If you are looking for a traditional Scottish cottage in Perthshire then look no further than The Lodge Cottage; a detached, 1700s stone-built cottage with the walls to prove it. This cottage, and its host working farm, is ready and waiting to welcome you and your family to this popular tourist area.
In 2018 the property benefitted from a series of refurbishments, which all add to the welcoming feel of the place. Being all on one level, The Lodge Cottage is both accessible and homely, with modern fixtures and fittings; you are sure to feel right at home.

Who doesn’t love a south-facing garden? Not only does The Lodge Cottage have one, but there is also a view that is sure to capture your imagination as you relax and unwind. All the best plans are made in the garden and this area has lots to offer…
Crieff, 7 miles, is where you will find several amenities, including a popular delicatessen, cafés and a supermarket, as well as an array of shops. But, perhaps more appealing, is ‘The Famous Grouse whisky distillery’, at Glenturret, where you can take a tour – you might even get a taste! Several events are also held throughout the year, including ‘The Crieff Highland Games’ and autumn’s ‘Drovers’ Tryst Walking Festival’.

You will be in your element in this area if you are a fan of the outdoors, as the mountains call walkers, hikers and cyclists alike. Loch Earn is ideal for water sports and there are plenty of fishing, golfing, cycling and horse riding opportunities in the surrounding area. Speaking of horse riding, based on the farm there is an equestrian eventing facility, amongst 80 acres of wooded parkland, where you could tackle some of the 100 cross country jumps. If you prefer to stay on your own two feet then walking with the wildlife is highly recommended.

If all that outdoor activity leaves you in search of some retail therapy or a good night out, then the city of Perth is just 7 miles away. Here you will be spoilt for choice with places to wine and dine. You could even go to the theatre! A great way to experience the city is to take a boat trip on the River Tay (seasonal). This area has lots to offer, not least its many historic castles, including Scone Palace, Drummond Castle and Garden, Stirling Castle, Doune Castle, Hopetoun House and for fans of the TV series ‘Outlander’, there are numerous locations used in the making of the series. Edinburgh, Stirling and Glasgow are all easily accessible for day trips. What are you waiting for?

Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Please note: By prior arrangement with the owner, guests can bring their horse or pony, or book tuition with the renowned equestrian eventing centre, which is within walking distance.

We had a wonderful week in the lodge.

We had a wonderful week in the lodge. Location was ideal and the lodge has everything you need after a day out exploring. The furnishings are lovely and the heating is always on so you adjust it to the temperature that suits. Howard is a marvellous host and was keen to resolve our minor issue with the internet, which he did asap. We could not have asked for more.

The cottage was lovely and well appointed and there are are well thought out finishing touches just to make your stay that little bit nicer, I think everything was thought of! We were a bit concerned when some of the reviews said the cottage was near the main road, which it is, but for us this did not detract one bit of our stay. The cottage and the location are perfect for nearby and further afield attractions (we did a two hour trip to Balmoral which was well worth it just for the drive alone!) and the cottage is soundproofed very well. We (and the dog) were made to feel really welcomed by the hosts, Howard and Hazel who are very nice people and are also knowledgeable of the area and are more than happy to advise some of the best places to go. They only want you to have a good time whilst staying in the cottage and you are free to explore the farm as well. We had a fantastic time and when we return to Scotland we would not hesitate to stay at the Lodge Cottage again, we thoroughly recommend it and believe you will not be disappointed!

The cottage was lovely and well situated for walking with lots of nice touches.

The cottage was lovely and well situated for walking with lots of nice touches....chocolates, fizzy wine, biscuits. All excellent. However, immediately on arrival Steve was asked if he was going to leave the place in a mess. The dogs had to be on the beds provided and only in the porch or utility room. Throws were put on all the furniture even though I could assure the owners my dogs were used to travel and do not go on the furniture. We were warned not to let the dogs touch the side of the couch and to hoover carefully where they had been. When I asked what to do with the keys because I wanted to get away early to beat the shopping traffic I was asked was I leaving early because I’d left the place in a mess! I’m a 60 year old lady and know how to live in a cottage in a civilised manner. We always tidy up and it felt insulting. When I objected to the tone I just got a gruff grunt in response. So although the cottage was lovely we felt a little uncomfortable in case we were accused of leaving anything dirty or in the wrong place or whatever. I even took photos as we left in case we had to provide we didn’t leave it in a mess. I must have been in dozens of cottages over the year and have never felt the need to do that. The lady was lovely and I think they are new owners so perhaps a little anxious but we couldn’t relax with the dogs.

A truly lovely cottage well equipped with everything you could possibly need.

A truly lovely cottage well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Very thoughtful touches throughout. The views are great and dog proof garden a bonus. The road noise is a bit intrusive but the warm and cosy interior more than make up for it.
