Mini break

Fantastic location in a very picturesque setting with a lovely little river flowing across the bottom of the field. The Shepherds hut was spotless with home made cakes an eggs supplied by the owner. The only thing that spoiled it for us was the chemical toilet smell that seemed to linger around the hut and we had to burn a lavender candle (provided ) to take it away. Not sure if it is normal for it to smell strongly but looking at previous reviews , probably not.

Amazing! Will be going again!

This place is not about the cleanliness or hygiene, it about getting back into the natural world, seeing Mother Nature at her best, taking advantage of the lovely wilderness. It was so peaceful and tranquil, the sound of the stream next to us was amazing! Would definitely recommend! Currently looking for my own hut I’ve lived it so much!

The most unique and amazing experience in the most gorgeous hut.

My husband, dog and I were touring around The Lake District and we needed to find a place for one night. I found this Shepherds Hut and the booking was accepted very quickly. Hilary is a wonderful host who has put an amazing amount of effort and attention to detail to her hut. She kindly allowed us to arrive earlier and stay later as there were no other guests following us. On arrival we had homemade scones and jam, fresh flowers and eggs waiting for us! The field is bigger than I expected with a stream at the bottom and a picnic bench. We had dinner outside with a fire lit and watched the bats and heard the owls. The hut is super cosy and very warm - we slept better there than anywhere on our trip! Hilary has also made sure there are breakfast items for you in the morning - cereals, bread etc. As it describes you are off grid and how wonderful that was! Absolute peace and quiet where you can escape from everything and everyone! We will definitely return for some more R&R Thank you Hilary for a blissful stay in your gorgeous hut.
