About this property

Poet's Corner ~ Private Retreat Surrounded by Forest, Dog Friendly

Poet’s Corner is a tasteful hideaway, offering privacy, comfort and style. The lush, peaceful surroundings and warm, inviting interior spaces work to release worldly concerns and leave the mind inspired. Any season is a great time to soak in the amazing hot tub under the redwoods. In the summer, enjoy a BBQ on the back deck. In winter, curl up in front of the cozy fireplace.

Poet’s Corner is easy to access, but feels far away from it all. Parking in the large driveway is convenient and it is just a couple of steps from the driveway to the front door.

Poet’s Corner has an inviting open living area. The kitchen, with gas range, dishwasher, microwave and fridge, is well-equipped with pots, pans, dishes, silverware and all the items needed to cook up a meal. The large square kitchen counter serves as the dining area and four stools comfortably sit around it. The living area has two comfortable couches, a wood-burning fireplace and a TV with Cable. Large windows frame the forest and sliding doors lead out to the large back deck.

A full bathroom, with a tub/shower, is located just off the living area. At the far end of the living room, stairs lead up to the sleeping spaces and second bathroom. The washer and dryer are in the closet under the stairs.
The bedrooms at Poet’s Corner are furnished with comfortable queen beds. Both have cable TV, ceiling fans and doors that directly access the upstairs bathroom. The larger bedroom has a small balcony.

The outdoors at Poet’s Corner have something to offer all year round. The main back has an outdoor dining table and propane BBQ. Stairs from the back deck lead down to a second deck and hot tub area. Cushioned outdoor seating furnishes the second deck during the dryer months. The hot tub is kept hot and ready to go all year round.

Close to the coast
We chose this property because it was very close to the coast. We did a lot of hiking and sightseeing. The Jacuzzi was a plus!

Lovely getaway!
We loved our stay at Poet’s Corner. The home was cozy, clean and well equipped with everything we needed for a long weekend. The patio and hot tub were well maintained and we enjoyed the peacefulness of being surrounded by trees. The location was perfect, we visited the coast, Johnston beach, Armstrong redwood preserve, downtown Guerneville and a nearby winery. Definitely would return - thank you!

Peaceful
We had a wonderful and relaxing time at Poets Corner. The home was cozy and very well stocked with everything you would need. The location was great -- close to Guernesville -- ocean only 20 minutes away. Would definitely come back. Thanks!!

Nice retreat away from the City
The house was well maintained and had a very nicely stocked kitchen. The deck was nice, though it is in the shade much of the day and you can hear the road noise (though you get used to this fairly quickly). The beds were both comfortable and access to Netflix was an added bonus. The hot tub was a huge highlight of the trip and it was lovely to sit out and watch the birds and enjoy the redwoods. Proximity to town was also a huge benefit - it only took 5 minutes to get to Safeway and downtown Guerneville. Overall a lovely experience.

Worried about the mildew
The house is well stocked. We did find some issues. I sat on the living room couch not even 5 minutes and left feeling itchy. We avoided that couch thereafter. All the towels intended for the second bathroom smelled like mildew. I ended up using the towels from the primary bathroom. The hall closet located outside second bedroom reeked of mold. That is a health hazard. We did enjoy the hot tub and the surrounding landscape. That was the highlight. We ended up using only the microwave, but it was never our intention to cook.

Thanksgiving getaway
We had a great relaxing stay. House had almost everything we needed for the holiday cooking! More towels would have been helpful with the hot tub. Other than that perfect!

Do not Rent in disrepair!
I'm not one for lengthy reviews so short and sweet, The microwave was taped shut, the whole unit, microwave, light, and vent were broken. The pendent light above the only eating and food prep area DIDN'T work. Leaving no light in the kitchen making it completely unusable. Unable to cook in the kitchen, unplugged lamps from the living room to get light in the kitchen The smoke alarms went off every time we cooked due to broken ventilation. Called the management company to get them fixed. No reply ! spent the whole 4 days opening windows, moving lamps, and cooking in the dark. The hot tub got 1 * and the location got 1* . Poor service and broken and wore home that I would not recommend to anyone. The owner had food in the fridge and had it marked Owners.

Beautiful location, hot tub was fantastic
The home was unexpectedly in the most beautiful of locations. Everything was as advertised. Clean and comfortable, although the matresses were a little worn.

Pretty nice place
We enjoyed our stay and happy to have a dog friendly location. The outdoor area was not as accommodating as we would have liked, for our dog. There was a deck, the most rest of the yard was set of stairs down to the hot tub, and all the stairs were made of rocks. No grass. We would have also liked the stairs inside the house to be carpeted, because it was easy to slip on them. The kitchen was really nice and well equipped and we did love the deck, which we spent a good deal of time hanging out there. Cute & convenient and close to town. There was a power outage in the whole town right when we got there, so that was annoying, but not the fault of the owners.

Adequate
House was fine but the kitchen left much to be desired. Cookware was a mismatched collection with no lids. Only place to eat is the small center island with stools that were much too high. The downstairs was really too small for four adults to sit comfortably. There were only two couches on which to sit and the area on which you sat was so deep that it wasn't always comfortable to sit so far back. Downstairs was much smaller than I anticipated. The living area, eating center isle and kitchen/cooking area was too close together.

House was fine, communication and service was not
We were unfortunate enough to plan our vacation during the Sonoma County forest fires. While the house was well-equipped and comfortable, we were very disappointed in the lack of communication from the property manager once the fires broke out. We had no cell service and no internet or cable TV which means we had no way of finding out where the fires were and if we were in danger unless we went to the office. For a couple of midwesterners unfamiliar with CA forest fires, we would have appreciated it if they would have come to the house (2 miles from the office) and let us know what information they had instead of us having to go to the office every time we wanted to know the status of the fires in the area. We chose to stay at the house but it was not the trip we envisioned. I realize the fires, lack of cell service and internet/cable was out of their control but their ability to communicate and provide customer service was in their control and in this they failed.

Host profile image
We are Russian River Vacation Homes, a part of D&G Equity Management, Inc., a family owned and locally owned/operated property management company.

Our Story:
In 1980, D&G founders and owners Michael and Patty saw a need in the area for habitable, affordable housing. At that time, many of the little cabins along the Russian River, originally built as summer cabins, were unsuitable for year-round occupancy. D&G assisted property owners with fixing up and renting their cabins. As the largest property management company in western Sonoma County, D&G Equity Management continues to be a staple in the Russian River community.

Russian River Vacation Homes is an off-shoot of D&G. One fine day in 1985, Michael's client, Bob, asked "Hey Mike, can you rent my cabin out just for the week or weekend instead of by the month?" Michael said "Sure!" and Russian River Vacation Homes was born. As renting vacation rentals became more popular, Russian River Vacation Homes grew into a full-time business with its own office. Today, Russian River Vacation Homes professionally manages over 60 high-quality vacation rentals.

We strive to make each and every stay the best one ever. If you have any questions or concerns about reserving or staying with us, please don't hesitate to contact us! We are here to help.

Why they chose this property

What makes this property unique

Poet's Corner is close to everything, and away from it all! Less than 5 minutes from downtown Guerneville, and downtown Monte Rio, this is a perfect forest retreat.
