About this property

Deep Bay Pacific Beachfront Home

Beachfront retreat facing historic Deep Bay BC on the protected east coast of Vancouver Island. A natural and laid back spot that offers water sports, hiking, golfing and more. Well finished home inside and out with nice amenities and great views.

Our Beach House is truly unique. It sits on a large waterfront lot overlooking Deep Bay where you can watch the sport and commercial boats come and go all day long. Or you can enjoy swimming (cool but refreshing in the summer), paddle boarding (provided), rowing (two man rowboat provided), oyster picking (right out front!), and beachcombing. The large property/lawn area also provides lots of room for badminton, croquet, bocce etc. The outdoor decks on both sides of the house offer great views and social area to enjoy the mild west coast climate. Meanwhile, the inside of the home is very tastefully decorated. It feels like the kind of place where you can just chill out. The entire upper floor is an open concept floorplan (plus the master bedroom) including a fun kitchen, dining table for 8 and a card/puzzle table off to one side. There is a comfortable living space with couch, love seat and leather chair for visiting. The entire main room is all glass to the water side with views you won't be able to take your eyes off! All the finishes are quality and comfortable so whether inside or out, you will feel at home.

Perfect Family Getaway
Our family had an unforgettable stay at the Deep Bay Pacific Beachfront Home. We were a group of six, including our two young children and their grandparents, and this property was perfect for all of us. The location is stunning, with breathtaking views of Deep Bay right from the deck and almost every room in the house. We loved watching the boats go by and taking in the serene atmosphere. The house itself is incredibly well-appointed and comfortable. The open concept living area was ideal for family gatherings, and the kitchen was fully equipped, making it easy to prepare meals together. The kids enjoyed the variety of outdoor activities available right on the property—paddle boarding, rowing, and even oyster picking! Meanwhile, the grandparents loved relaxing on the spacious deck and taking peaceful walks along the beach. The home is beautifully decorated, with a cozy yet modern feel that made us all feel right at home. The glass-front living room provided mesmerizing views that we couldn’t get enough of. There was plenty of space for everyone to spread out, and the master bedroom upstairs was a wonderful retreat with its own fantastic view. We also appreciated the large lawn area where we played badminton and croquet, creating some fun family memories. The property is in a perfect spot for exploring the area, but honestly, we found it hard to leave because it was such a great place to unwind and enjoy each other’s company.

Scenic and peaceful
We enjoyed our stay at Art’s house. We liked the privacy and peaceful surroundings plus you feel quite secluded there. We were happy to be away from the chaos of parksville but close enough to do everything. We hung out and watched boats, played games and hiked. My daughter loved the paddleboard and we saw seals in the bay. Well stocked house and generous hosts - thanks for a trouble free stay.

It was a privilege to stay here.
Art’s house was perfect for our family of 4. All the amenities were good, the beds were comfortable and Art’s generosity in sharing his water gear and kids beach toys made us feel right at home. This is a beautiful, quiet part of Vancouver Island but also within a short drive to shops and nearby towns. We knew very little about Vancouver Island when we made the booking and feel like we lucked out. It was an absolute privilege.

Loved it!
We had a fabulous time and loved our stay. Great south facing deck and easy access to our boat that we attached to the buoy out front. Lots of fish, clams, & prawns to feast on. Only a few steps away is a beautiful grassy/sandy point to soak in those extraordinary sunsets with your favourite cocktail in hand. Art is a terrific owner and was available to answer any questions we had. We hope to return again!

Perfect location to play on the beach and in the water
We really enjoyed our stay. Art was wonderful to deal with. Very responsive. The house is great. It has everything that you might need. I would highly recommend this house for families with kids of almost any age. For younger kids their is very little traffic and lots of beach activities. For older kids there is easy access to boating or paddle boarding.

FANTASTIC family vacation spot!
We loved our stay at this home in Deep Bay!! Coming from San Francisco, we booked it with zero knowledge of Vancouver Island and felt like we really lucked out. The house was very well appointed with all the necessities (and then some) for a wonderful and relaxing family stay. Our kids, 3 and 7, loved the easy beach access with lots to explore, and we felt good letting the older kiddo (who is water safe) have some freedom since there were no waves and lots of curiosities on the beach. The tide and boats coming in an out, the animals including a flock of bald eagles (!!), cranes, seals and other wildlife left us loving the views and sleepy but interesting rhythm of Deep Bay. The sandy beach at the spit point was a wonderful place to take some chairs and crack a beer in the afternoon and let the kids swim in clear cool waters and play in the sand. Initially upon booking we were concerned we would be too far from things to do, but Deep Bay was a wonderful jumping off point for many mid-island activities including the Horne Lake Caves, local seafood shops, Qualicum Beach, and Coombs all a short drive away. The owner made some great recommendations! The local market in Bowser is more than adequate for groceries, meat, baked goods, etc. The neighborhood is quiet, well kept and friendly and the Ship & Shore restaurant at the nearby Marina was delicious. The house itself had a great layout with plenty of space for the kids to sleep in downstairs, a bucket of toys and coloring books, every kitchen tool you might need, and just an overall happy and relaxed family vibe. All in all, it was a huge treat to stay here and we hope to return some day. Thank you Art and Debbie for sharing your happy place with us!

Family time!
Our family loved being together at this well laid out home located at ocean edge. The home is equipped with everything right down to the toybox! Listen to eagles and steller sealions passing your front deck! Very roomy home that fit our family of eight very well! Loved the bottles with the messages and the cleanliness of the home!

Art and Debbie moved to the west coast from the cold Canadian Prairies in 1982 to enjoy all that the warmer climate and diverse culture the west coast had to offer. We raised our kids in nearby Victoria (in the home we still live in) and over the years did quite a bit of boating and camping around Vancouver Island. We had friends at Deep Bay and always wanted to have a place there. When the right one came up in 2008 we jumped on it. What a great decision!!

Why they chose this property

The Deep Bay Beach House has it all. After years of visiting friends in the area we finally got our own getaway on the beautiful Deep Bay Spit. We are right on the beach with safe swimming and easy boat mooring right out our door. There is fishing, prawning and all kinds of water sports waiting to choose from every day. The local hiking and exploring is second to none. Easy to get to and so very relaxing and enjoyable once you get there!

What makes this property unique

The views from our water side deck are great. We look across at the marina and all the boat traffic which is constantly moving. Further across the water is the majestic Beaufort Range of mountains. Private but not secluded. Quiet but not boring. On top of all this, our place is unique. It's design is very cool and the cabin feel to the place is undeniable. But inside the finishes are elegant yet welcoming. Just a nice place to chill out and be as busy as you want!
