Fabulous pool
We made a late booking. We only had the downstairs of the property and it was absolutely fine for the price we paid. I knew it wasn’t a luxury holiday home when I booked but it has a really lovely private pool and that’s why we chose it. The area is nice but quite isolated - which was fine for our week of total relaxation. We were bothered by biting insects (mosquitos and horse flies) which kind of spoiled the first few days but as it is surrounded by vineyards maybe we should have expected that? We just made sure to keep all the doors and windows shut! There isn’t any insect screens on the windows so it meant keeping them shut the whole week. The kitchen is well equipped. Beds were firm but ok. I brought my own pillow but my husband didn’t - and regretted it. The games room has table tennis, pétanque, and a darts board all of which we made use of. The games room is a bit shabby but great to have on site. There are also bbqs but we didn’t use them. Communication with the owner was excellent throughout. Overall a good experience and very nice people.

Would go back again!!
We had a fabulous 3 week stay at Le Roc Nord this summer. The farmhouse was extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean. We like to mainly self-cater and the kitchen was perfect for that. We ate out a couple of times nearby at L'Un des Sens at Villefranche-de-Longchat and Le Pressoir at St Meard de Gurson, both were excellent. We enjoyed exploring the area and spending long afternoons relaxing by the pool. My husband and I had a couple of weeks by ourselves and our 'twenty-something' daughters joined us for week 3, with Bordeaux Airport just over an hour away it was easy to collect them from there, it was the perfect arrangement. We had 3 weeks of glorious weather and I'm sure that the only reason we were able to prise ourselves away from Le Roc Nord was due to the rain on the morning of our departure. If you're thinking of booking Le Roc Nord, do it, you won't be disappointed. We can't wait to go back.

cosy winter stay
The house was lovely and warm during our stay in early January. We were out most of the day house hunting but when we got back, the house was always warm and welcoming, nestled in amongst the misty vineyards. The beautifully clean and well equipped kitchen was our base in the evenings where we set up camp with our computer and paperwork on the large farmhouse table. Our bedroom was a lovely size and the bed was nice and wide and very comfy and the en-suite bathroom certainly catered for all our needs. After popping in soon after our arrival to welcome us and show us the workings of the house Sue kept out of the way - but we knew she and Tom were only next door if we had need of any help or advice. The house was as described in the advert - and even better than we hoped - and we had a very enjoyable and restful time. We would not hesitate to stay there again if in the area - and would certainly recommend them to our friends.

Wonderful farmhouse
We had a wonderful 8 day holiday at Le Roc Nord, there were four of us, myself & my husband & we travelled from Australia & had a reunion with my brother & nephew from England. Difficult to explain without superlatives just what a great stay we had. The farmhouse was lovely, very well maintained & extremely comfortable & Tom & Sue were perfect hosts. There is plenty to see in the region & we visited the markets in St Foy, had an amazing day in St Emilion (in fact we loved it so much we returned a couple of days later & came back loaded with wine. We also visited Bordeaux and several small towns & villages. Sue was very helpful with recommending restaurants, we were spoilt for choice. The kitchen was so well stocked that we ate in on several evenings, enjoying all the lovely French foods that we could easily obtain from markets & Le Clerc supermarket. I would recommend Le Roc Nord to anyone, families, couples, children, all are well catered for, swimming pool was a bonus, also the barbecues. I wish I was still there !! Thanks Sue & Tom for everything.

A slice of paradise
Le Roc Nord turned out to be one of those special places that stays with you long after you have left. In our minds we are still swimming in the pool, lounging in the garden with a book, playing badminton on the lawn, savouring long, leisurely meals outdoors or maybe walking through the vines to sample the delights of the wine co-operative at St Vivien. This beautiful home had everything we could have wanted, and more! We loved baking in the kitchen (which is far better stocked than the one we have at home!) and passing the goodies out through the shutters to one of the outdoor tables. Every window in the farmhouse has views of the grapevines stretching away in all directions or of the vibrant gardens. Indoors, everything was spotlessly clean and tastefully done, with a real feeling of attention to detail. The space has been so well thought out, with lovely ensuites in both downstairs bedrooms, so since it was just the two of us, we took one each! (Two couples could easily share the ground floor and still have a feeling of privacy and plenty of room to themselves, both indoors and out). Sue and Tom - perfect hosts who provide that rare mixture of warmth and professionalism - have a wealth of local information and we found the folders and reading material they have created for guests extremely helpful. When we could tear ourselves away from the farmhouse, we loved our visits to St Emilion, which was only a short drive away, Bergerac, Bordeaux and the seaside resort of Arcachon (nearby, we climbed the highest sand dune in Europe). For shopping, the mixture of local markets and superstores provided an enormous range of French delicacies (and were a destination in themselves). There is so much to see and do in this wonderful part of the world and Le Roc Nord is perfectly situated at the heart of it all, while still providing a peaceful, idllyic retreat in glorious surroundings. We are already planning our next visit to the farmhouse - for a fortnight this time. Meanwhile, when we count our blessings we'll count this holiday twice!

