Great house at a great location!

This was a really great house, we had such a great time on the lake, and the location was perfect for our event in Ithaca! Jacci & Virgil were extremely helpful, and we had a fantastic weekend. We will definitely try to stay here again!!

Great views, super location, excellent amenities

We really enjoyed our two-week stay at the lake on heck-of-a-deck. The house comes equipped with everything you may possibly need (kayaks, grill, full kitchen, oodles of chairs), and the owners are thoughtful and meticulous about every detail. Jacci had lots of great recommendations for the area and was very communicative. Would recommend for a relaxing family and friends trip!

Nice Week

Lovely week on the finger lakes.Lots to do even with mediocre weather.House was great,kids really enjoyed kayaks and floats provided,and fires ring with s'mores at nite were big hit. House was very clean and host was always available. would definitely consider renting again.

Lovely house and deck!

I had a great few days with some friends and our dogs. You can’t beat lakefront sunsets with that deck, which even had a special gate so that we could sit outside with the dogs and not worry about them wandering. The house was well stocked (kitchen and bathroom essentials) and very comfortable.

We loved this property. Truly. Charming interior with all of the comforts of home. The house is very well equipped. The deck and view are unbelievable! The house has kayaks and a fantastic fire pit. We loved every minute of our stay!

a wonderful week-long family vacation

Of course, the deck is the undisputed star of this wonderful property! We could not have spent our first post-Covid three generation family vacation in a better place. The house is thoughtfully appointed and stocked. There is everything you will need and more...Jacci and Virgil are the most wonderful hosts who truly care about well-being of their guests and respond to every request. Amazing deck!

Jacci and Virgil are the best property managers we’ve ever enjoyed in our extensive VRBO experience. The location on the lake could not have been more beautiful and convenient to the idyllic town of Aurora. The deck and amenities were over the top amazing to use. In short, a great place to stay!

A great week at a great place!

From the booking process, thru our departure, we had an incredible stay. Jacqui and Virgil were wonderful. The home was so welcoming and felt so homey! We truly appreciated all the effort made with food items in the fridge, coffee to brew, snacks to share, concern over our boat during a storm, checking in, but not bothering, a warm atmosphere and a beautiful setting. We highly recommend this lovely home on the lake!

Beautiful outside living space a few flaws inside

We had a lovely week with family on the lake. I cannot say enough about the deck with the most amazing view. Jacci was wonderful to work with. She was extremely prompt in communication and dealing with issues. We unfortunately experienced a major problem during our stay. There is no place to store food, so we placed it in boxes on the floor of the kitchen. Our first morning there, we found that mice had gotten into our food. After contacting Jacci, they quickly set traps. We caught two mice in the house. Jacci was very apologetic and compensated us accordingly. We were extremely disgusted by the mice, but decided to stay and make the best of the time. They left us a lovely welcome array of food. We really appreciate that, but the s’more fixings were sealed in an airtight container, but we noticed a mouse had previously bitten through the chocolate and the marshmallows. Again, the outside living space is lovely, and we really appreciated Jacci’s promptness in responding. Unfortunately, we will not be returning and would not recommend this home.

Wonderful Vacation!

I can not say enough about the quality of our stay at “Heck of a Deck”. The house was clean, well stocked and Jacci and Virgil was amazing! Communication was excellent. Jacci was very informative and helpful. The house is not near the waterfalls and gorges of Ithaca, but we knew that going in. Overall, we highly recommend this property and the owners!

Excellent lake front home

Jacci and Virgil are excellent hosts. They went above and beyond, including helping to jump start our car battery, to make the stay enjoyable. The home is cozy, but the excellent covered deck greatly expands the sitting areas. During the hot week, the deck was perfect. This was the ideal rental for our party of 6.

Too Little Time!

With only 3 brief days to spend in this lovely spot, it was just too little time! The host was fabulous, accommodating and, helpful, and the spot was just perfect for our family get together. Because the deck is up high, the view of the lake is stupendous. The house was beautifully decorated, and the kitchen was stocked with thoughtful extras. The "master" bedroom had its own en-suite bath, and was just wonderful. And the town of Aurora itself was just delightful. Highly reccomend it!

Loved everything!

