Modern & contemporary apartment on the 5 Star resort of MELIÃ Tortuga

Located on the island of Sal, Cape Verde's most tourist orientated island, and only 5.5 hours away from Europe's major cities and in the same time zone, this vacation will provide you with the best that the Caribbean can offer but without the jet lag.

The apartment is on the modern & contemporary MELIÃ Tortuga Beach Resort & Spa. It therefore has access to all of the resorts facilities including 24 hour reception & concierge, elegant wine bar, 4 restaurants, state of the art spa, and well equipped gymnasium, 2 pools with swim up bar and 2 children's pools, set in spectacular landscaped grounds and only a few steps from the beautiful Ponta Preta beach, with its crystal clear waters and tropical beaches.

The apartment is one of a very few apartments on the resort that has a combination of a private balcony, (most have a shared balcony), located on the 1st floor (more privacy), 2 bathrooms and is located in a nice quiet position on the resort.

This is a large 2 bedroom apartment offering a large bathroom, fully fitted kitchen and spacious living area. Comprising of 2 separate bedrooms (1 double bedroom with King Size bed and 1 twin room), Main living and dining area, fully fitted kitchen, Full bathroom with bath and shower and a Balcony.

There is a 42' HD flat screen TV with satellite in the lounge and a 32' HD flat screen TV that is wall mounted in main bedroom. Air-con is included.

The 5-star MELIÃ Tortuga Beach offers a full range of resort facilities for your perfect Cape Verde holiday.

This includes a range of restaurants serving world class cuisine inspired by delicious flavours from all over the world. There is a fine selection of bars, including the O Grille Beach Bar and Grille, which is perfect for watching the sun go down with a bite to eat or a few drinks. Or you can relax in the Secret Garden, a cool space for BBQ, food, drinks and shisha.

The signature YHI Spa offers total relaxation and is the place to go to relax whilst the fully equipped gymnasium is perfect for those looking for something more active.

MELIÃ Tortuga is a great resort for families, with an excellent Kids club and separate children's pool, as well as an activities programme for the Kids to enjoy throughout the day.

There are loads of activities to entertain you on Ponta Preta beach. Including the Marley Bar, Bikini Beach Club and a number of restaurants, all within a walking distance of the MELIÃ Tortuga Beach Resort & Spa.

The Viveiro Golf & Country Club is the first sustainable green golf course in Cape Verde, with a Golf Club that is only 500 metres away from the MELIÃ Tortuga Beach Resort & Spa . It is a 9-hole course, Par 35, with a length of approximately 2,800m. This golf course is an oasis in the desert. It is surrounded by palm trees and with a 300º view to the Atlantic Ocean. It is the first golf course with real grass in Cape Verde.

There is a bank and supermarket 200 metres away from the resort and many more banks, supermarkets, mini markets and local markets in Santa Maria.

Santa Maria, which is less than 10 minutes from the resort by taxi, has many fabulous bars and restaurants, day or night there is always somewhere to be entertained, from daytime beach activities to night time live music and many nightclubs.

Sal Island, one of the Barlavento Islands, is a charming island nation off the African west coast. Cape Verde is great for holidays in the sun. Beautiful white sand beaches and clear blue waters awaits you on Boa Vista, Sal and other stunning Cape Verde islands.

There are many other places of interest including the Fortaleza del Real Felipe, built in the 16th century, which is a restored Spanish fort overlooking Santiago’s Cidade Velha. Grand Mount Fogo, Cape Verde’s tallest peak, offers intrepid climbers amazing panoramic views from its summit. Unspoilt Brava, smallest of the islands, contains an incredible wealth of diverse wildlife in its expansive forests.

If lounging on balmy tropical beaches is your thing, Sal delivers big time. The most tourist-oriented Cape Verde island, this stunning gem is encircled by dazzling white sands and turquoise waters, creating an idyllic playground for sun and surf fanatics. There's a myriad of ocean-going pursuits to enjoy, from snorkelling and diving amid waters alive with tropical fish, to exhilarating deep-sea fishing, windsurfing and kite-surfing. You must go to Kite beach, if not to participate, it is still a great place for the spectator.

