5* Gorgeous Stone Cottage in an Idyllic Picture Postcard Village. Parking/Garden

Gorgeous 17th Century Cotswold Stone Cottage, in Blockley (a Picture Postcard Village, in the heart of the North Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Historically the Old Coach House to a Manor House, which has been stunningly renovated and restored into what can now only be described as your very own Luxury Escape from the World of hustle and bustle.

The Interior is both Contemporary and Classic, with that real Home from Home English Country Feel to it.

The Cottage has had a complete Interior Makeover, which has been meticulously designed and planned out by the owner (also an Interior Designer) who has owned a couple of other Holiday Properties and is basing the Look and Feel of this little Gem, on many of her own travel experiences and selecting all the best ingredients to make your time at Lanterns as comfortable, relaxed and enjoyable as possible.

The end result is like staying in your very own Private Boutique Hotel -( without the staff or the Restaurant in house ! ) with no other guests accept you and your friends or family to spend your time away with.

Perfectly located right in the heart of the most gorgeous English Countryside (you can't really get much more quintessentially English than this Village, and it is still very much a Lived in Village with just a handful of Holiday Cottages, together with 1 Hotel, a thriving and sought after Pub (within a stones throw from the cottage), a delightful Village Shop and a great little Cafe, offering scurmptions breakfasts / lunches and occassional evening events, if you don't want to cook or travel too far.

Blockley itself is a delight, and used to have 12 Mills back in the day, many of which can still be found, around the Babbling Blockley Brook . (a place to make great memories for Children and Adults alike). There are numerous walks from the gentle near by paths to the fabulous planned routes all across the stunning Cotswold Countryside. (Do bring your Wellingtons / Walking Boots if you can !)

Detached Stone Cottage,
Hand Made / Hand Painted Kitchen with all the main appliances you will need for your stay (Range Oven, Fridge, Freezer, Microwave, Washer/Dryer, Dishwasher, Kettle, Toaster, Nespresso Coffee Machine, Fully equipped with most of the items you would probably need for a Home from Home break away, and most equipment available too for any budding cooks out there).

Private Walled Garden with 2 Patio Areas (one lower and one upper to catch the last rays of the evening sun, with a BBQ on upper level too).

Parking for 2 Cars (if more parking needed there is free on street parking nearby).

Walk to Pub (it's just over the road, couldn't get much more handy), Village centre a short walk away, Childrens Play Park just a stones throw away too, beautiful babbling brooks and surrounding countryside to take your breath away all around you.

Blockley is one of the Cotswolds hidden Secrets, away from the busier Tourist Towns, but close enough to visit them all without being in the car for hours.

Chipping Campden - 3 Miles
Broadway - 5 Miles
Moreton in Marsh - 4 Miles
Stow on the Wold - 6 Miles
Daylesford Organic Farm Shop - 9 Miles
Soho Farmhouse and other places are slightly further afield but not too far away (all within around 1/2 hour to an hours drive) you will find Stratford upon Avon, Cheltenham, Oxford, Cotswold Water Park etc

Minimum 3 Night Stay (however, please do enquire for 2 night rate out of season, as this may be possible if not booked back to back)

Arrival anytime from 4pm, can arrange an earlier check in if not booked immediately before your start date. Please plan to vacate the Cottage by 11am on your day of Departure so that there is enough time to prepare it as you found it for the next Guests staying.

Living my PBS dream
The house and village are truly an idyllic picture postcard. The house is roomy and wonderfully decorated. Blockley is beautifully charming. It's surrounded by peaceful pastures with sheep. The village is very close to Oxford and London. You can definitely hit Blenheim Palace and Bletchly Park if you want to on your trip. There are lots of great nearby restaurants and walks. I highly recommend Blockley over the larger nearby villages.

The perfect base for your Cotswolds visit
This is a sterling property wonderfully situated in the most perfect village. Impeccably and thoughtfully restored and equipped. Owners have exceptional taste and thought of everything to make renters comfortable. The kitchen is a marvel of organization. Both bedrooms and bathrooms (we used the third to store our luggage) very spacious and luxurious. Blockley is an ideal place to base your stay in the Cotswolds. It is utterly beautiful, and while very well-located and proximate to the places you want to go, it is somehow off the radar and not heavily touristed. So it provides a very authentic experienced of life there. Laurel provided a wealth of very good recommendations for restaurants, services and sightseeing. The house manual is the best we've ever seen! The pub at the end of the small road where the house is set with two others was closed for two weeks while we were there, but otherwise would have been a great 2-minute walk convenience for meals or pints. Local store has everything. Can't imagine a better place to choose for our stay and feel very lucky we found it.

Lovely stay in Blockley
The Lanterns was a wonderful house for our family of six. After eating out for 12 straight days, it was a perfect place to cook with a great kitchen and outdoor grill! Lauren, our host was a big help with suggestions of nearby restaurants and grocery stores. She also handled a slight plumbing issue very quickly! The neighbors were very nice as well. We would definitely stay here again and love a return to the Cotswolds!

A quiet country cottage in a quaint small village was everything we hoped for. Great host and great home. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a nice home without the tourist crowds but close enough to drive to all the beauty the Cotswold offer.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful village
We had a wonderful week in Blockley. The cottage was so comfortable with every amenity we needed. The village was great with an excellent pub, a village shop and a cafe with a terrific chef. There were lovely walks and it was a great location for our day trips out and about.

