Great location. A really lovely, cosy cottage. Perfect for our little break away.
Definitely bring non-slip socks/house shoes as hard wood floors throughout are slippery - 3 year old on the stairs was daunting.
Would definitely recommend.
The cottage was very cleaned and neatly organised with clear guidance as to the rules of the stay which were easy to follow. There were some lovely local products in the cottage as a welcome gift which was very much appreciated. The cottage was plenty big enough for four of us and was located in a very picturesque village with a local shop and lovely pub. We used the cottage as a base to explore the local area and we were very close to a lot of beautiful beaches and local towns. Overall, we were highly impressed with The Shippen and would certainly stay again in the future.
Cottage was very well equipped with everything we needed, incredibly clean and very well located for Putsborough and Woolacombe. Very comfy beds and good shower! We loved the walk down to the little Ford in West Down - it’s a pretty village with a great pub.
The photographs do not do justice to the lounge area. The room and seating is much more generous than the pictures suggest. Mind your head in the bedrooms!
Beautiful property. Essentials in the kitchen for us when we arrived and needed a cuppa after a long journey.
Rooms are beautiful and its just a cosy home. Parking also a godsend. There was a lot of rain but 13 yo was loving the xbox so he wasnt moaning!
Totally recommend as a lovely place to stay and location is superb.
Stayed here as a base for me and my 13yr old to go surfing for the weekend! The cottage was absolutely brilliant and the village pub is amazing too, couldn’t recommend it enough!
Absolutely stunning cottage, beautifully and tastefully decorated. Spotlessly clean.
Host’s had left thoughtful welcome bits!
Cake, bread, milk, Prosecco.
Lovely neighbourhood, only thing is a little out of the way, as village pub was closed it meant we had to drive to go for food. Didn’t deter us though will definitely come back to this stunning cottage!
Pretty and well equipped cottage in central location to explore North Devon
The property is clean, cosy and well-equipped. It was perfect for us as a family of 4 with two boys under 8. Having the outside terrace and parking spaces is a bonus. There is a great shop and nice pub in the village. For other things you need to take a short drive, but you're only 20 minutes away from most things.
I loved the property as it was one of the best ones around by far when we were looking for a long stay in that area of North Devon. The local village was very cute and accessible to beaches and other amenities within a good distance. Only small issue was better network coverage for any remote working and mobile lines but it was fine and manageable. The owners spoke to use before we arrived to make sure it was ok.
We had a lovely week-long stay at the Shippen for our Summer holiday (2 adults, 2 children). Very clean upon arrival, well stocked kitchen (plus treats from the owners), comfy beds, peaceful location. Top-notch.
Thank you Kirsty for a great stay!
We had a lovely week at Kirsty's cottage. It was extremely clean and had everything we needed, including extras for our toddler & 5 yr old such as kids plates, a booster high chair and stair gate. The cottage is much larger than it looks from the photos and the bedrooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Great location in a lovely village too, perfect for exploring North Devon beaches and coast. Kirsty was a great host, very responsive and helpful with suggestions. Highly recommend!
Great property in a lovely village. It has everything you need. A beautiful cake was left for us to enjoy along with some other essentials. The village pub serves excellent food. Good location to visit areas of North Devon
Had a great week away at half-term. Although the beaches were very busy, West Down is a nice quiet village and well located less than 20 minutes away from multiple beaches. The property was clean and well presented. The kitchen had all the crockery, pans, utensils etc that could be needed. Some welcoming touches such as a lovely Victoria Sponge and milk in the fridge. There were also all the basics such as coffee, dishwasher tablets etc to keep you going until you went shopping. We did have a problem with a leaky shower, but I can’t fault the communication from Kirsty and the matter was resolved as quickly as possible.
We had a great time visiting Woolacombe. The cottage was cosy, comfortable, clean and nicely located near towns and the beaches.
I would recommend visiting this cosy little cottage in any season.
