About this property
Beautiful Restored Victorian Cottage - Murrayfield.
This traditional Victorian cottage has been completely renovated to an incredibly high standard using Farrow & Ball paints and vintage inspired flooring from Fired Earth and traditional cast iron fireplaces and radiators.
Traditionally Victorian, the cottage is compact but beautifully appointed with new and hand painted vintage furniture. The little cast iron fireplace in the sitting room is in perfect working order but has been renovated to gas for ease of use.
To make your stay feel special we always ensure there’s luxurious bed linens, candles, lots of fluffy white towels and fine Scottish hand-soap and hand lotion.
The Sitting Room
The cottage is made up of a cosy but beautifully appointed sitting room with dining for 4 people. The fireplace in this room is in perfect working order. In this room you will find a high end speaker for you to connect your iPod or iPhone and a flat screen TV.
The Kitchen
The kitchen is newly refurbished and is in keeping with the traditional style of the cottage. A retro cream fridge freezer, Smeg kettle and toaster, Emma Bridgewater accessories, Belfast sink and wooden tops complete the look. There's everything you need including a microwave, washing machine/dryer, dishwasher, baking supplies, plenty of utensils, fresh tea towels, crockery and cutlery.
To save you packing the kitchen sink we include tea, coffee and sugar, cooking oils, salt and pepper, washing up liquid, dish cloths, dish washer tabs and hypo-allergenic washing machine pods and fabric softener.
*Please note, the Fairy liquid bottle is vintage, please refill from under the sink and do not throw it out - thanks.
A lovely bottle of wine and nibbles with our thanks, will be waiting on your arrival.
The Bathroom
The cottage has one good sized bathroom located on the ground floor with shower over the free standing bath. It’s newly renovated, bright and is in keeping with the style of the cottage. Expect fluffy soft towels and luscious Scottish toiletries.
The Sunroom
The sunroom is a small space for one or two to get some peace and quiet from the main house. There is an oversized armchair and footstool and a selection of books for you to enjoy during your stay. This is our favourite room in the house.
The Master Bedroom
On the ground floor, this bedroom is painted in Farrow & Ball ‘Pointing’ so is lovely and fresh looking. A Laura Ashley king sized bed and bedding can be found in this room with duck-egg comforter for extra comfort. The remaining vintage furniture, including a full sized rocking chair, have been lovingly hand painted in Annie Sloane Duck Egg which beautifully completes the room.
Bedroom Two
The second and third bedrooms are up a very steep staircase*. The Blue Room is painted in Laura Ashley Pale Seaspray and includes a lovely vintage inspired white double bedstead with luxury bedding. The furniture is all up-cycled vintage Lloyd Loom with ‘Cabbages and Roses’ upholstery and soft furnishings.
Bedroom Three
The third bedroom is painted in Farrow & Ball Lamp-room Grey.
* Please note this feature Victorian staircase is very steep and is not suitable for young children or anyone with mobility problems.
