About the host
Hosted by Tess Murray
I grew up in this area and attended school in nearby Central London, later working in the film industry in the UK and abroad as well as pursuing an academic career at UK universities. I now have a young family and spilt my time about equally between Central Europe and London. The studio is in the garden of our main family home.
Why they chose this property
I chose to bring my family back to this area because Richmond really does have it all: access to the cultural feast that is London as well as the community, lovely cafes and eateries, green space and brilliant transport links found here. Kew Gardens is quite literally on the doorstep of this property and offers a spectacular escape from city life as well as music and educative events. Richmond Park is another favourite destination with its deer spotting, varied landscapes and horse riding. Richmond Riverside is another lovely local spot particularly at the weekends where a farmer's market, traditional English pubs, boaters, buskers and locals as well as visitors collide happily. Richmond is a place of so many happy memories that we are always delighted to come back and visit ourselves as well as open our home to guests.
What makes this property unique
The studio offers a cosy retreat from city life with convenience and style. The garden setting means that the property is relatively peaceful by London standards although buses, trains and the metro can be reached within minutes. The setting is also very private and secure, a must for solo travellers as well as though looking for an escape from everyday life.