Stunning Gite in a perfect location
We had a fabulous time staying in this stunning Gite nestled amongst the vines in a peaceful and picturesque little hamlet. My husband and I and our two young children enjoy very much the heated private pool and endless amount of space and freedom that our little ones could enjoy. We had lovely days out to St Emillion and a lovely picnic at Chateau Bridoire where the girls got to play some old fashioned wooden games. I would 100% recommend this Gite to anyone. Thank you Sue and Tom for a fab week. See you soon

Le Roc Nord
We stayed at La Roc Nord for a Week with our 21 year old Son and his girlfriend. Set in the middle of vinyards, it gave us every thing we needed. Table tennis and Badminton for father / son compertition. The best pool we've had in many years of staying in France, heated to take the chill off when you get in. The house is very comfortable, well equiped and has a good quality kitchen with everything we needed. Bathrooms are excellent with plenty of hot water. The bedrooms are spasious as is the living room, with plenty of room for all 4 of us to spread out (our son is nearly 6ft 6 tall). Sue and Tom are lovely people and are about if you want them but not intrusive. There is plenty to do in the area and we went wine tasting and buying! Canoeing on the Dordogne; a fun day. We loved looking round the many markets in the area and hope to go back to Le Roc Nord next Summer with out other son and his girlfriend.

Le Roc Nord
A wonderful gite located in the middle of vineyard The property and facilities are much nicer that they apear on the website and Tom and Sue, the owners are helpful and friendly without being intrusive. The two Labradors Percy and Dudley are lovely friendly and well trained but are very well behaved so if you don't like dogs they won't bother you. We love Le roc Nord so much this year is the 3 rd year in a row There is lot's to do in the area so you can simply chill out by the pool or visit the many local attractions

Le Roc Nord
My husband, myself and a friend had a week at Le Roc Nord and had a wonderful holiday. Tom and Sue were extremely welcoming and helpful and the gite was very comfortable and well equipped, with a lovely pool and garden. The area is beautiful with lots of ancient chateaux and churches and the River Dordogne is lovely for walks or canoeing. Plenty of nice local restaurants with good value lunch menus and for a special treat we would recommend La Poudette in Pujols: quite expensive, but worth every centime!

Le Roc
We have just enjoyed our third stay at Le Roc Nord, we found that everything is as described and more. The owners, sue and Tom are very friendly and helpful. They have two beautiful black labradors that are extremely friendly, our four year old grandson made them his best friends from the first visit. Fantastic surroundings of vineyards giving plenty of privacy. It is a short walk to the small village of St Vivien, a five minute drive to the local wine co-operative with a good choice of local wines at very good prices. There are supermarkets within a 10 minute drive, plus a superb Saturday market at nearby Ste. Foy LeGrande. All in all we have thoroughly enjoyed our three stays of two weeks in the last four years.

Super Gite in the wine country
We arrived to be warmly greeted by Sue & Tom and and their two black labrador dogs, Percy & Dudley, shown around the house and its facilities, i.e. two very comfortable en-suit bedrooms, farmhouse kitchen/diner with all equipment, cosy lounge with lots of comfortable seating and English T/V. The surrounding gardens are their pride and joy, including the swimming pool which we didnt use because of the miserable weather. all together the property was very clean & well maintained and presented. The nearby town of Velines has a very good boulangerie for morning baguettes and croissants & patisserie, and the small village of St Viviene is a must for wine buffs at the Alliance Aquitaine wine Co.operative. Places to visit must include St. Emilion, Bordeaux (a day trip), St Foy La Grande and the huge Le Clerc supermarket nearby(we could'nt keep away), Bergerac, where Cyrano still stands on his pedestal overlooking the square and a river trip on a Gabare is time well spent. We would highly recommend a visit to Harvey's restaurant at Moncaret, right on the main street and run by an English couple offering French cuisine at its best. We have no hesitation in highly recommending this property for its quality, its location, and its facilities and peaceful surroundings
