Taigh Dollaig

Taigh Dolag is a traditional croft house that offers modern comfort in a secluded location with exceptional views. Situated in an elevated position in Eyre on the eastern shore of Loch Snizort Beag on the northern coast of Skye, the location commands outstanding views out to the Minch and the Outer Hebrides in the distance.

With only a 7 minute drive to Portree, the island capital, and a 10 minute drive to the Western Isles ferry terminal, the house is ideally located for those wishing to tour the island, and further afield.

With modern furnishings throughout, the two bedroom house offers a comfortable base to explore Skye, or just to relax and take in the magical scenery. There is a comfortable living room with a wood burning stove, one double bedroom, one kingsize bedroom, bathroom and a large fully equipped Kitchen diner with french doors. The house has central heating and a private garden with seating area.

Located on a working croft, we will be tending to livestock daily and are unable to accommodate pets. Private parking is available. The house can accommodate a maximum of 4 people.

Absolutely amazing stay
This was one of my favourite places to stay amongst all my travels. Such a well taken care of property with absolutely stunning views. The host Joan was very welcoming and informative. The check in process was so simple and easy. The location was great, very close to Portree (10min drive) but at the end of a quiet road so there was no traffic noises. I hope I can come back!

Lovely house and location. Nicely refurbished with everything you need for an extended stay. Description and photos are accurate. Quiet location, no passing traffic, convenient to Portree. Great views across the loch. Comfortable beds. Joan is a very responsive host. Highly recommended.

Wonderful stay, great views. House is located close enough to Portree for restaurants or supplies but being the last house on the road at top of a hill it feels like you are miles away from everyone. Great stay - excellently presented . Thank you .

Beautiful home, great location, great views!
Taigh Dolag is a beautiful home with everything you could possibly need. It's in a great location, with a view over the water - watching the sun set is a must (for our stay, we had amazing Winter sunsets). Communication - booking was simple. Joan was very helpful, friendly and easy to contact. Kids enjoyed the garden and watching the sheep and cows in the fields. We enjoyed our tranquil stay here and would definitely come again if we are back in Skye. Would recommend for sure!

Incredible property, more generous living areas than i had expected. The highlight was the incredible outlook, loved sitting out the front each evening watching the sunset. If I am lucky enough to return to Skye i would definitely stay here again.

Taigh Dolag is a perfectly updated and equipped authentic croft in an amazing location. Views from the croft over Loch Snizort and out to Harris will take your breath away! Stunning sunsets! It's location is perfect for accessing all parts of Skye.

Good experience
We thought the accommodation was very clean and comfortable. Views were beautiful. It was centrally located which made it easy to go around the island. There was a small water issue the first day where more proactive communication would have helped, but otherwise everything was smooth. One quick tip is to make sure you bring your own toiletries since other than soap and towels, nothing was provided.

The view alone reason to stay here
We stayed five nights to explore and hike the island. The cottage was located perfectly to quickly access the walks we chose; the Fairy Pools, The Quiraing, various beaches, etc.We were also close to Portree for shopping, dining and groceries. The cottage was spotless and comfortable. The bedding and towels were luxurious. I can’t say enough about the view from every window, and of course standing outside. The sunsets were spectacular as we were blessed with gorgeous weather. The welcome chocolates and gourmet coffee were nice touches.

Beautiful home!
We had a fantastic stay at this home. There was a small issue at the beginning of our stay with lack of water however no fault of owner. She did provide us with plenty of water to maintain till fixed. Home had everything we needed. Close to shopping and all the sights. Stunning views out front! Plenty of space inside the house. We would definitely recommend.

What a view
Great location, beautiful house! Had a problem contacting both VRBO and our host when we had a small problem. Neither were available via email and we had no phone only data. However overall our stay was fantastic!

Lovely Croft House on Skye
My daughter and I stayed at Joan’s while exploring Skye. It’s the perfect location, just 15 minutes or so from Portree and right on the Trotterish loop. But we could also have just stayed at the house and enjoyed the view! Everything about the listing was as advertised and Joan was easy to communicate with. We were sorry we had to leave!

Peaceful cottage with great views
We had a lovely stay in Taigh Dolag. The house is at the end of a cul-de-sac, meaning only the occasional sheep or cow is walking past the house. The house is comfortable and nicely furnished, with lovely touches such as soap made on Skye. We enjoyed the welcome pack consisting of shortbread biscuits, jams and coffee. The kitchen is well equipped but a few more plates, mugs and glasses would have been appreciated, to avoid having to wash up by hand or avoid running a half-empty dishwasher. That said this wasn't a big issue; just mentioning here as a suggestion. Beds were comfortable and duvets nice and warm. There's a log burner in the lounge, we didn't use it though because it was warm enough when we stayed. Portree is only a short drive away and has a large supermarket. All in a wonderful stay!

Taigh Dolag is a very beautiful house in an incredible setting. The accomodation was well equipped and extremely well maintained. We felt very relaxed here and the views were spectacular. Joan the host was very helpful and there was lots of sightseeing information at the property. We were 2 couples and we would definitely return to Skye and stay at this holiday home.

A beautiful cottage with stunning views
We so enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage. It was so thoughtfully and beautifully decorated with local Skye art and crafts - not another IKEA cottage! And it was very comfortable and clean. Everything we needed was thought of from cooking meals to providing lots of maps and walking books for walking. It was easy to get to Portree and to explore the Trotternish penninsula and beyond. Highly recommend.

The Perfect Stay
Everything was ideal: the idyllic location, the views, the layout of the house, the communication with the owner both before and during the stay, the animals on both sides of the road, the appliances including a terrific washing machine. I could go on but you must get the picture. We would have stayed longer than our 6 nights if it was available.

Perfekt um seine Ruhe zu finden…
Die tolle Lage und der Blick in die Ferne untermalt von den etwas schüchternen Schafen und Lämmern waren genau was wir brauchten um mal wieder richtig runter zu kommen. Die Lage ist zur Erkundung der Insel Skye perfekt im Zentrum… auch ein Regentag ist mit einem guten Buch am prasselnden Kaminfeuer sehr gut auszuhalten! Alles sehr sauber und komplett eingerichtet… wir werden es im Freundeskreis weiterempfehlen!
