About this property

Family river retreat a short walk from the quay

Riverview is a superb family holiday home situated within tranquil Dittisham Court - just a short stroll to the village and riverside. Sleeping up to six guests in three bedrooms, Riverview also benefits from its own private, grassy garden and allocated parking. From the open-plan kitchen and living area, the French doors open onto a private balcony with sublime views of the river and distant Dartmoor - also seen from the master bedroom, too. We're sorry, but pets are not allowed at Riverview.

Accommodation:

The front door opens into the ground floor hall with space for boots and coats. Two bedrooms on this floor overlook the garden. The first has a king-size bed, while the second is a bunk room, both with wardrobe and a chest of drawers for storage. The family bathroom is also on the ground floor with a bath, overhead shower and WC. Guests will also find the washer-dryer in the family bathroom.

Upstairs, there is the open-plan living space with a well-equipped kitchen, dining, and lounge areas. The cream kitchen is complete with a fridge, freezer, dishwasher and microwave. The lounge area has two sofas, two armchairs, a wood burner, a TV and a DVD player. The dining table seats six and looks out over the garden and countryside towards the river via the patio doors out to a small balcony. There is additional seating on the balcony for enjoying a morning coffee with steps down to the garden.

Upstairs again takes you to the light and airy en-suite master bedroom in the eaves of the house, with a kingsize bed, blue-painted furniture, The en-suite has a bath with overhead shower. This floor also has an additional single bedroom.

There's central heating and a wood burner for comfort (logs can be purchased locally).

Outside:

At the rear of the property, there is a private grassy garden from which you have views over Dittisham Mill Creek and various aspects of the river Dart. Dittisham Court itself is set in four acres of grassy communal grounds including a small orchard containing plum and apple trees.

Parking:

There is a loading bay at the front of the house with two allocated car parking spaces a few metres away.

Nearby:
The village pub, The Red Lion Inn, is a 2-minute walk around the corner. The Red Lion also hosts the village shop and Post Office. A 10-minute walk will take you to The Quay where you will find the Ferry Boat Inn and The Anchorstone Café as well as ferries to the National Trust's Greenway house and gardens, and Dartmouth. Blackpool Sands is the closest beach - a 10-minute drive away.

Riverview

Riverview perfect for family holidays. Top floor bedroom and bathroom for grandparents, ground floor bedrooms and bathroom for the rest of the family, ideal! Super place for younger children with lots of outdoor space and fields to let off steam. Crabbing down at the Quay keeps children amused for hours while parents, etc enjoy a leisurely pint or glass of wine from the riverside pub. Plenty of places to visit, Dartmouth within easy reach both by road and water! Dittisham is a delightful village, peaceful and quiet.

River view, Dittisham

We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay again. Dittisham Court is brilliant as there are parking spaces which visitors to Dittisham will be aware are difficult to find.

Great location.

Riverview is a nice property in a great location with beautiful views of the River Dart with the added bonus of parking. For anyone who knows Dittisham this is a big plus. It's also very reasonably priced for the area. There were a few maintenance issues when we stayed though and the main bathroom could do with some attention which is a shame as we would definitely have stayed here again otherwise.

Lovely cottage in stunning village

Our 3rd visit to Riverview, and 12th to Dittisham. House has everything you need. Lovely views, and peace. Lots to do locally in Dartmouth and surrounding countryside. Great restaurants within walking distance - just know your tides. Can't recommend highly enough. Accommodation on 3 flours, so room to spread out.

Return visit to our favourite place

It was great to return to Dittisham - we love the village. It was great to spend time on the river again and to eat at the Ferryboat Inn. This was our first stay in Riverview - great views from upstairs and always a bonus to have private parking in the village. Our daughter loved having her own floor downstairs. Everything was well maintained and comfortable for our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed a very chilled week.

Riverview

Excellent accommodation in peaceful and beautiful Dittisham. Perfect for crabbing and a short drive to Blackpool Sands. A visit to Dartmouth/Salcombe and Agatha Christie's home (Greenway) just across the river by ferry, a must.

Riverview Cottage, Dittisham

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Riverview. The cottage had beautiful views of the River Dart from both the main living area and the top floor bedroom and was very well situated to make the most of the pretty village of Dittisham. The grounds surrounding the property were enjoyed by our one year old grandson and were easily accessible from the back garden. The property was very comfortable and well equipped and had been cleaned to a high standard. The owner had left a bottle of prosecco in the fridge alongside fresh milk and a box of chocolates, which we fully appreciated. We will definitely be going back.

