Good location and good value

This property exceeded what I was expecting. We found it to be spacious and well equipped and a good location for exploring the Bridport area. Although there is no parking at the property it was easy to find parking very close by at a cost of £2 per day. The centre of Bridport with its pubs and restaurants is literally minutes away and we used it as a base to walk to the coast at West Bay, Eype and further afield. The description makes it clear that there is no outside space so this wasn’t a problem for us. We found it good value and would definitely consider staying again.

The cottage is situated fairly close to the centre of Bridport, within walking distance of the shops. It is situated along an alley beside a butchers shop, which was really handy to pop to when buying meat. They also do delicious scotch eggs and sausage rolls. The downside is there is no parking for the cottage, although we were able to pull up onto the street outside to unload and load up. Parking is in a car park near by which you pay for, or in nearby streets. The alley is quite narrow, which means that the lounge/kitchen/dinner is quite dark. We found we needed the lights on all the time in that room. Having said that, the cottage was very cosy and the kitchen was quite well equipped. In our opinion, the microwave oven could do with being replaced. Paint is flaking off on the inside and round the edge, and the exposed metal is rusting. It also seems to be impregnated with a strong curry smell! I washed it out, but it made no difference. A big plus point for me was the bath - always very welcome after a long walk. The dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer were also very welcome. Be aware that due to covid regs, loads of things have been removed from the cottage, including brochures and maps for the local area, the instructions for the heating, and the hairdryer, which I discovered when I realised I had forgotten mine! I worked the heating out by trial and error, but it might be helpful to laminate the instructions so they can be cleaned, and leave them pinned to the notice board. Situated down alleyway off main street of Bridport.

Situated down alleyway off main street of Bridport. No car parking but car park 100 yards away. Modern decor, all amenities - dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine and dryer. Gas cooker, have to beware that when the grill on the knobs get dangerously hot. TV in lounge & bedroom. Free WiFi. Would benefit from a king size bed rather than a small double. Overall very pleasant. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Cosy winter retreat

The house was perfect for a short break in winter as it was near to the high street and within easy reach of good restaurants and pubs, so no driving miles in the dark. The house has no views from the windows and no outside space at all, but this did not matter in December. The property is comfortable and well-equipped and we liked the open plan layout downstairs.

Though you could not park close to the Cottage, it wasn’t a long walk from the nearest car park which was quite reasonably priced for 24 hour stays (less than £3). The nearest Pub, the White Lion, was only 50 yards away and has both good food and a wide variety of beverages and all served by very friendly and helpful staff. Bridport itself is conveniently situated between Lyme Regis and Weymouth to explore the Jurassic Coast and all the lovely Beach locations in-between. There is also the opportunity to have a Brewery Tour of the local Bridport Brewery called Palmers where you receive a free Palmers glass at the end of the Tour and get to sample some of their products.

Although we loved Appletree Cottage, however would like to have be prepared about being in a narrow alley on the side of the butchers and not having any garden or a back door. It was spotless and very comfortable and suited us, being the time of the year. We usually go away with friends and it would have been a disaster as she does not like being in small enclosed places.

Beautiful cottage in excellent location for shops, pubs, buses, car parks and walking.

Beautiful cottage in excellent location for shops, pubs, buses, car parks and walking. Extremely well equipped kitchen for all your self catering needs . We wanted for nothing. Only possible downside is that there is no outside space, but hey, we went in February, so it was no problem for us. Also I think this issue is reflected in the price. I would definitely return. Thank you.
