The cottage is in a secluded position yet next to two other properties and has its own private, enclosed rear garden. The cottage is bright, fresh and welcoming with a wonderful living room with vaulted ceiling and beams where you can relax in front of the wood burner after an energetic day out.

St Cyrus’ beach is a renowned conservation area and visitors will love the wide sandy spaces, rock pools at one end and the opportunity to spot whales, dolphins, seals and otters which frequent the clear waters. Ornithologists are also well catered for, with the nearby Montrose Basin home to thousands of pink footed geese in winter as well as many other wading birds and seasonal visitors throughout the year.

Montrose itself has plenty of facilities including two golf courses, tennis and bowls, as well as being the venue for Mofest, an annual music festival which attracts big names as well as lesser known acts. Dundee is within easy reach for the culturally minded and a visit to the V&A Museum is a must, as well as the RRS Discovery or a trip to the theatre. Beach ½ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Great week spent at St Cyrus. House was very spacious and comfortable, the projector was a winner on windy, wet nights! Great location for beach and very private. Enclosed garden a winner for dogs too. Owners had thought of everything- very well equipped and very comfortable

Fantastic cottage & location.
Fantastic cottage & location. Dogs loved being on the beach everyday. Cottage well equipped with everything you need. Montrose only a couple of miles for shopping. We were very lucky with the weather with rain only one day. Tammy who is the cottages caretaker is very helpful.

Straton cottage was a great place for visiting the local beaches, which are great. Saw plenty of local wild life while walking around. The cottage itself was in a beautiful setting and you could see the sea out of the kitchen window.

We loved our stay at Straton cottage is was beautiful and cosy , a lot of thought had went into making the cottage a home from home , it’s locatio is superb a 5 minute walk to the most beautiful beach although reach by a very steep hill but easily accessed by car to the carpark at the beach , local attraction of Dunnottar Castle is well worth a visit , Tammy the house keeper lives next door to the cottage and is extremely helpful and very friendly, we would highly recommend this cottage if you had children or dogs as there is a well kept enclosed garden , we will definitely be staying here again

My husband and I (and our dog ) have just returned from a week at Straton Cottage and I am already looking to book again for sometime in December. We absolutely loved it , there is everything you could possibly want in the cottage it’s a real home from home. We were visiting family in Angus so it was a perfect base for us. Every morning , whatever the weather, we walked for hours on the beach with our dog, the bird life is fabulous, we even saw a seal one morning. It’s the first time in a long time that I have not wanted to come home, it is just so cosy but practical at the same time. We had a lot of rain and ,as anyone with a dog knows , it is awful trying to get them dry etc. No problem at Straton Cottage as there is a stone tiled hall as you walk in with a basket of dog towels etc. IT IS JUST FABULOUS. What else can I say.

We enjoyed a very comfortable week in this spacious home.
We enjoyed a very comfortable week in this spacious home. It is perfectly situated for beach visits, which is why we chose the area. The house is very well-equipped, and the kitchen is especially good for foodie holidays (as is the local area, which in summer has a large array of fresh produce available from seafood at Stonehaven, to berry-picking in Montrose, and various direct-to-buyer farms stores and similar enterprises in the wider area). We had two dogs with us, and the property is ideal for this as the garden is enclosed and there is a safe hallway/boot-room sleeping area for the dogs. The house-keeper lives next door and does a great job of looking after the place.

Quiet rural location.
Quiet rural location. Close to a nature reserve and lovely beach. Sparsely equipped in the kitchen when 6 adults sharing - could do with smaller wine glasses that fit in dishwasher.

Beautiful cottage with fantastic scenery.
Beautiful cottage with fantastic scenery. Well equipped. Stayed with 2 other couples who all loved it as much as us. There is a village pub and shop but they are a 15 minute walk. If I ever go back to the area would definitely look to stay at this cottage again.

We had a lovely 4 night break in Straton Cottage.
We had a lovely 4 night break in Straton Cottage. Pleasantly surprised as the accommodation exceeded expectations. A very spacious cottage. Our teenagers thoroughly enjoyed the snug and projector provided. It seemed as though everything had been thought of from towels for the dog, to beach towels, to everything we needed in the kitchen. This included a vast array of herbs.

Lovely spacious bright cottage in a lovely setting.
Lovely spacious bright cottage in a lovely setting. It is just outside Montrose, in a peaceful location and is a great base to visit the surrounding area. The St Cyrus nature reserve and beach are close by, a very steep walk down a winding single track road but worth the walk. The cottage was like a home from home and has a log burner which was very nice in the evenings. We would return to the cottage and recommend it to friends.
