Loved being by the lake

Cottage was clean and very comfortable . Views of the lake were great. We didn't try any restaurants as my daughter was recuperating from surgery but kitchen was well stocked and we had everything we needed. The dock and lake were nice.

Comfortable Stay at Stunning Lake Champlain !

Lovely, cozy little house at stunning Lake Champlain! Friendly neighbors and very remote location just a few miles south of Canada so it's very quiet and peaceful, but not far from a village in case you want a dinner out. Jesse made sure there was everything we needed for a comfortable stay, and was always available. We hope to stay again!

We loved the house ! It had beautiful furniture and was very well maintained!

The area surrounding the property was very scenic! We enjoyed eating our breakfast while looking at the lake! The state park , Albury dunes, was only a mile away and was a very nice beach. We would consider coming here again!

Quiet, Relaxing time in a beautiful location on Lake Champlain

We really enjoyed our oasis. Much thought put into what we might need to make our stay more enjoyable. Loved the instruction sheets with the drawings pertaining to the property, very cleaver. We will probably make another visit. The surrounding area is beautiful.

Charming house in an amazing location!

The house was immaculate and there was so much to see and do in the immediate area-- spent a lot of time at the nearby state park with the sandy beach. This place is a gem!

Host profile image
I am a non-profit and education field professional currently working as advisor to community service programs at Harvard College, active lifestyle includes biking, climbing, hiking, skiing, and more. I love cooking and eating good food, much thanks to my wife, Annie, who is amazing in the kitchen. We cook while listening to music most nights - from soul to hip hop to indie to house - if we don't get home too late from work. Annie works for Boston Public Schools as an 8th grade counselor and she loves reading, climbing, biking, drawing, walking/running and practicing yoga. We are both involved in social justice activities outside of work, mostly around education and youth issues.

We love to travel and do so as often as our schedule and budget allow, recently to Oregon, Colorado, Montreal, Morocco, Italy, and Guatemala. We plan to stay busy in the summer all around when we're not spending time in VT by the lake. We're focused on quality time with friends almost every weekend, and visit family in Chicago, NY and VT whenever we get the chance. We are always open to new adventures, especially active, outdoors and abroad. My dream is to drive down the west coast of Central and South America, as well as a cross country US trip to see baseball games from coast to coast. Annie hopes to bring me back to South Africa, where she spent time studying the post-apartheid education system, and where we hope to see Tanzania and Congo.

Why they chose this property

This cottage by the lake is a former one-room schoolhouse converted into a cozy home with open kitchen and dining room, space to sit and sleep inside, a sunporch and large deck and yard, all across from the lake! The interior is outfitted with handmade furniture created by my father, and we love to cook so have outfitted the kitchen and grill for some amazing meals! A private dock for the cottage association with just 2 other properties is yours to lounge on and swim off of. We love to retreat here once or twice per year and want to share the relaxation and place to get away.

What makes this property unique

The sunset over the lake!
Proximity to Montreal and Burlington!
Swimming and grilling!
The islands - biking, wine-tasting, art, antiques, water sports, and more in this magical and relaxing place!
