Slemish Barn offers a unique accommodation experience for up to 16 in four downstairs ensuite private rooms and up to 17 in two upstairs ensuite private rooms that can be used as dorms on request with extra beds added.
We have a well equipped kitchen where guests can cater for themselves and a spacious dining/ social area downstairs. There is also a spacious function room upstairs which can also double as a second social space.
There is generous outside space for socialising and also parking space for more than 10 cars.
We are situated in the Braid Valley between the award winning floral village of Broughshane and the picturesque fishing village of Carnlough, in the shadow of Slemish mountain where St Patrick is reputed to have lived. This beautiful area is known as the Gateway to the Glens, and is only a short distance to the Glens Of Antrim where the Causeway Coastal Route meanders through. We are in an ideal spot to act as a base to explore the North Coast, Belfast and The Sperrins, all less than an hour by car.
All beds are bunks except double bed in room 5. Double beds in other family rooms have single bunk above
We have wide experience in hosting a wide variety of guests including family, church, youth, and university groups.
We have wide contacts with local activity providers and can also provide catering as well as facilitating transport arrangements for groups
We have strong connections to traditional music in the area, specifically the Counties Antrim and Derry Country Fiddlers Association which is one of the largest traditional fiddling schools in the island of Ireland which celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2013 and can host traditional music nights of both music and dancing on request for a fee.
We also have a strong sustainable theme with significant green energy systems and the building has been built and furnished with reclaimed and second hand materials where possible