The main hotspot of Santa Maria has friendly cafes, bars, surf shops and restaurants and for more adventure, take a Jeep safari through the surreal desert landscape to wow at the volcanic crater of Pedra da Lume and the astonishing ocean-mirage at Terra Boa. By night, Santa Maria swings into action, with a cavalcade of morna-playing bars, mouth-watering fish restaurants and a cluster of discos to keep you up late.

You really feel safe and relaxed here. The locals are charming, shy and very friendly and they go out of their way to help.

Try the restaurants on nearby Ponta Preta Beach or Angulo Windsurfing and Kitesurfing Centre for lunch. Africa + SAB, in Santa Maria (especially for their tuna steak dinner) or the Agua Hotels Sal Vila Verde Hotel's a la carte restaurant, Restaurante Karavela, that offers you a very different but fantastic dining experiences for a night out.

Melia Tortuga Sal Cape Verde

The resort was all inclusive but not 4 star the drinks were good quality but the food in the restaurants was poor quality and very expensive to upgrade to all inclusive was £81pp per day we only wanted to go self catering as Santa Maria has fabulous restaurants and bars we found a gem of an apartment on the hotel complex Apartment 227 2 bedroom 2 bathroom with a large spacious lounge area the apartment was amazing it was spotless and had everything you could need for a self catering holiday washing machine microwave toaster coffee machine kettle cooker fridge although we only used the kettle and the fridge being an ex travel agent for 21 years I would have had no hesitation in recommending this apartment the beach and pools were fabulous Denis our host was very quick to answer any questions he had if we were ever going back to Cape Verde this is where we would stay

Lovely spacious apartment

Melia Tortuga has a fantastic beach front with plenty of sun loungers. Food on the resort not the best so we went non all inclusive and spent several lovely nights in Santa Maria which is a 5 euro taxi away wirh several really nice restaurants. Only thing lacking is that the Internet/WiFi is very sketchy. Would stay there again if the apartment gets a good hi speed internet connection

Terrific place to stay- go quickly!

Melia Tortuga resort has everything for those who want all-inclusive, but is also a great base for the independent-minded traveller to venture elsewhere. All apartments seem to have a standard fit-out, and this has everything that you'd need, with the bonus of a washing machine. All our holiday clothes, bar the last evening, were washed and could be put away on arrival back home. Motto- take fewer clothes! Good pools on-resort, great beach, with the added benefit of an area protected by breakwaters to allow safer swimming. (red flags on the main beach throughout- sea too rough). The main attraction for us was Santa Maria: it was just like the Greek islands 40 years ago.... fishermen gutting their catch on the pier, a sheltered beach and swimming every day. Literally EVERY watersport or activity you could wish for.. Sal is windy- no getting away from that, but pick up a lounger and you hardly notice it. Great place, we would go again. Only point to note is that this apartment is right on the edge of the Melia resort, and building work will take place sometime right next door on a new resort development- we would advise to check before you book. Otherwise, Great!

Lovely clean, well equipped 2 bed apartment

The apartment is very clean and has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. I don't think I've ever stayed anywhere with so much coffee and so many cleaning products. The washing machine was handy as it cut down the amount of laundry we took home. We were very grateful for the washing powder and hope you found the replacements. We cooked breakfast in the apartment using ingredients from the local shop. We didn't actually eat on site but there is a nice looking restaurant. There are just so many restaurants in the local town Santa Maria and it's only 3 euros in the day and 4 euros at night for 1 of the easily available taxis. There are 2 pools which had lots of beds but quite frankly we came for the beach and the crashing waves - they were spectacular. Don't forget to get your beach towel card it was really useful. We had a wonderful week and will most definitely be back.

Very peaceful, family friendly stay.

The property is in a fantastic resort located only a 15 minute drive from the airport and just five minutes from Santa Maria. We didn't take advantage of the opportunity to upgrade to the hotel's All Inclusive package, instead we ate out in Santa Maria or we bought food in town and cooked in the well equipped kitchen. The hotel pools are nice and well kept, but the hotel beach was a little soulless for our tastes so we went to the beautiful beach in Santa Maria every day instead. The apartment itself is faultless, perfect for a family. The balcony is lovely for eating out on and having a glass of wine in the evening. Denis, the owner, was easy to contact and very helpful. Would absolutely recommend.

