Ships Watch is a beautiful lake front estate with two separate homes - a main property home and separate pool house. Perfect for families looking for privacy and a resort setting for their vacation. Property boasts a one-of-a kind heated pool and connecting hot tub with direct lake views. Enjoy lovely lake views from almost every room in the homes. Located just minutes from Bemus point and the Chautauqua Institution - ensures you can enjoy all the area has to offer. 150 ft of lake frontage with extended dock perfect for fishing, jet ski's and boating. The front porch and yard make it easy to enjoy great sunrises.

Main home:
The main home has 5 bedrooms with 2 baths. Upper level bedroom resembles your own ship and has four built in twin beds - with their own light and power. Pull out trundles will add to the fun. Two twins beds in upper back bedroom. Large full bath nearby. Main level includes 2 first floor queen bedrooms and another large bedroom with bunk beds. The main areas includes multiple sitting, reading and dining areas with outstanding lake views. Large kitchen provides a second dining area. Front porch has rocking chairs and swing for those lake breezes.

Pool House:
The home has 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. Separate kitchenette and dining area including sink, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and Keurig. Lower bedroom has one full bed. Upper loft boasts 1 queen bed and two single beds - perfect for a family. Newly remodeled full upper level full bath. The pool house includes a poker style card table and bumper pool.

Pool Area:
Tired of boating for the day - relax in your own lake front resort area. Enjoy the heated in ground pool with integrated hot tub and waterfall. One of a kind design with direct lake views. Fire pit with seating for those late night gatherings. Patio furniture to enjoy the sun or shade. Heating of pool included in the cleaning fee.

Other Amenities:
Large dock and available boat slip. Dock far out to accommodate fishing and swimming. Two separate parking areas - lower and upper levels - including space for 1 trailer if needed. Two large screen TVs in each home. Cable. High speed internet and WIFI. Wall AC in both homes. Propane grill.

*Parking for a maximum of 6 vehicles (or 5 vehicles and 1 trailer). This includes the upper and lower parking lot. This is strictly enforced.
*Any group gatherings and events at this property are limited to the number of occupants (16 people at full capacity).

*This lake house is a family rental, located near year round residents. If you are looking for a party house, this is not the rental for you.

Vacation 2024

Second year at this property and just as satisfied as the first with the house and host. Great location for stops in Mayville, Bemus Point and Lakewood. Swimming in the pool was so much fun.

Lots to do!

Our family had a great time at this property. The scenery was fantastic and there was so much for everyone to do both on the property and in the surrounding area! We were disappointed with the number of bugs and spiders in the main house however. The dryer was extremely noisy and the house was kind of dated. The kitchen was well equipped and the outdoor grill was fantastic. Some of the bed linens were stained and one bed didn’t have a mattress pad. Great potential but we were a little disappointed because of the high cost.

Some pool problems

The house was very nice. Enough room to move around and lots of space outside. The only thing that was a problem was the pool. One of the guys who was staying with us was constantly checking on the pool being warm and the hot tub working.

Family Vacation

We had all the kids and grandkids - easier to pull off since Chautauqua is only 2 hours away. The property was exactly as advertised. Good location - short drive to Bemus or Lakewood. Enough bedrooms between the house and pool house to accommodate everyone and not feel cramped. Dining table was tight but we made it work. Pool is modest size but the grandkids loved it.

A gem on Chautauqua Lake

This property has it all!!! We’ve stayed here several times and loved it again this summer. Its location and amenities are absolutely perfect for groups who love activities on the lake and appreciate downtime together by the pool or hot tub. Our group had a boat and used the well equipped dock. No boat? There are two kayaks to use and you can catch fish right off the dock. Another favorite spot is visiting together under the covered porch with a divine view of the lake. The kitchen is well equipped and the home is very comfortable. The host is friendly and very responsive. Highly recommend this property!

Family time!

We had a very nice time at Ship’s Watch as this was our 2nd year! The owner was very responsive to questions and our family enjoyed the waterfront property as well as the pool. There are plenty of rooms for a large family and the house is well equipped for serving meals as well.

Our Happy Place

We returned for our family summer vacation for the 4th year at this location. We love it. The kids can spend hours in the pool, fishing is right off the dock, the neighborhood is quiet and great for bike and scooter riding, the location is convenient to the many options Chautauqua County has to offer, we can dock a boat for the week, and the accommodations are more than adequate for our family of 8 adults and 6 kids. We hope to return next year!

Great Experience Lakefront

Had a great stay with friends and family celebrating my upcoming 40th birthday! The property is beautiful. It comfortably accommodated everyone, and having two separate buildings made it easy for some to stay up late playing games in the pool house while others could comfortably and quietly get to sleep in the main house. Would love to be back in the future!

My happy place stay 2022

This was our 3rd time staying at this property. I can't say enough how wonderful our hosts Jill and Larry are and how beautiful everything is in the house. My children and grandchildren enjoy their time together here and are kept busy whether it is swimming in the wonderful pool or spending time in the boat house hanging out and watching movies together. Any issue or question we have is answered or taken care of immediately by the owners. We love it so much we have already booked for next year.

A Week of Fun!

We had a great stay. My husband and I stayed in the pool house and could go to bed earlier than the rest. Our whole family enjoyed the game room playing bumper pool and playing cards and dice games on the table. The pool was used many hours everyday and we rented a pontoon boat for 2 days. Keep in mind it is well water and bring lots of bottled water. We did not have any water for about two hours after we arrived. The owners were very good to help us. The hose filling up the pool had been left on which caused the problem. We went to the Ellicottville Brewing on Bemus Point and also the Southern Tier Distilling Company in Lakewood. Enjoyed both of those. Had s’mores at the fire pit. The Air conditioning units kept the rooms cool but did allow some insects and flies into the houses. All in all it was a great stay.

Beautiful lake front

We lucked out with fabulous weather for 2 weeks while staying at 2 lake front cottages. The pool & hot tub were fun. The dock is very secure & steady with a very nice bench at the end of the dock. This frequently enjoyed by almost everyone for a quiet peaceful time. The main house has a well stocked kitchen that is most conveniently well labled. There was plenty of room of all 14 of us.

Great home for the family to develop special memories together. Relatives have owned properties on the lake for years. Boating, kayaking, fishing and swimming are some of the things everyone in the family enjoys together. Also, the pool area has a resort setting with a sense of privacy as you enjoy time away - which is what vacation is about. What makes this property unique

Purchased property in late 2016 given the ideal setup and unique location: within 5-7 minutes of Bemus point and the Chautauqua Institution. Also provides easy and close access to Jamestown for shopping, food, supplies, etc. Fishing in the area is great. Most importantly, it is a unique property. Might be the only property on lake with a heated pool area - overlooking the water. You can no longer build in that manner. Also, having two homes allows our extended family to spend time together - but still have privacy when needed. Finally, it is a special place for the kids to hang out together - given the pool, hot tub, dock for fishing and boating. The kids especially enjoy hanging out in their own ship bedroom with the 6 twin beds.
