This is the best cottage in Shaldon and we've tried most! Beautifully laid out cottage, perfect location with real attention to detail. They really have thought of everything!
A lovely cottage to stay in. So comfortable and clean.
Central to alot of places to go and lovely walks.
Has a lovely pub opposite with amazing food and great friendly staff.
Teignmougth has the Crabshack, up on the Dawlish road Smuugkers do a great roast.
The property has been decorated very tastefully , the host is very helpful.
The stairs were a real problem .. steep and a feeling of not feeling safe… the baby gate caused some concern to get over as t was in the way of the first step . I feel the stairs would be much safer with the hessian carpet which was unused a rugs and hallway around
. They seemed slippery .
The kitchen could do with more utensils . Wooden spoons for food mixing etc as the ones there are all plastic
The property is situated ina beautiful part of the country and it’s a stunning village … the house as said is extremely tasteful and cozy … very clean
Fantastic property and surroundings. We used as a base for a 3 day uni visit and wished we had another couple of days. Ok parking a nightmare so used the Ness long stay every day for which a pass is provided and only a ten minute walk. I could live off the Belgian and Ugli buns from the local baker. Pub across the green served excellent fish and chips. Cirl Bunting hot spot within a slightly hilly walk of the property and Dawlish Warren also around the corner. Village has a really friendly feel to it. Thanks for accommodating us and the dogs. Highly recommended and great comms from the owners.
It exceeded our expectations, both in facilities and in location. Photographs of the green don't do it justice - we loved this spot - the houses around the green are so pretty and it's such an easy walk into the village.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - our first in a cottage! Located in a quiet area, overlooking a bowling green, the property is full of character and history. We appreciated it for all its quirks and charm, and felt comfortable in our surroundings.
The property was extremely clean and well furnished to a high standard - particularly the mattresses - we all slept comfortably. Parking can be tricky but there is a dedicated parking space a few minutes walk away.
The owners were nice and friendly. Communication was easy and straightforward.
Shaldon and Teignmouth were unknown to us but we were really surprised with how much we enjoyed exploring the area for the day. We were glad we took a gamble on this property. Our only regret was that we weren’t able to stay an extra night.
I couldn’t fault any thing about this property. Owner has left full instructions to everything you may need. Fully equipped. Lovely and clean, beautiful location and the house is furnished beautifully. I would definitely recommend. Shaldon is a wonderful village very peaceful and very welcoming
Great little cottage. Very nicely decorated and very comfortable place to stay. Sara and Andrew were great hosts and were very helpful. Thoroughly recommend their cottage.
A beautiful house in a beautiful setting. It is situated in a great location with places to eat, drink and shop right on the doorstep. Everything had been thought of and provided to make our stay comfortable and relaxing which is just what we needed. Thanks to Sara who kept in touch and provided all the information we needed.
Beautiful cottage, comfy warm and cosy, With all the amenities you could want. A perfect place to relax.
Situated close to all of shaldon pubs, restaurants and a good range of local shops.
We will be returning hopefully next year.
We had a brilliant week staying here. Beautifully decorated and with everything we could possibly need. Thank you to Sara and Andrew who were superb hosts.
Very easy and straightforward. The property was very tastefully renovated and well equipped. It was just like being in your own home.
From previous experience we know Shaldon is a lovely little village and we weren't disappointed!
We'll be back!
Best house we have stayed in in Shaldon and we have done a few. The front door is a pain and needs to be looked at but otherwise it’s perfect. We will book again.
Wonderful short break in high quality accommodation. Everything has been considered and it really is home from home.

About the host
Hosted by Sara Gane
Andrew and I returned to Devon 20 years ago. They say life is a journey homeward bound and we have loved coming back to this beautiful part of the world and establishing a successful holiday business in Topsham. We hope to replicate that success in Shaldon. We have over 50 years of retail experience between and we run the businesses ourselves aiming to give our guests a home away from home experience.
Why they chose this property
We love the estuary villages of Devon and we just fell in love with this property in Shaldon. It has the ideal combination of a quiet village location with proximity to the waters front. With Teignmouth just across the water it really is the perfect location for family and friends to enjoy this beautiful part of Devon.
What makes this property unique
As a listed property we have been in the unique position of mixing both old and new to produce what we believe is a comfortable place to stay whilst retaining some historical charm.