Dittersham stay at Riverview

Beautiful cottage and well looked after by the owner. Lovely surprise to have a bunch of local flowers and a bottle of bubbly on arrival. Lovely views and a treat to sit and enjoy the a glass looking over the Dart river. Enjoyed every minute. I have used Dart Valley on three occasions previously and will do so again. Thank you all Ken Coates

River retreat

Riverview is in a very pleasant and quiet location. We particularly enjoyed the garden with the deck chairs and would have used the barbeque if the weather had been slightly better. The cottage is very well equipped - we appreciated the stairgate with a toddler- and it felt more like a home from home than a holiday let.

Peaceful

The photo on the Web page doesn't do this house justice, the veiw from the bedroom at the top of the house is fantastic upriver along the Dart really stunning, in the mid summer evenings sunsets were great. The accommodation is really well equipped and comfortable. A very peaceful location, if you have young children a short walk (possibly half a mile) is the Ham, this also has great views of the Dart. I would definitely return as we liked it so much.

Riverview stay

A beautiful setting in a peaceful village. This property has all you would need for a lovely holiday. The area is stunning and the pubs and cafe in the village were great. However, it sleeps seven and we stayed only as a two. The living room space was fine for us but a party of seven will not as been as comfortable even if children were in the party . Our bed was very comfortable, the linen was beautiful. Cleanliness wise it was OK but felt it needed a deeper clean ie corners in the bathrooms and sides of furniture were dusty. The lack of welcome pack was a slight downer when we arrived. We have stayed in numerous holiday homes and this is the first one ever where not even a welcome pint of milk was left. It's not about the goods, it's the feeling of greeting and welcome that we missed. Thanks Trudy Webster

Lovely cottage in scenic, peaceful location.

Enjoyed our stay in this spacious cottage with plenty of flexible sleeping space. 4 of us and a 1 year old. Large, bright and airy living area and the unexpected stair gate was a real bonus that we were not expecting but would have been difficult to manage without. It might be good to add something similar on the steps down from the balcony. It was nice to have a garden and the surrounding accessible land was lovely, especially the orchard. Kitchen had everything we needed and beds were very comfortable. Beautiful area to explore, very nice lunches at Sharpham Vineyard and The River Shack at Stoke Gabriel was a pleasant experience with great staff.

My favourite place to stay.

This was my fourth stay at Riverview. It is ideally situated for glorious walks and visiting attractions. Riverview itself is fully equipped with everything you could want making it an excellent cottage, and lovely to come back to after an energetic day walking the many beautiful paths. Lovely views down to the river and a pretty garden. Dittisham is an area of outstanding natural beauty, peaceful and friendly, a very stunning village with its undulating landscape. I am already planning my next stay at Riverview.

A Great Place to Get Away from it All

Riverview is a well located and appointed cottage, which sleeps 6 people comfortably with parking for 2 cars and somewhere on the road for a third if required. Dittisham is a a pretty little Village on the River Dart, with 2 pubs, one Post Office (co-located with one of the pubs) and an excellent cafe. There are lots of things to do in the area. We enjoyed canoeing on the River Dart, taking a motor boat from Dartmouth up river and a coastal and valley walk. Several National Trust places are also close at hand. Overall we had a very enjoyable break and would go back.

A great location

Riverview was in a perfect location to explore Dartmouth and surrounding areas. Dittisham is a lovely village, Our 4 year old loved the crabbing :-) Riverview was a great base, Plenty of space for all 6 of us, my only issue was the massive tree that was blocking the views :-) but was great sitting on the bench on top of the hill watching the sun set. Will definitely look to book again.

Fantastic 3 storey cottage,

Fantastic 3 storey cottage in the heart of the village. Local to the shop, chip van and park/river 5 minutes walk away. Everything you need on the middle level, beautiful view of the Dart, quiet & peaceful location for the 3 of us. Car parking space near by, local supermarket 10 minutes away.

A week in Dittisham for a our family of 6.

We really enjoyed the open plan layout of this property and the modern finish. Our only suggestion (not a negative but might persuade us to stay again) would be a double bed (4 ft would be fine) or two singles in the third bedroom rather than bunk beds. Apart from that though it had everything we needed and despite the weather we had a lovely relaxing time.
