Beautifully Restored house of pleasure on Main St above Blodgett Canyon Wine Bar
"The Scandia House Loft" was a labor of Love, it took two years to restore this former house of Pleasure. In the process of restoration we discovered old coins, whore house tokens, old newspapers ,wooden nickels and other artifacts. It left us with this beautiful place in downtown Hamilton, Montana over The Blodgett Canyon Cellars Wine Bar and Tasting Room... we added a lovely 2nd floor deck with access to the roof top lounge with a fantastic view of the Bitter-root and Sapphire Mountains. You'll agree it is an enchanting place to stay...We look forward to meeting you all...

The stay was outstanding! great communication with the owner during our travel from the Seattle area. Extremely comfortable and very roomy with a full kitchen, living room, bar and 2 bedrooms. Kitchen was appointed with all the tools, living room with TV, and well furnished. Awesome stay!
Love working with Craig and Patty. Wonderful people. Apartment is AMAZING. Lots of room, and every need taken care of. They are so nice to have food and drink ready in fridge for us late arrivals. There is no better place to stay in Hamilton. Looking forward to next visit.
I loved this place! It was very clean and ready to live in. Food in the fridge and the historical aspect of this place was really cool. Craig was very helpful and I would stay here again.
A fantastic experience with a wonderful host. Convenient location, fun history and ambiance. Thoughtfully and generously stocked with supplies and amenities. The two tier decks are a fabulous addition. One of the more unique VRBOs we've stayed in. Give your travels a great story to share!
We loved staying here! The outdoor area was our favorite part as well as the locations. Beds and pillows weren't our favorite but it wouldn't stop us from coming back.
Beautifully furnished in the heart of town. Perfect!
My family and I had lived in Hamilton for 45 years. We just recently sold our last home there. But I love to visit. And this apartment was perfect! Right in the hearty of town, walking distance to everything. Surprisingly quiet, especially in the bedrooms at night. Beautifully furnished and accommodating. We can’t wait to stay here again!!!
This apartment is an amazing little gem in so many ways. Centrally located and an amazing place to stay. The apartment is in a building originally constructed in 1897, but the apartment has been wonderfully renovated while still keeping the original charm. Fantastic place to relax and unwind.
Just when you think it’s another run of the mill rental space, you’re wrong. This one won’t be like any other place you could imagine. It will exceed your expectations. You will freak out about the value you get for this space. You will be so glad you booked. Promise. Just trust me.
This is the third year in a row I have stayed here. The place is so unique and Craig couldn't be easier to deal with. They always have extras in the fridge and make the place feel like home.
We stayed over Thanksgiving and had front row seats to the magical tree lighting ceremony on the Friday after. Walked to the shops on Main for some Christmas shopping. Everything was lovely! Apartment was clean and decorated beautifully! will Stay again for sure!
This is about our 5th stay in the apartment. We consider it our home away from home in Hamilton since we have family in town. The location is great , the apartment is comfortable and roomy, 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms and the kitchen is fully equipped plus Craig always leaves some food in the fridge which was very helpful since we got in late and had to drive in the dark and snow from Missoula.
We’ll be back as soon as it warms up.
Craig was so gracious and accommodating. We had everything we needed and more. The space was perfect for 2 couples and we even had our local friends over to enjoy the space and outdoor deck. Whenever we are in Hamilton and don't stay with friends, we will definitely stay at the Scandia lofts again. The Hamilton locals that visited will also be recommending it for their out of town guests. Thanks so much.
We were located above Blodgett Canyon Cellars. This property is not for someone who cannot climb steep steps but ideal for adults without children. The owner was fabulous providing us with a stocked frig and freezer from bacon, eggs, english muffins, coffee, juice, ice cream with little touches such as flowers and candy. We even had a spiritual event with the resident spirit who spoke to us on our anniversary morning...
