was peaceful but with amenities within a 10 min drive. The property was spotless and faultlessly maintained and we would recommend it to anyone - wonderful.

Beautiful!
A fantastic, secluded holiday, perfect to get away from it all. The house has been beautifully converted to a very high standard. Laurie, the owner, was on hand to answer any questions we had and the welcome hamper was lovely! The pool was perfect and the house was supplied with everything that you may need on holiday. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Perfect for peace and tranquility. Lots of interesting old villages to explore (Castillon, Pujols, St Emillion and Sauveterre to name a few). Highly recommend the a day or two in Bordeaux. The drive to Arcachon took us about two hours, but worth it to see the HUGE sand dunes. Lovely inland lakes Lac du la Cadie and Lac Gurson well worth a visit too. Couldn't recommend staying here highly enough!

La Vieille Grange. Ruch.
Beautiful, well maintained and clean property in a wonderful setting. It was very well equipped and nothing was too much trouble for the owner. The pretty garden and swimming pool were perfect with numerous sitting out areas. We hope to return there next year. Thankyou.

Too good to be True? Not so....
Where to start? Peace in beautiful surroundings, It rained everyday during our stay but the location was perfect, the house warm and cosy and Laurie was an excellent host, available when needed but otherwise unseen. A walk around Laurie's meadow watching butterflies was like a step back into childhood. Wonderful....

Splendide
Our stay in Ruch fantastic. The house has been very well renovated and is very nicely furnished. We've enjoyed a very quiet and peaceful environment: nothing around to disturb you, the house is only surrounded by wineyards. Nice way to discover a really typical French countryside, small villages, local markets with fresh and tasty products, and wineries. No bad surprises: the house is really how it looks like on the photos and Laurie has been a very welcoming guest. We highly recommend this house if u want to spend some days in the South West of France. Car ( convertible :-)) needed.

We love this place!
Everything about La Vieille Grange = Relaxation! Its very private, in an amazing location and a perfect place to get away from it all. Our stay was filled with bbq's, great wines, walks and swimming. It's a really spacious property, with private gardens and was well equipped with everything that we needed including easy acccess to wi-fi for the iPads! Unless you are a keen walker I would recommend having a car (open top :) I would have no hesitation in recommending this property. We've already booked to return this summer for 3 weeks and counting the days...

Short stay
We stayed at Laurie's place for three nights, the main attraction being he was more than willing to offer us this shorter time span that the standard week The property is in a very quiet part of the area, approached by a longish driveway The house has all the amenities, and some, you could be looking for in a holiday rental.....fabulously stocked kitchen being prime The pool area is nicely screened behind an out building, and is in excellent state of repair & cleanliness We received the, what looks as standard, hosts reception and basket of local produce, a really great touch from Laurie He spent some time explaining the layout, functions etc before departing I would readily recommend Laurie and his house to others....he initially made us feel very welcome & then left us to enjoy our relaxing stay

Location, location, location.......perfect!
The website photos seemed too good to be true. However, our expectations were exceeded by the reality. On the one hand we were, for selfish reasons, reluctant to share our secret hideaway with others, but on the other hand it needs to be said that La Vieille Grange is the perfect romantic destination. It is indeed a true reflection of rural France. Surrounded by beautiful vineyards above a wooded valley, this historic old house has been sensitively refurbished and tastefully decorated offering the ideal combination of style and comfort. The discreet owner, Laurie, is the perfect host – welcoming and most obliging, offering information and suggestions for activities in St Emilion and the surrounding areas. We have every intention of returning to La Vieille Grange for another holiday and that is surely an indication of our recommendation to anyone considering this property.

Lovely holiday home to get away from it all
A lovely week was spent by my girlfriend and I in Laurie's house about 20km from the beautiful town of St. Emilion. The property is set amongst the vines of a local vineyard and provides a secluded setting to get away from it all. A car is a necessity, but with one the places of interest are not too far away, including Bordeaux being less than an hour away. We were welcomed by the home owner, Laurie, who also provided us with a wonderful basket of food and local wine, which was very well received by us! The house had everything we needed, including great open kitchen and dining areas (indoor & outdoor) along with washing machine, internet & TV, and a splendid bedroom upstairs. A great wee break in a property that I would recommend to any couple wanting a quiet week relaxing and unwinding!