Nichts für uns

Die Wohnung ist recht geräumig und liegt ruhig am Rande des Resorts. Sie ist gut eingerichtet, die Betten bequem, ein schöner großer Balkon und ein große Küche. Beide Bäder bieten allen Komfort, den man braucht. Leider fehlt es in der Küche an etlichen Dingen. Kochen war ein bißchen problematisch. Die versprochene Spülmaschine war leider nicht vorhanden. Der Safe war defekt und Badehandtücher waren ebenfalls nicht da. In dieser Preisklasse kann man das allerdings erwarten. Man hätte Badetücher wohl an der Rezeption teuer mieten können. Handtuchwechsel findet ebenfalls nicht statt, aber da wir portugiesisch sprechen, konnten wir mit den netten Hausmädchen kommunizieren und haben trotzdem welche bekommen. Mit Trinkgeld geht eben alles. Das Internet ist vorhanden, aber sehr schwach. Wir hatten bei der Buchung darauf hingewiesen, das wir selbstständig sind und jeden Tag unsere Mails lesen müssen, zu manchen Zeiten war das einfach nicht möglich. Wir sind ins Melia Llana ausgewichen, wenn wir gutes Internet wollten. In der Anlage etwas zu konsumieren, empfiehlt sich wegen der sehr überhöhten Preise nicht, ist auch schwer möglich, weil es weder Preislisten gibt noch das Personal mit der Abrechnung vertraut ist. Man kann zwar seine Kreditkartendaten an der Rezeption hinterlegen, dann soll es angeblich funktionieren, aber das wollten wir nicht. Zudem ist Essen und Trinken im Städtchen erheblich günstiger und sehr lecker. In der Anlage haben 90 % der Gäste all inclusiv, man fiel als "einfacher Wohngast" wohl durchs Raster. Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter war anfangs gut, bis man bezahlt hatte. Dann war Funkstille und auf Anliegen wurde nicht mehr reagiert. Wir wollten, weil unser Flug gecancelt wurde, eine Nacht stornieren. Im Hinblick auf den Preis hätte ich zumindest erwartet, das man auf meine mehrfachen Fragen reagiert, aber gar nicht zu reagieren, macht auf uns keinen guten Eindruck. Wir buchen oft bei Fewo oder anderen Portalen, bisher hat man immer irgendwie kommunizieren können. Hier hatte man nur den Eindruck, schnell das Geld bekommen und dann will man nichts mit dem Gast zu tun haben - schade. So bleibt trotz eines genossenen Urlaubs ein schaler Beigeschmack. Aber das ist eben nur unsere persönliche Betrachtung. Jeder betrachtet das ja aus seinem Blickwinkel. Ich denke, wen die obigen Anmerkungen nicht stören, kann hier einen entspannten Urlaub verleben.

Appartement agréable dans hôtel de standing

Appartement agréable et bien équipé, intégré à un hôtel 5 étoiles. On bénéficie des équipements (piscines, salle de sport…) et animations de l'établissement. Seul petit bémol, la plage sur laquelle donne l'hôtel n'est pas top, mais une magnifique plage de sable blanc est accessible à environ 25 minutes à pied, en prenant le bord de mer.

Wonderful apartment in a gorgeous resort

My husband and I and our 10year old twins stayed in Denis apartment at the beginning of April. There was everything we needed and the washing machine was a really personal touch that meant we didn't have to take as many clothes! The beds are extremely comfy and air con was welcome just to cool the place down for a little while. ( not that it was roasting hot in April but still warm inside at first) The resort is catered for all inclusive which we ended up doing for the first week as buying food from the little supermarket is very expensive. However week two we just paid for breakfast then ate out every night. Some lovely little restaurants in Santa Maria. The PalmBeach was especially nice. Getting taxis is super easy and the3 euro during the day rule and 4 euro at night makes it easy. The resorts are a short taxi ride to the town. The locals are very friendly as they need tourism. We got to know one of the men who worked on the beach selling island tours,Mustapha, and he ended up inviting us to his home a few days later. It was a traditional basic African home and the food was a chicken stew which we all ate communally on the floor. Wonderful experience! If you want to do an island Tour don't but from Thompsons, but from the guys on the beach. 3 times cheaper and totally safe. We loved Cape Verde and are squirrelling our penning so we can go back in turtle season. Thanks Denis for a lovey stay. Your apartment is in a great quiet location and the sea view was a bonus. We'll be back!!