Absolutely loved our stay! Not only is the apartment in the perfect location between the mountains but Craig was so attentive and wonderful! The apt was fully stocked with everything we would need, breakfast, coffee, sweets and treats! We had a wonderful time and will be back!
Everything was perfect and we enjoyed our 2 nights in Hamilton. We did a flight downstairs one afternoon and mostly drove around looking at the scenery. This was a 2 night break between Yellowstone and Glacier and a perfect place to take a break. So many extras and such a gracious host!
We traveled from WA to explore the history of the bitterroot. We had a fabulous adventure in the valley with stunning vistas and beautiful open sky each day. Had a unexpected encounter while touring the grounds of the Daly mansion. Mama bear and cub. Sent us quickly scrambling back to our car. The cub was exploring while mama watched from the treetop. We eventually made it up the driveway to the house. But we had a spotter on duty. Wine and appetizers at Blodgetts wine bar was great fun and took time to see the back country falls between Anaconda and Hamilton.
Our host Craig was fabulous. Provided all the items for a wonderful breakfast and the loft is just as described. Ambience takes you back to the turn of the century and even a few surprises in the restored brothel. The adventure began and ended with great memories of Hamilton. Thank you.
An amazing rental. We couldn't have had a better location or improved the unit in anyway!
Craig the property manager/owner made this the best vacation rental experience we have ever had!
We will definitely be staying here again.
Thank you!
Craig was awesome....met us there and showed us around. The apt. is exactly as described....the patio is great. All utensils we needed to make dinner was available. Craig had enough food left for us for a breakfast meal the next morning. Safeway is right across the street. Apartment right on Main street....steps are steep, in case you have trouble climbing a lot of steps. We already booked for next year.
Great place to stay from the accommodations, the location, the rooftop access, and the history of the building!! All made for a great stay!! The biggest plus was getting to meet the owner and hear more about the area!! Highly Recommend!!
Non-contact checkins have become the norm and we appreciate them...however Craig's warm welcome complete with humorous anecdotes about the history of this apartment he personally renovated was a highlight of our stay! The apartment is spacious, comfortable, extremely well stocked, and every few minutes one sees another interesting/humorous piece of decor. Located in downtown Hamilton on the 50 mile Bitterroot Bike trail, walkable to many fine eating and drinking establishments and easy access to Bitterroot Mountain's hiking and back packing. A place that is hard to leave and requires return visits!
Craig was a great host. The apartment and location are both perfect. We had a great time and will stay again. Thanks Craig.

We are an active couple that met in High School and are living the Dream in the lovely Bitter-root Mountains where there are plenty of things to do, Fly fishing, Hiking, Skiing ...Cafe Dining...Art Galleries, boutique shops... I digress, We like to save and restore old buildings together and we add them back to the communities original character.
Why they chose this property
Fantastic, Fresh, Cozy in the center of town above The Blodgett Canyon Cellars Wine close to everything, Cafes, Art Galleries, view of the Sapphires and the Bitter root mountains from the rooftop, you can see up and down the valley.
What makes this property unique
My wife and I bought this Property two years ago. It was the 2nd or 3rd brick building on Main Street. The city father "Marcus Daly The Copper King" built the Bank 1st and the Scandia Whore House 2nd or 3rd. In 1897, 120 years ago we didn't know it at the time but, we bought the downtown religious shrine (Just Kidding). As we took it apart we found old coin, whorehouse tokens and the gabled skylights. It looks like a crystal palace now compared to the dark hole it was. Then we put in a roof top lounge, 2nd floor deck, restored the murals downstairs and opened The Blodgett Canyon Callers Wine Bar. Upstairs we put, in tin ceilings 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. The cozy bar has an 1875 railroad map and club chairs it has a great vibe through out. We put up a 5 piece wainscot to represent the way we felt it would have looked back in the day, I used gold and black oriental rugs all a round. The street side great room has a beautiful gas fireplace and dining area. Well equipped Kitchen with a Black walnut island for your prep work