Great home in the heart of the Cotswolds and terrific host
The cottage was ideally situated for a Cotswolds vacation, and the village of Blockley was very cute and non-touristy, with a nice pub and cafe. The house was in excellent condition when we arrived, just as it had appeared in photos. Lauren was a terrific host, answering questions right away and providing excellent suggestions for restaurants, walks, etc. In addition to her usual welcome basket (which was excellent, as noted in many other reviews), she left us a bottle of champagne because she knew we were celebrating a birthday. We especially appreciated the easy parking and how well stocked the kitchen was, in addition to the welcoming fireplace and throws in the living room and the heated bathroom and kitchen floors, which made the house extra cozy. The house was really a comfortable place for 4 adults to come home to each day. We'll be back!

Wonderful stay!
I’m a picky traveler and this was hands down my favorite Vrbo we have ever rented. The town is adorable with the cutest cafe and I liked that the town wasn’t super busy. The accommodations are high end and felt like a hotel and really thoughtful. Such quaintness with luxury. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Idyllic Cotswold cottage and village
We recently stayed at Lanterns for four nights.....oh how we wish we could've stayed longer. The cottage was perfect for two couples in their 60s. All the furnishings were beautiful and the beds were so comfortable. We really enjoyed eating at some of the gastropubs in the area. The Cotswolds is my favorite part of England and Lanterns was the perfect getaway to enjoy it. Thank you to Lauren for the wonderful hospitality.....we really appreciated the welcome basket and all the amenities of the property. We'll definitely be back!!

Cozy comfort
Visiting Cotwold’s for 6 days, split between lodgings. This stone cottage provided the perfect setting and was very accommodating for 5 people, perhaps best stocked kitchens of all rentals, ever. Dual-facing wood stove provided nice touch for dinner and sitting room. Recommend Cotswold Baking Shop if interested in afternoon baking lessons. Thanks to the hosts for providing an extremely welcoming place to relax!

The perfect Cotswold cottage
What a picturesque property. Spacious and comfortable, beautifully appointed both inside and out. I can honestly say that the photos do not do it justice. The beds, pillows and the other furniture were all very comfortable. Better than may hotels. The outside space was a welcome respite for drinks and a snack after a day of touring the Cotswolds. The host Lauren was wonderful. Prior to our arrival, she provided a comprehensive list of places to visits as well as places to eat. The welcome basket was over the top and the kitchen was generously stocked as well. We would visit this property again, without question.

Delightful home in wonderful Blockley
Lanterns is a truly beautiful home right in the heart of Blockley (which is a tiny little town but features a shop and cafe and pub and a great playground and central location). The rooms are spacious and wonderfully furnished, the kitchen is well equipped - really a five star place. The host provided excellent restaurant recommendations and was a pleasure to communicate with. Highly recommended!

Terrific Cotswolds spot
We had a fabulous long weekend stay at "The Lanterns" - from the overflowing welcome basket/provisions to immaculate and spacious accommodations (including a well equipped kitchen and very comfortable beds!) it was just ideal. The location is a perfect location for touring several Cotswolds towns. Lauren kindly provided an early arrival, and her good suggestions on pubs/shopping, etc made everything work seamlessly. The proximity of a good pub out the front door proved very handy, and Blockley has a great little general store. The walking trails out the back of the cottage were an extra bonus. We were super-impressed all around and will be back!

Great communication from owner, a lovely cottage in a great location. Beautiful ‘Cotswold’ places to visit, all close by. Do as little or as much as you want. A group of 6 mature ladies had our annual get together and we loved every minute of our stay. Go to the Brockley Cafe, great good and staff, you can BYO for £10 corkage. Wonderful 3 night break for a relaxed girls trip
Lanterns is a beautiful property situated in a quaint village, with lovely modern upgrades alongside the cottage's original features. It was a lovely space to stay for our group of 6, with very comfortable beds and gorgeous, hotel standard bathrooms. We particularly enjoyed the rain showers. The kitchen was very well equipped and clean. Lauren, our host, was very helpful when we could not seem to get the oven working and when we left behind a few items. She also sent some very helpful recommendations ahead of our stay for local things to do and places to eat, which we followed and found to be excellent. We would highly recommend a stay at Lanterns - you won't regret it!

We had an enjoyable stay at the cottage. Although the weather became quite hot the interior stayed nice and cool so we had no trouble sleeping on the comfortable beds. The house is in a great location, opposite the local pub and not far from the A44 for getting around.

Host profile image
I have travelled & lived in a few different countries around the world, and moved several times within the UK throughout my life. I am an Interior Designer and Property Developer with my husband, James. We have two Children, a dog (who loves the walks in the Cotswolds !), a cat and chickens ! I used to own a Holiday House down by the Coast and I managed it personally for several years. We then sold it as we bought a run down Grade Listed 16th Century Property, which we have been totally renovating for the last 4 years, where we currently live near Stratford upon Avon (so not too far from the Cottage).

Why they chose this property

It has been a dream of mine for many years to own our very own little stone cottage in the Cotswolds, and now that dream has come true. I have always loved what I feel to be the most quintessential area of England that we can offer .. Villages in the Cotswolds are Magical, the countryside is stunning, the walks are endless and it is so easy to get to so many places from this area. A Great Base to Explore. It was easy deciding to buy this beautiful cottage - I had been looking for 2 years and must have viewed around 40 cottages in all areas over the Cotswolds. Blockley is one of the best kept secrets, so is not overly touristy, it is fabulous, has a real community feel to it, so easy to get to other key towns and villages (Chipping Campden and Broadway being a couple of my personal favourites) and the cottag itself was just in the right setting, private but near to everything, and the perfect size - not too big and not too small, both inside and outside.

What makes this property unique

I love the fact that Lanterns is around 300 ish years old, yet it feels both contemporary and traditional all at the same time.
Thick Stone Walls with Window Seats, Loads of Light, Stone Floors, Fireplace, Cosy Rooms with all your home from home comforts. Private Garden areas and a place to really, really unwind - Time to "Just Be".
