Quaint school house with modern amenities
The old school house has been very well updated. I was a little surprised that there was a road right in front of the property as from the description I was expecting to be a little more isolated. The road is a benefit for getting around, and a negative if you were expecting more seclusion. Angus and Willa were great hosts and helped with any needs we had. Loved exploring the area around Ford and would definitely return! Thanks for a great stay.

Very good indeed, one of the best, in fact THE best, places we've stayed in.
The School House was clean, very well appointed, had top quality appliances and all the extra accoutrements needed to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

Beautifully restored and very comfortable schoolhouse
Ederline Schoolhouse is a beautifully restored property with first rate features and exceptionally comfortable beds and lounge furniture. The owners were lovely, made us and our dog feel very welcome which made our stay special. The ability to be able to settle down in a comfy sofa or chair in front of a roaring log fire on a chilly wet evening after a day exploring was very welcome. The kitchen is enormous and was as well equipped as ours at home. The bathroom had a great shower and bath and was also beautifully fitted out. My only tiny gripe - bearing in mind the very wet weather during our stay - was the inability to dry our clothes after washing or a wet day out - although we could have taken them up to the main house. A drier or a couple of heated towel rails would be a great addition. Our dog loved the large garden.

Fantastic stay!
We were the second guests in the recently renovated School House. It was very cosy and comfortable and the house is very well equipped. One can see that everything has been created and decorated very thoughtfully and with focus on details. The furniture and the interior design are of high quality and obviously made to last. We enjoyed nice evenings in the living room with the log burner and coffee outside in the sunlit garden (there is a bench in front of the house). The house is situated on a very quiet street with almost no traffic at all. It is a very good base to discover the beautiful region of Argyll and to take walks in the local surroundings. Willa and Angus were very kind and friendly hosts. We were warmly welcomed with fresh flowers on the table and invited to the estate. They live just round the corner and were within reach for any questions or recommendations. Everything was handled correctly and promptly. We felt the School House was like a home from home for one week and we absolutely recommend this accomodation. We hope we'll have the chance to come back one day - there is still a lot more things to do and see in Argyll!

I was born in Lochgilphead and have spent a large part of my childhood in Argyll. I am married to Angus and have three children. We took over the estate from my father in 2003. It is a fantastic way of life which we love to share with our guests and help them to see the best of the area. There is too much to do and see in a week but once you have been you will want to return!

Why they chose this property

I took over the estate from my father ten years ago and count myself so lucky to have the opportunity to care for the cottages and farming business in the most stunning part of the world. A perfect retreat to get away from the busy life that most of us lead. Ederline is a tonic to be consumed regardless of season.

What makes this property unique

This house is part of a hill farm estate set in glorious West Highland scenery, tucked away in the Argyll hills a short distance from the coast. The Self Catering house is owned and run by Angus, Willa and family. For guests staying on the estate we have kayaks, bikes, rowing boats to hire, with fishing, walking and much, much more, you would be hard pressed to fit everything into a week in this stunning part of Argyll.
