Another delightful stay at Curlew Cottage

We had another wonderfully restful and relaxing stay at Curlew cottage this year. As before the cottage was spotlessly clean and the garden so peaceful. We love the personal touch that has gone into the decor to create an obviously well loved holiday home. The cottage has everything we needed for a fantastic holiday and we hope to be back next year.

Cosy cottage with beautiful views

Curlew Cottage is the perfect place to relax, unwind and get away from it all. A beautifully presented property with fabulous views from the garden and main bedroom. Had all the amenities we needed. 10 minute walk downhill to the Ferry Boat Inn on the river for delicious pizzas, the Anchorstone Cafe for a seafood lunch and more fantastic views. Steep walk back up to the cottage but worth the effort! Easy to get ferries to and from Dartmouth so can leave the car behind. We had an excellent stay, really recharged the batteries. Highly recommend Curlew Cottage.

Lovely week at Curlew Cottage

We had a really lovely stay at Curlew Cottage and loved being in Dittisham which is a thriving little village. We were 2 adults and 2 teens (plus a dog) and the cottage was cosy but big enough for the 4 of us. The view from the house and garden was amazing and we made the most of it by spending our time in the conservatory and garden. Curlew cottage was really comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed for the week. My only minor negative is that a welcome hamper would have been a nice touch :-)

Excellent location with views

Lovely views from the rear of the property with a lovely garden. More comfortable chairs in the conservatory that could recline would be beneficial. The kitchen appliances were not very good quality, the hob took ages to heat anything up as did the cooker.

Lovely comfortable cottage

Great cottage in a lovely little village. He most stunning view from the garden and the top floor windows. Easy pretty walks down to the River Dart. Ease of access to the Ferry for water trips to the other side or Dartmouth. Doggie loved it too. The road in and out of Dittisham is single track in parts so just have to be cautious when driving.

Lovely cottage in a stunningly beautiful area

Cottage certainly lived up to expectations. Helped by the sunny and warm weather during our stay, we loved our two weeks here. View from the garden is simply stunning, cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the beautiful River Dart, using the little and bigger ferries on the river to get to and from Greenway and Dartmouth. So much to see and do in this beautiful part of the country. We will be back!

curlew feedback

The cottage was comfortable and cleaned very well with the exception of the carpet in the front room which had an enormous, very off-putting stain. We moved a floor mat to cover the stain for the remainder of our stay but it was an unfortunate first impression and gave us a rather yucky feeling. Not good! The front room felt rather dreary and generally could use a little spruce-up, we spent no time in it. Bedrooms cheerful and very clean. Ditto bathroom. Didn't use the shower as it felt odd to shower in the bedroom! The conservatory was where we spent the most time, lovely garden (I did some geranium deadheading and hydrangea watering!) and those incredible views. Kitchen well appointed but could use a colander and a few pieces of Tupperware. Rubbish collection rather odd - when we went into the garden to remove the bin in order to put our week's rubbish out before departing we discovered that it was full of the previous renter's rubbish! So we put that out along with ours in a rubbish bag as soon as we heard the rubbish truck approaching but they would not take the bagged rubbish, only the binned .. so we put our rubbish in the bin and placed it back in the garden.

We love Curlew

Curlew is our current favourite - fantastic view, comfortable and well-equipped. A few suggestions: a dishwasher would be great / hot water for bath requires Immersion heater to be on permanent / fridge door is easy not to close properly, so contents are not cooled enough sometimes - and we needed to scrape ice from back. A hose pipe would be useful ( dog spray down in garden ).

5 star review!

Curlew Cottage was exactly how it had been described - there was nothing disappointing about it at all and I wanted for nothing more while I was there - except maybe for larger bath towels! It was perfectly equipped for 4 people, you wouldn't have wanted anyone over for supper as it really was catered just for 4. The quality of the sheets were so nice which really makes a difference and the pillows very comfortable. It was a great place to write - which is why I was there for nearly a month. Very peaceful and lovely walks. I would highly recommend. My 83 year old Mum came and stayed and I would say that the hills back-up from the river were too much for her and she is very fit.

Delightful cottage

A peaceful retreat with wonderful river view.Good to return to its quiet location at the end of a day spent visiting old haunts. A comfortable and well equipped cottage and the swifts circling at dusk were a special treat.

Another excellent holliday at Curlew Cottage

We had a really relaxing couple of weeks at Curlew Cottage. The location was really close to the centre of Dittisham but still very quiet and the view from the garden as spectacular as before. The cottage was really clean and well presented with everything that we needed for our holiday.

A lovely cottage, in a great spot with fantastic views of the river

This was our second time to Curlew cottage. It is well presented internally and has a lovely garden with the most amazing views of the river Dart. Upstairs has two good size bedrooms with luxurious White Co bedding, so beds are really comfortable. The stairs are very steep which is nice and quirky and makes you appreciate how old the property is, but May not be suitable for elderly or very young children. Downstairs the lounge is a bit dark, but on both stays we have never used the lounge as the property has a wonderful conservatory at the back - who wants to sit and watch TV when you can spend your evening watching the wide variety of birds fly past and enjoy what’s happening on the river below.

Cosy stay in a comfortable cottage.

Curlew Cottage makes for a good autumnal break, with its cosy living room, stacked with wood for the fire, and it’s airy conservatory with lovely views of the Dart. All very clean and well looked after. Nice kitchen, tastefully modernised. The main bedroom is a little on the small side, but the wonderful outlook on to the river makes up for that. A dishwasher, and heating in the conservatory would add to the appeal.

Autumn Break

Excellent venue.. with stunning views of the River Dart at the rear of the property. The Kitchen is well fitted, the bedrooms are of a good size and the veranda at the back of the property is an excellent size. The lounge is cosy and has an open fire ( perfect for an Autumn evening in...) The Veranda could do with some form of heating as we would have used it more The venue does have challenging steps and stairs if you are unstable on you legs .. having said that We would highly recommend this property.

A week in Dittisham

We had a great stay for the week beginning 21st August. The phenomenal views over the Dart from the back of the house make the stay memorable. The conservatory was ideal for feeding baby, distance working (wifi was satisfactory) and evening meals. The kitchen radiator and the bathroom towel rail provided the perfect heat to dry out baby clothes and wet raincoats. Wonderful hot water and kitchen layout were comfortable. Induction cooker takes time to get used to if not familiar with it. Some of us found the bath plug a bit confusing. Slight lack of cooking things and cups etc due to Covid 19 arrangements. Nice privacy in the back garden, we were in and out and around and it was a welcome space and of course the view. Sometimes we parked in Riverside Road and at times we were able to park near the house which was handy for packing up.

Great week at Curlew Cottage

We had a lovely week in Curlew Cottage. It’s a perfect location overlooking the river Dart ,we spent most evenings having dinner in the conservatory with stunning views and we also enjoyed having a drink in the nicely kept little garden too The cottage was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Some things had been taken away due to Covid but it didn’t matter. We would def return and stay there again, hopefully next year.

Bruno.

Perfect cottage holiday

The only issue was finding somewhere to park. Could not find fault with anything. So peaceful and relaxing with many interesting places to explore nearby.
