Langthwaite is perfect for the outdoor enthusiasts. The wild, rugged and varied scenery provides miles of walks, both low-level, gentle strolls along the river and more challenging high-level walks. With high mountains and valleys lined with streams, there are endless footpaths around the most spectacular scenery. At the end of a long day of exploring, the cottage is within easy walking distance of two pubs. 8 miles further, the road climbs slowly up the valley to eventually reach the highest pub in England - the Tan Hill Inn.

The historic town of Richmond, famous for its castle and Georgian theatre, is around a 30-minute drive, and in the opposite direction is Barnard Castle, with its market, antique shops and famous Bowes Museum. The Forbidden Corner in Middleham is only 16 miles away. The picturesque Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are en-route, with many other pretty picture postcard villages to discover as you pass through. Shop 3 miles, pub 500 yards, restaurant ¾ mile.
