Keble Cottage is a delightful family friendly 2 bedroom Croft cottage, dating back to the 15th Century, and is part of the original birthplace and home of John Keble, famous English Clergyman and poet.
It sits in a secluded and private location, behind high dry stone walls and a sweeping lime-tree lined drive, yet benefits from being right in the heart of Fairford, just a 2 minute walk from local pubs and eateries and a 5 minute walk from the High Street.
Fairford is a wonderful place to stay to enjoy all that the Cotswolds offers. From the pretty Cotswold villages nestled in unspoilt countryside on its doorstep (such as Coln St. Aldwyn, Quenington, Bibury and Barnsley), to the famous market towns of Cirencester and Burford nearby. Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold are slightly further afield., and Oxford and Cheltenham are also within around 40-50 minute drive by car.
A picturesque town, situated on the River Coln and near the Cotswold Water Park, Fairford attracts many visitors. It is home to a world famous church. It has an abundance of café’s, pubs, restaurants and shops. There are a lot of walking routes around lakes and countryside. And it has a great park and playground (just behind the cottage) for little ones to run off steam if they still have any energy left.
The cottage itself has a comfortable living area with two 2-seater sofas and an armchair. Downstairs there is a double bedroom with a kingsize bed and a bathroom (with bath). Upstairs are two single beds (which can be joined into a double) and a shower room with toilet.
The kitchen has an electric oven / gas hob, a full size fridge freezer, a washing machine, microwave, kettle and toaster, plus a dining table to seat 4. There is a TV and DVD player for entertainment, and a woodburner for those chilly autumn and winter days.
The cottage has a large, private garden, with gates that can be shut to secure it from the drive. And parking is on the gravel courtyard at the front of the cottage and can accommodate several cars. The drive to the cottage is shared with the owner and with a neighbour, but guests have exclusive use of the cottage, the garden and their own parking area.
We, the owners, live in the adjoining property so are on hand easily as and when guests might need us. We are happy to answer questions and give recommendations and advice on the area, and on eating, shopping and getting around. We can send you a Welcome booklet, giving lots of information on the cottage and the surrounding area, so that you can plan before you arrive. We have a key safe at the property, so you can let yourself in at your convenience, but we are around if you want to meet and chat.
The cottage is child friendly and we have various children's items we can make available to make your stay easier – a high chair, a travel cot, an electric steriliser, boxes of children's toys, children's DVDs.
Having a car is highly recommended to take full advantage of the surrounding area as there is limited public transport.
