About this property
Breathtaking views in charming village Cote d'Azur
Beautiful secluded traditional French family house with stunning uninterrupted mountain views from a huge terrace. A few minutes stroll to the fabulous restaurants and bars of the picture postcard village of Sospel, and a short bus ride to the coast and the glamorous beaches of Menton and Monte Carlo.
People from all walks of life and backgrounds are very welcome.
The house has been in our family for nearly 50 years, since my parents emigrated to Monaco in the 1960s. They moved from bustling Monte Carlo up to the mountains and bought this house because of the truly breathtaking position, which has to be seen to be believed. It's filled with original vintage furniture (but brand new luxurious beds!) and fond memories, but has all mod cons including wifi and Netflix on the flatscreen. It's a large airy multi level house with huge shuttered windows and amazing views of the Sospel valley from every room. It has a secluded terraced garden with fruit trees and roses.
The three double bedrooms all have uninterrupted views across the Sospel valley and the mountains.
There is a neat new shower room upstairs and a large traditional family bathroom downstairs adjacent to the master bedroom.
The kitchen is a mixture of brand new gas stove and oven, and traditional Provence functionality. It's our kitchen, so you can use it as we do! The smaller fridge is usually just for wine!
There are two big living spaces, the heart of the house which is a huge dining room with wonderful views and a large and comfortable lounge to play games and watch TV.
On foot, the house is accessed from the village via an ancient path that winds up the hill through terraced gardens. It's a bit steep but very manageable. Via car, the house is accessed via the top road and private driveway.

Why they chose this property
After the war, my parents emigrated to Monte Carlo to work for shipping magnate Onassis. When they retired, in 1974, they bought this house as the epitome of a perfect French house in an unspoilt village, with a great community (bars!) and dripping with local charm. They soon became part of the furniture as the English couple that had great parties up at the house and they, and then later extended family after my father passed away, lived there very happily until a few years ago. It's been our special place for holidays and relaxation for 4 decades. And now, we have decided it's the perfect time to share this lovely house with others.
What makes this property unique
I cant really explain how amazing the location is. The huge unending views of layers of mountains, the beaming sunshine, the gorgeous smell of warm grass and fresh mountain air. It's just instant relaxation from the minute you drop your bag and sit down for a glass of wine and breathe it all in.
The village of Sospel a short walk down the hill is buzzing, but traditional. Several Patisseries, local butcher, grocers, markets - and multiple bars and restaurants that have outside seating along the river, with views of the medieval bridge. There's a bus that takes you straight to the beach at Menton for day trips for 3 euro. And the cathedral is remarkable for such a small village. You must see for yourself!
