We had a great time at this property, there were 9 of us ranging from 3 to 70 years old. The pool was an added bonus, and overall it was a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.
We had a great stay at the property to celebrate a family birthday. Very remote location but beautiful views and good day trips in the local area. Kids loved the pool!
Sophia is a great host, lovely touches such as cake, flowers and wine on arrival made the stay extra special. Lovely place for a relaxing family gathering - the scheduled pool times were brilliant and as we were the only guests staying in the last half of the week we could use the pool all day, which the kids loved!
Beautiful property in a wonderful location. We had a very comfortable stay with everything we needed to relax. We really enjoyed using the swimming pool too!
Thank you Sophia for being so friendly and helpful.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay from beginning to end. Hosts made us feel at home and the property was ideal for a family holiday. Would definitely recommend.
Such tranquility ! A beautiful place! A beautiful barn and facilities, hosts Sophia and Ray were so welcoming and friendly ! We Highly recommend a stay here and we didn’t want to come home ! Here’s to the next time !
This property was in a beautiful setting, rural, quiet and peaceful. Our hostess was more than helpful, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The heated indoor swimming pool was super and we all enjoyed it very much. Thank you for such a super break.
Great location. Great property. Great pool. Usual break with family. They loved the pool and the accomadation was spacious and warm. Sophia and Roy were very welcoming and very helpful. Felt like friends. Thank you
We had a great time. Friendly hosts. Clean, warm and well equipted property. Great welcome gifts. The swimming pool was excellent. Beach 30mins away - Westward Ho! beach - lots of sand and space.

Excellent!!!
The host was super nice. The place was super clean. The accommodation was super comfortable, airy and open. The kitchen was super facilitated with all needs. The pool was super warm and available throughout. The grounds and gardens were super clean. The area was super tranquil.
I have no qualms about this place whatsoever.
I will definitely come again given the opportunity and highly recommend this place.
Most enjoyable holiday! Swimming pool was used every day by our grandchildren and having a rota printed out by Sophia made it easy to use. Walked to the New Inn (appx 40 mins) for lunch one day. Very accommodating as we hadn’t booked. Great day in The Big Sheep adventure park and 2 lovely days on the beach. The accommodation was spacious and met our needs as a family. Great to be able to sit all together to eat. We arranged a Tesco delivery for our first evening which worked well for our weeks supply. Sophia was very welcoming and flowers on the table were lovely!
This is a beautiful property with a very friendly and helpful host. The house is well equipped, very clean and wifi is good. The pool is warm and perfect for family playing time. The fishing lake was stocked way above expectations with carp up to 20lbs, plus big tench, rudd and perch. All were lovely fish in prime condition.
The whole property is set in some of the most peaceful and picturesque countryside you're ever likely to see, and if an idyllic getaway is your aim, it would be hard to beat this location.
It is at least a 20min drive from the nearest shops or takeaways and a 40min+ drive away from beaches, zoos etc. mostly because it's deep inside narrow Devon country lanes. But that's just something to be aware of for planning days out.
All in all this is a wonderful family getaway location.
A family party of nine, ranging from 65 to 3 years.
The cottage is lovely, plenty of space for everyone a large kitchen table for all nine of us to sit round to eat. The kitchen could do with some new oven tins, the ones there were not nice at all, it would also benefit from some larger casserole type dishes.
A patio area in the garden would have been much better, all the chairs sank into the grass, making it difficult to get up. The back door step is lethal when wet, beware!
The swimming pool was lovely we really enjoyed it! A large doormat inside the cottage would have been helpful, nine people arriving wet from the pool, all trying to get in at once, made for a rather slippery tiled floor.
The fishing was a big hit with our fishermen, everyone caught, we had several Perch, Tench and Carp, the biggest being 17lb, the children loved it.
We had primed our grandchildren that there would be some animals to meet, there was a woodland walk and that they could play in the fields behind the cottage, however on arrival, we were told that there were no longer any animals, only a couple of old chickens. We attempted the woodland walk, but it was very overgrown with nettles and fallen trees, and gave it up as a bad job. Also the fields behind the cottage had not been cut, and was hard to walk through, let alone play, so this was all very disappointing, I think your website could do with a little updating!
We did have a lovely break, Sophia and Roy are lovely
This was probably one of the best holidays in the uk we have ever had, the cottage was so beautiful, and the pool and fishing lake a special added bonus as we had some keen fishermen.
Thank you Sophia and Roy for allowing us to use your lovely property.
We will be seeing you again in the near future.
Lovely cottage - swimming pool and fishing a bonus
We decided to have a whole family holiday this year. Myself, my husband, both daughters with their other halves and our 3 year old grandson. We chose this property mainly for the swimming pool thinking it would give the 3 year old something to do on a bad weather day. The cottage was lovely, private back garden with stunning view and plenty of room for us all to have meals together and sit together in the evenings. The kitchen was very well equipped with lots of crockery and utensils as well as a decent sized fridge/freezer. The swimming pool was fabulous, big enough and with a rota in place with the other cottage so that we had it all to ourselves at our allocated time. My only suggestion would be to perhaps have some way of communicating with the other cottage so that perhaps you could change your times if you wanted to as often it was not being used. The fishing lake was also a big bonus, we love fishing and again had the lake to ourselves. It is a short walk from the cottage but Sophia was kind enough to let us drive down with our equipment. All in all we had a lovely stay. My only negative comment would be the size of the downstairs bed, it is listed as King size but we have a kingsized bed at home and it was much smaller, more like a double. As expected this was a remote location so the Wifi was not the best and if you forgot something at the shops it was a drive away down narrow country lanes but neither of those things bothered us and the peace and property more than made up for it!
The house was fantastic, really comfortable, clean and spacious. I don’t think the photos do it justice! The host had left us a cake and a bottle of wine plus fresh flowers on the table which was a lovely touch. The views were incredible, but no amenities within walking distance (not a problem, we just stopped off in closest town for supplies beforehand).
Perfect place to get away from it all and relax for a few days.
We are 8 OAPs who have just been treated to 3 nights of real joy. Meadow Cottage is absolutely superb. Fantastic accommodation with plenty of room with lovely decor and sleeping arrangements second to none. Every utensil you would ever need with lots of games, tv and the heated pool right next door was just the icing on the cake. The Woodland walk and the lake was so nice and peaceful and the overall location was beautiful. The country lanes are a little testing especially if you meet an on coming vehicle but we found the area generally quiet so only met a couple. Sophia showed me round on arrival and I would love to thank her on behalf of all of us for letting us stay in your wonderful cottage. If anyone wants a truly wonderful break then book Meadow Cottage, you will not be disappointed.
We had 3 nights at this property with our 3 daughters and their partners and the tv didn’t go on once!! Beautiful accommodation to cook and eat together, although not walking distance the village pub was lovely and welcoming for a Sunday Roast, the swimming pool a bonus as was the fishing lake and boundary walk of the farm and wonderful, helpful hosts ☺️
We had a terrific stay at Meadow Cottage and would throughly recommend it to anybody. The cottage is really well equipped and comfortable, the views of the surrounding countryside are lovely, and the peace and quiet of the farm make it an ideal holiday location. Shops are within easy reach in Great Torrington, and the splendid beach at Westward Ho! is an easy drive away. Sophia and Roy May are very friendly and helpful owners whenever they are needed, and the indoor heated pool is an immense asset in both hot and cool weather.
