Great house

We loved the house and location. The house is at the end of a dead end street and was surrounded by the woods. Very clean and well maintained and had everything we needed.

A great getaway!

We really enjoyed this cabin and found that we had everything that we needed! We came to Big South Fork to hike and wanted a cozy place to get away from everything, and this cabin filled that bill. The cabin is nicely fitted, with comfortable beds, sheets, towels and all of the kitchen items that you need. We cooked all of our meals and had what we needed - appreciated their spices and tupperware containers. The shower is fantastic, and we really enjoyed sitting in the hot tub and seeing the gorgeous stars! We didn't realize it was a certified "dark sky" site until the day we were arriving, but we loved the night sky! We also enjoyed morning walks in the woods around the cabin, walking on the road and seeing the horses, and several of the hikes in the park - Twin Arches, Slave Falls and Angel Falls. The land is beautiful and none of the hikes were crowded. Check in and check out were easy. I would recommend driving to the cabin during daylight on your arrival day if you can - the winding roads in the dark are a little unnerving when you don't know where you are going. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet getaway and some time outdooors!

Our Fall Get Away

We absolutely love this property and have been coming back for 5 years now. Perfect size, dog friendly, great beds, great TVs, great firepit, great location. Kitchen has more cookware and spices than any other place we have every stayed. Could use a potato peeler and a new set of cookie sheets, but otherwise, supplies are great. Because house sits at the end of a cul de sac, there is a lot of private outdoor area and our dogs just love it. Firewood is stacked high and protected to keep it dry. Owners are responsive and helpful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Exactly as advertised

This cabin really lived up to all our expectations and then some! It was so easy to find and its proximity to Big South Fork and Pickett State Park made it super convenient. The cabin was super clean and cozy, was in great condition, and had all amenities listed. We were especially impressed with how well appointed the kitchen was with equipment, utensils, and supplies. We would highly recommend this cabin for your next trip!

Excellent location - great home

Very nice home - comforter & well appointed. Very fast WiFi (which is good cause cell service in the area is very sparse). Located convenient to parks, hiking trails & astronomy viewing field. Plan to book again!

Vending at a local Truck Show

We didn't get to use the property to its full potential as we were in town for an event and really utilized it for sleep and a shower. But it is a beautiful place and we will definitely stay again if we are back for this event. If you are a horse lover or hiking enthusiast, this is your place!

Lovely Peaceful Get-a-way

This was the perfect cabin for our short get-a-way. We picked it because it checked all our boxes; close to Big South Fork, dog friendly and hot tub. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the property and well-appointed kitchen. We also loved playing board games on the large wrap-around porch. The host was exceptionally communicative and we appreciate them sharing their wonderful cabin with us.

Perfect in Every Way!

Our Deer Haven Lodge stay was a blessing - and one we'll never forget! Following the directions we'd received, we easily found our way to the the cabin at the end of a road in a beautiful “horse community”. We immediately felt at home in the serene and secluded cabin nestled in the woods. It was wonderfully maintained, tastefully decorated, meticulously clean and organized – and the bed was so cozy and comfortable! We cooked all our meals at the cabin, and enjoyed them on the beautiful deck - never getting tired of watching and listening to the many wonderful birds! Sitting at the fire pit under the amazing dark sky, was the perfect ending to each day. We’d come to hike at Pickett State Park, but a recent severe storm closed most of the Park’s trails. The cabin’s amazing location, however, gave us easy access and beautiful drives to Pogue Creek Canyon and Colditz Cove State Natural Areas, where we enjoyed great hikes! Most of all, we can’t thank enough, our incredible host, Leanne. She provided above-and-beyond guest service from our first inquiry and throughout our stay. Our only problem… we just did not have enough time here! We can’t wait to return to Deer Haven Lodge and recommend it without hesitation.

Wooded cabin retreat

Really cute and clean cabin in a heavily wooded area was perfect for our trip to Jamestown. Had most everything you could need. Only two small complaints, says in description there is WiFi but no password or mention of it in the literature provided at cabin so we had very little, to no cell svc. Also, said toilet paper provided. There was 1/4 roll and 1/2 roll between 2 bathrooms, with 5 women that didn’t go far so be sure to bring some or plan to get a local Walmart in town. Otherwise it was a wonderful place to stay and would definitely stay again!

Very nice. The only thing I could see wrong was it could use a better hot water supply. We were there to ride horses and enjoyed our stay very much.

Ten days with horses

This property was nearly perfect for us. Great location. Cabin exactly as described. Hot tub was great after riding so many miles every day. Felt like you were coming home at the end of the day and could genuinely relax. Kitchen was fully stocked with whatever you needed. My little dog enjoyed the freedom of being able to stay loose on the shaded decks all day when I was gone by me bringing a small section of portable fence with me to block across the staircase.

Why they chose this property

We absolutely love this cabin and the area. It's so beautiful and serene and the perfect getaway for a couple, family, or group of friends. It's beyond nice to have your horses right there where you can see them, be able to tack up and just ride off directly from the cabin to various trails within the park.