I had a wonderful vacation at Heck of a Deck with my three adult children. The view is unbeatable. The house is well stocked with everything you could possibly need and a few really nice extras. Our dogs loved the lake and the nearby park for beautiful walks. Jacci is in easy contact and very knowledgeable about the area. Lovely week!

One week stay in June

Our family of 5 stayed here for a week. The part of the house we loved the most is the deck. We enjoyed our dinners on the deck every single night with beautiful sunsets and nice breeze. If you like a tranquil and quiet vacation, this is the place for you. It is not very close to state parks with waterfalls. The closest one in Ithaca took 40 minutes. But Long Point State Park is within 5 minutes walking distance, where we frequently took our evening stroll after dinner. Jacci was very responsive. We had hot water problem and Virgil fixed it the next day.

Everything is great with our stay

Jacci is very thorough during the entire rental process. We have initially booked 2 nights in August, but realized we want to add another day later on. It took Jacci one day to add it on. She was there to greet us at check in. She had everything prepared for us, even some groceries in the fridge. So thoughtful. The deck is wonderful as described. We also enjoyed the morning run in the state park nearby. The commute to Cornell was smooth everyday. We had great family time during our stay. We highly recommend this place.

Great House in good location

We rented the house for 1 week in September 2018 and is was great. Very well equipped and a marvelous location overlooking the lake. The deck is large and works well as it really is just an extension of the house making the BBQ's easy. The owner has made the house comfortable and cosy and she welcomed us with open arms; informing us about the area. We had a wonderful relaxing week and would recommend this highly.

Incredible deck and clean, updated amenities

My family's Seneca Lake rental was cancelled last minute. We were lucky enough to find Heck of a Deck on Cayuga lake last minute. Jacci was friendly, accomodating, and very responsive. The house was clean and spacious. We spent most of our time hanging out on the deck, which had more than enough chairs, a grill, and table. When the grill ran out of propane, Jacci was over within 15 minutes to change out the tank - so appreciated. While there was no issue with the house or amenities, we were a bit dissapointed with the lack of vineyards on the East side of Cayuga lake. We spent many years on Seneca Lake going to vineyards everyday. On the East side of Cayuga, the vineyards are limited so if you're looking for a very active vineyard vacation, you should know you have to drive around the lake, which takes about 50 minutes. Though, the East side of Cayuga has the adorable town of Aurora with a few restaurant options. If you're looking for a peaceful lake vacation with incredible lake views and a beautiful park close by, Heck of a Deck is a great option.

Beautiful Lake House!

This quintessential lake house is beautifully decorated with an amazing deck and lakeside fire pit. The sunset/sunrise views from the deck are simply breathtaking. We spent much of our time either fishing on the dock, tubing in the lake or just sitting by the fire. Inside the home you will find three ample bedrooms with comfortable beds, plenty of linens and a well appointed kitchen with everything you need to prepare and enjoy family meals. Jacci, the owner, is a wonderful hostess and extremely generous. She met us on arrival, gave us a tour of the house and took time to tell us about the local restaurants, shops and activities in the area. Our family of five had a lovely time and we look forward to staying there again!

Gorgeous lake house and awesome hospitality!

My husband and three older children stayed at this well-appointed and cozy lakehouse for 4 days while attending our son's graduate school graduation and couldn't have been more happy with the friendly meet-n-greet by the owners, the well designed interior decor, and of course that great deck overlooking the lake! We loved the location as well as we could easily get to wineries, Ithaca, boat rentals, and great dining. Before, during, and even after our stay the owners went out of their way to assist us with any questions, dining and recreation recommendations, etc. to ensure that we had a wonderful stay. Having properties that we rent out ourselves I have high expectations, and heck-of-a-deck blew it out of the park! Thank you.

Now, THIS is One HECK of a Deck

My wife and I stayed for three nights at this property. Obviously, the lake was beautiful to wake up to and sit by throughout the day, but what set it apart was the versatility of such a cozy place. Between the top deck, bottom deck, bonfire area, and the dock, there were plenty of places to relax and unwind, either in the shade or the sun. The same could be said about inside the house; if memory serves, there were three distinct bedrooms and a spacious living area. No matter what your pleasure is, it would be hard to be bored at Heck of a Deck.
