December stay
Lovely little place, small and cozy with a perfect location. The owner was extremely responsive and assisted quickly when we had an issue. Perfect place for our stay.

Not right for us.
Not ideal for us. The Jack and Gill bathroom did not give enough privacy. The sliding doors had gaps, which could be seen through. Not ideal when using a bathroom.

We started this family business in 2017 with the intention of giving our guests a memorable experience by combining some of the best experiences we have enjoyed from our own travels. We love welcoming guests to Harrogate and sharing our love of North Yorkshire. Being born here, I have lived most of my life in Yorkshire. My husband and I met in London and he continues to commute on a weekly basis. We have three adult children, one of whom is married, and a granddaughter. We live nearby so know the area well. We are passionate regarding our guests and ensuring the best possible experience. We personally meet and greet everyone and are on call 24/7, so you can enjoy your stay with complete ease.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this cottage. It was very run down and in need of some major works from a new roof to rewiring and replumbing! However, we saw its potential and knew from the outset that with a complete refurbishment and the addition of 21st century and retro together with antiques of the period we could give our guests a great place to stay whether on business or for a short break or holiday.
The area in which Artists' Place is located is known as High Harrogate and is the original Harrogate.
We particularly liked the interior layout of the cottage, its proportions, the high ceilings and sense of space. We could see that with some careful refurbishment and repairs to the structure we could preserve the cottage for future generations. We hope you like what we have done. We have replaced the roof, completely rewired and replumbed. We replaced the ugly 1960s windows with ones more in keeping with the original design and structure of the building. This meant reinstalling lintels and getting windows manufactured to the latest building regulations whilst retaining the 19th century design.

It's central location in a quiet street with an easy 8 minutes walk to the town centre clinched it for us!

We have had guests staying for protracted periods for work or during house moves. Anna Madeley who plays the housekeeper in All Creature Great and Small has stayed whilst filming in the locale.

What makes this property unique

What sets us apart? As the owners we are on call 24/7. We operate a personal check-in service where someone who knows the property and the area personally meets you. All this gives you peace of mind. We are a family business and we work with local people who share our enthusiasm and love of hospitality, from the cleaners, to our marketing, to those who meet and greet. We all know each other and are not just colleagues! The details matter!
We leave fresh milk in the fridge(organic if we can get it), fresh ground coffee, Yorkshire tea bags, coffee pods, biscuits on a tray all ready for your arrival.
Our linens and towels are all professionally laundered to the highest standards and are constantly renewed and upgraded.
Our beds are manufactured by a local company for us, to ensure you have a great night's sleep.

Harrogate is a 19th Century Spa Town famous for its water and Turkish Baths. Originally purpose built for tourists! So everything is designed with you in mind, from the location of the station and shops to the amenities of the gardens.
Harrogate is served by fast direct trains from London Kings Cross.
Harrogate hosts: Flower Shows, The Great Yorkshire Show (July) Film Festivals, Fashion shows, Bridal exhibitions, Toy and Gift Fairs, Christmas Markets, International Festivals. Trade Fairs, Antique Fairs, Professional Gatherings, Sports events, Arts and Crafts Fairs and so much more. There are 2 theatres and 2 cinemas, RHS Gardens, Grade 2 listed Valley Gardens and more than 250 food outlets - something for everyone!
Harrogate is known as The Gateway to the Dales, and our Cottages are ideally located to explore the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, the coast, we are only 1.5 hours from the Lake District by car. There are many NT properties in the vicinity and the famous RHS gardens at Harlow Carr can be reached by walking through the Valley Gardens and Pine Woods from the town centre. Leeds is within easy reach by bus, train or car.