Well equiped and clean

We had a lovely 2 week stay in this lovely property. It had everything we needed even a his and hers bathroom. Also the apartments are well sound proofed, didn't hear the neighbours who had kids. We were also very pleased with the view hadn't expected a sea view. Lovely. We didn't bother with all inclusive as we wanted to try the local places just a 3 or 4 euro ride away. The lads on the door will always whistle one up for you. The hotel staff are a joy. All in all a good holiday 😎

Nice first floor apartment with good views from the private balcony.

Good facilities including air-conditioning and kitchen. Wi fi available all around the Tortuga complex including apartment although slow but manageable. Plenty of sun beds available on beach and pool side. We had a very good time eating at several restaurants in Santa Maria. Would go back and stay at this apartment again. Staff in MeliaTortuga Hotel very helpful and friendly.

Traumurlaub in Traumapartment!

Gerade zurückgekehrt von unserem ersten Urlaub auf Sal sind wir noch immer total begeistert! Wir haben 14 Tage in dem Apartment von Loraine und Denis verbracht und es war traumhaft schön. Das Apartment ist im Melia Tortuga Beach Hotel gelegen, einer wirklich sehr schönen 5-Sterne-Anlage vor Ort. Im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Gästen hatten wir allerdings kein AI, sondern eben nur das Apartment gebucht - und das war richtig super so. Einerseits konnten wir die Pools, den Fitnessraum (etwas klein, aber...), den Spa-Bereich und die Liegen am Strand nutzen, waren aber weder an das Essen noch an Essenszeiten gebunden. In Santa Maria gibt es massenweise super leckere Restaurants, AI wäre einfach nur schade gewesen... So haben wir uns morgens selbst Frühstück gemacht (in den Supermärkten gibt es alles) und haben mittags und abends in einem der unzähligen Restaurants in Santa Maria gegessen, ach was geschlemmt! In dem Apartment von Loraine und Dennis war alles, wirklich alles vorhaben: Von der Kaffeemaschine, über den Toaster, die Mikrowelle und den Flatscreen mit ca. 7 deutschen Prgrammen, Geschirr, Töpfe, Handtücher in Mengen, bequeme Betten, usw. Besonders schön ist der Ausblick vom Balkon auf das Meer, da fängt der Tag doch einfach schon gut an! Die Anlage selbst ist sehr gepflegt, mit nettem, freundlichem Personal. Bis Santa Maria sind es mit dem Taxi (zwischen 3 und 4 Euro Fahrtkosten) nur ca. 5 Minuten. Santa Maria ist ein hübsches kleines Städtchen, farbenfroh, voller Leben. Abends ist überall Musik in den Straßen, fast karibisch anmutend... Die war unser erster, aber sicherlich nicht letzter Aufenthalt auf Sal, gerne auch wieder bei Loraine und Denis!

We are a family of 4, that includes 2 young adults who have been vacationing in Cape Verde for over a decade . We have always travelled, with extensive vacations all across the Caribbean (e.g. Grenada, Tobago, St Kitts, Antigua, Bahamas, St Lucia, Barbados, Jamaica etc, etc) as well as across the USA, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, France etc.

As such, we wanted to procure a home away from home that we could frequently visit but experience the same levels of enjoyment as we were always used to.

I am the COO of the first dedicated, ethically compliant investment platform connecting ethical start-ups/scale-ups with like-minded investors.

However, I have spent the last couple of decades leading large scale global investment programmes involving technology change, in well- known multinational companies that were going through a business critical transformation.

I am a long standing member of the Institute of Directors and I am a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.

Why they chose this property

We loved Cape Verde because we can revel in a Caribbean like experience but without the jet lag. At the time that we purchased the property there was a lot of buzz around the development community about the potential of Cape Verde, but the clincher for us was when the MELIÃ group decided to run the resort.

All of the marketing surrounding the buzz has materialised and there are loads more facilities and services to come.

This is a great destination and a fantastic resort.
