The cabin is just a few inches from the road with minimal space to park or explore the property grounds, as it's literally built on the edge of the mountain. Be prepared to learn how to get there, because the GPS won't work very well on the area. Communication with the host was efficient and allowed us to accommodate our trip needs with no hassle; the bottle of wine was a nice detail. My advice is to skip your next trip to Little Switzerland, for now, because no businesses or attractions are open due to damage from the last hurricane. It's a shame because the cabin has an amazing view, but the street conditions and the lack of activities in Little Switzerland is discouraging. Nevertheless, we drove to other towns and enjoyed our vacation.
Our stay at The Perch Cabin was absolutely exceptional! The property was impeccably clean, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The host, was incredibly responsive to our inquiries and provided fantastic local recommendations, making our experience even more enjoyable. We especially loved the cozy fireplace and stunning 75 mile mountain view. The 103F hot tub was therapeutic.
Renter very kind. Showed me around the cabin. Lots of privacy. Close commute to hospital. Only downside was that there was no internet access during my stay because att working on lines. We as able to use phone as hotspot for access.
Rick was an absolute pleasure. The rental was just what we were looking for and the view... words cannot express how absolutely stunning it was!
My husband and i wanted a quiet and relaxing vacation away from the norm and that was exactly what we got, plus so much more. We will most definitely return and we highly recommend anyone traveling to Little Switzerland, to give Rick a call.
Thank you for everything, Rick. We appreciate it more than you will ever know.

The view is really amazing. Spent a couple nights here and as much time as possible soaking up the scenery of the mountains and the quiet. Such a peaceful place.
My husband and I really enjoyed our week long stay at the Perch Cabin. The cabin was clean and had all the things we needed to make our stay comfortable. The best part of our week was enjoying our coffee on the deck in the mornings and dinner every evening because the view is the best around and truly amazing. The hot tub was very clean and obviously well maintained not to mention it was a great way to recuperate after our days hiking. Thank you to Rick for great communication and recommendations for local excursions.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! It was a quick 15ish min walk to the bookstore/restaurant/general store. Close to Crabtree falls, gem mining and other restaurants. The hot tub was amazing and views were incredible. We even saw the brown mountain lights from the hot tub! The best was almost too comfortable, as we slept in too late every day. I thought the house would feel too small but it didn’t at all. I would highly recommend this rental!
The cabin, it's management and views from the patio are all excellent and we will stay there again. One of the prettiest views anywehere in the world. We also drove on the Diamondback Loop and had wonderful trips in our sports car up and down the mountains. Being near Little Switerland a plus. Thank you Vic!
We’ve stayed at this same cabin twice now, and we will continue to return! The cabin is in a perfect location with absolutely stunning views! If you are looking for a low key stay to truly relax and unwind without the hustle and bustle of more commercialized areas, this is your place! The property owner is wonderful to work with and very quick to respond. You won’t regret it if you book this quaint cabin!!
We had the most amazing time on our Christmas holiday at the cabin. The views were second to none, the hot tub was relaxing and the cabin was lovely. The host was extremely responsive and made sure we were welcomed and had everything we needed for our stay. I highly recommend the cabin to anyone looking for a romantic getaway.
If there is one reason you should book this, the view alone should be it.
The property is clean and in good shape. Keep in mind it's the mountains and it's off the beaten path. We saw some cobwebs but nothing that concerned us.
The hot tub was amazing. We spent many hours in it enjoying the view, the stars, and even being surrounded by the clouds. The deck has two Adirondack rocking chairs, perfect for enjoying the view and morning coffee.
The kitchen has everything you need to cook and prepare meals. The shower has great pressure and we never ran out of hot water. Plenty of towels are provided and there is a Washer/Dryer combo and they provide detergent if needed.
The host's communication was great and he was very responsive to our needs.
A few notes for future guests:
The key is obtained directly from the owner. This was great for us since he guided us to the property and it was already dark when we arrived. He showed us the interior, explained how to run the hot tub, and even mentioned some nearby attractions for us to see. Keep this in mind and contact them if you anticipate your arrival being very late.
The house isn't "new" but it is nice. I've seen some reviews where people complain about little things being not quite perfect. We went for the view and solitude, not for a Waldorf Astoria experience. If you're seeking white glove turn-down service, I suggest you look elsewhere.
Overall, this place is amazing and we will be back!
Absolutely perfect location for a couple’s getaway. The house was cozy with spectacular views. It was close to hiking trails and great restaurants. Highly recommend
As bed and breakfast owners, we were in need of time to ourselves to rest and recover. We are also more likely to see whats not as good than most people. Little did we ever dream we would find the perfect place at 3500 feet above sea level.
The view is by far the one thing you cannot stop looking at. Even on July 4th, we got fireworks from multiple locations below.
We had been to the area years ago with our kids. As empty nesters, we enjoyef some of the old fun like gem mining. But discovered new places like No 3 Grill at the Grassy Creek Country Club.
This was the perfect place to rest and enjoy time alone!
The cabin was in excellent condition; clean linens, towels and rooms.
The view from the balcony is spectacular.
Wife and I were on R&R; once we checked in we stayed put; very serene atmosphere.
The host was great; made everything easy; provided dining and areas of interest in the vicinity.
Looking forward to next stay.
The vacation rental lacked general cleanliness. Cob webs were on the ceiling, fans and lights. The mantle had an incredible amount of dust / debris on it. The lights next to the beds were dusty and covered in hair. The lights over the sink were dusty and had hair stuck to them. Overall the home lacked in the cleanliness area.
