Fabulous Ffestiniog

Lovely cottage, in a truely wonderful location. This home is rather arty and unique. Tastefully restored with love by the owner. It is small but plenty big enough for one mum and a lanky son. We thought it could have been a little cleaner; crumbs under cushions, sticky balcony, but as my son said "not bad enough to complain about". The kitchen has everything you need - I took my cook pot so didn't use it much. There is a shop in the village for basics and a Co-op 10 minutes away in Blanaeu Ffestiniog. The shower area is small but had good pressure and was always hot. We were perfectly happy with it. The garden is shared and I only used it for morning tea but found it charming. Why would you want to sit in it anyway with Snowdonia on your doorstep? The setting is absolutely amazing with RHAEADR CYNFAL over the road, a 15 minute walk away; the waterfall, and viaduct are beautiful, and we only ever met one other family there! We took the steam train from Porth Madoc, did the Precipice Walk at Dolgellau, and visited the beach at Morfa Nefyn - my son went up Snowden. There are many more tourist attractions if you want them and stunning scenery everywhere. Someone in a review complained about the road at the front, I have stayed in many places ruined by traffic but this was not one of them. I could not hear it when I was in bed. We could hear singing at the community centre over the road which was lovely. There is a school tucked away so I imagine traffic will increase in term time. Me and my son had a perfect break here and came back well rested, I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

10/10 We loved every minute of our holiday. The cottage is beautiful and is equipped with everything you need. We took our two dogs for a week. The location is great as there are loads of dog friendly pubs and of course walks! Thanks to the owners for dealing with our requests instantly. We loved your cottage.

Lovely little cottage in a great location near Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Lovely little cottage in a great location near Blaenau Ffestiniog. Clearly renovated with love, had everything we needed. Only small downsides were related to the size of the cottage. Its small, and the bathroom is particularly small. There is also no door to the main (double) bedroom - you need to be ok with no privacy!

Lovely stay at this cottage! Beds we’re so comfy which we really appreciated after a long day out!

Lovely stay at this cottage! Beds we’re so comfy which we really appreciated after a long day out! The cottage had everything we needed. Clean! Lovely decor which made all the difference to our stay. Some cottages whilst maybe clean are tired. The milk in the fridge was a godsend when we first got there! Thank you. The bathroom is small but it’s all you need and our old dogs struggled with the steps to the shared garden though there is only two or three. Some road noise at peak times but it didn’t effect us. We really enjoyed our holiday and were sad to go home.

Great quirky, newly renovated place.

Great quirky, newly renovated place. In a quiet area and well situated for travel to places of interest. So lovely to see the pride and passion that was put into this cottage. Local community run pub was full of warm, friendly people and we had a great breakfast there before we set off home. Would recommend cottage and the pub!

I really enjoyed my stay at Tŷ ar y tro.

I really enjoyed my stay at Tŷ ar y tro. It’s a lovely little cottage, beautifully decorated and in a good location. Very close to Blaenau-Ffestiniog, and only about 18 miles to Porthmadog. Close to Cynfal waterfall, which is worth the walk. Can’t wait for a return visit.

This is a charming little terrace, very tastefully restored.

This is a charming little terrace, very tastefully restored. Much of the decor is a tribute to the area's rich slate heritage. Excellent use of space and a very well equipped kitchen in terms of appliances and utensils. Beautiful surroundings with a vista of mountains almost every which way you turned, with ample walks from the doorstep. Good sized Coop in BlaenaeFestiniog and most everything you might need in Porthmadog. Weather was kind for our visit so enjoyed much happy walking and exploring the stunning area.
