We really enjoyed our time in this wonderful cottage. Exactly what we were looking for - quiet and with a great view of the lake.
The Communication with Cathrine was perfect.
Everything you need for a holiday in a holiday home is there.
To sit at breakfast and dinner overlooking a beautiful scenic loch on which we had paddled on was just amazing. Beautifully clean comfortable beds and attentive hosts. Great place to stay and good position to explore the area
Peaceful, beautiful, luxurious cottage nestled on a quiet Scottish loch
A tranquil quiet get away in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. The cottage exceeded our expectations and the views from the rooms are just breathtaking!
AMAZING!
This was the perfect cottage in beautiful surroundings. It was our base for the week whilst we explored Loch Ness and other nearby towns and places. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated and homely. The boating on loch Knockie was also an added bonus and enjoyed by all. Catherine was very helpful and always responded to any queries quickly. Hope one day to return and enjoy another peaceful stay here.
A very peaceful and beautiful location. The cottage is immaculate.
Try sections of the South Loch Ness way and the Findhorn circular walk if you like good walks. Plenty of others close by.
We’ve stayed one week in October 2024 at the cottage “New Brachkashie”… and yes… it was absolutely stunning and outstanding. We’ve been so many times to Scotland in the last 2 years, always staying in a house, but we can nothing compare with New Brachkashie. From the first moment on it was like coming home. Catherine furnished the cottage very warm and stylish. The silence, the view over Loch Knockie, the garden and nature around the cottage and so much more makes this place very special and magic. We’ll be back for sure.
Everything about this place is stunning. The house is beautiful inside and out, the cleanest place I’ve ever stayed. There’s a fire built for your arrival, a loch with your own boats waiting for you and the best view your ever gonna see from a bedroom window anywhere in the UK. Best holiday we’ve ever had. Loved every second
This is a very comfortable, well equipped, stylish cottage in a secluded and peaceful location. The setting is glorious, the views spectacular and the cottage is always warm and snug thanks to a very efficient wood burner. A perfect place to enjoy a break in the highlands. On site boating and trout fishing are an added bonus. Vic Chaffey
If you’re looking for a secluded (very) and peaceful getaway this is your place. Lovely cottage on a beautiful highland lake—the views are exquisite. It was a little too cool and windy for us to be able to enjoy the deck but being able to have a fire in the evenings made up for it. It’s a little bit of a drive to town but you’ll find pretty much anything you need there—just be on the lookout for the abundant wildlife.
We loved everything about New Brackashie cottage. The linens were crisp, the floors in the bathrooms heated, the rain shower downstairs, the comfort of the furniture. The cottage was decorated very tastefully and the view was spectacular. Quiet and serene and so so beautiful. We wished we had longer to stay as we did a tour of Loch Ness out of Inverness and a tour of the Jacobite Steam Train out of Fort William. Wished we had at least one more day to do nothing but enjoy the Loch. Definitely recommend staying here if you like peace and quiet and beauty.
This was a very special and relaxing place to spend a week on our travels! The home is beautifully designed and decorated yet comfortable and welcoming. The amenities are very nice and the beds and linens are especially comfortable and beautiful. We really enjoyed using the canoe and row boat to explore the lake! The kitchen is very well appointed and the coffee and steamed milk were great! Communication with the owner was easy and relaxed. We had dinner at the nearby Whitebridge Hotel twice and enjoyed that very much. We would love to return to this very special place and have recommended it to friends who are planning a trip to Scotland.
Lovingly and tastefully decorated with spacious rooms and outstanding views throughout. Property is remote and extremely peaceful however nearest pub is only 5 mins drive away and many places such as Fort Augustus are only a short and scenic drive from the property. Added bonus is the availability of a boat and canoe to use on the loch. Would definitely recommend.
This was a perfect place to stay to see Inverness, Fort Augustus, and Fort William! We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful drive each morning on our way to see the sites. Beautiful place to stay!
Das Cottage hat Alles für einen ruhigen idyllischen Urlaub. Lage ist perfekt, das Nachbarhaus hat uns nicht gestört. Es gibt kein Fernsehen und kaum Handyempfang, das ist in einer solchen Lage so.
We enjoyed a wonderful week in this beautiful home. The setting is perfect to rest and restore and also to explore the beautiful highlands of Scotland. The cottage provided everything we needed, to a very high standard. We enjoyed many walks and visited a few of the recommendations made to us. We cannot recommend New Brachkashie cottage highly enough ..and still miss that perfect view each morning…
We loved our week at New Brachkashie - what a beautiful and peaceful location. A great base for exploring the region - we did some hiking, cycling and kayaking. Paddling on Loch Knockie when it was calm and quiet was just perfect. Would definitely recommend this lovely cottage for a great getaway.

About the host
Hosted by Catherine Goldsmith
We are a family of four living in East Lothian, Scotland. George is a property agent with his own business based in Edinburgh. Catherine is an Interior Designer and runs her own business too! We have two daughters, Ella and Rosie. The Highlands are an essential escape for us all.
Why they chose this property
Although George was brought up in Dorset, his mother's family used to own the Knockie Estate and many holidays were spent at Brachkashie, enjoying the loch, the little islands, and brown trout fishing from the boat. Picnics, walking and fresh Highland air was the essence to our Scottish holidays.
What makes this property unique
Unique location overlooking Loch Knockie with an abundance or wildlife to enjoy. Full use of a large rowing boat and canoe for Loch Knockie. Beautifully furnished cottage which has been renovated to a high standard.
