About this property

The Palms Areca-Attractive, Alluring and Aesthetically artistic

The Palm Areca

The Palms is a private property, located in a suburban neighbourhood, 25 minutes away from the Grantley Adams International Airport. Its central location places the property a few minutes away from the major shopping areas on the island: 15 minutes from Bridgetown (the capital), 10 minutes from Holetown and 6 minutes from Warrens.

Warrens, the closest hub to the property, has become a ‘mini-capital’ on the island. In this area, guests can find several banks, the island’s largest supermarket, various shops and several restaurants.

It is also ideally situated for many of the major tourist attractions: a 20-minute drive to Harrison’s Cave, a 20-miute drive to the Barbados Museum or a 9-minute drive to Atlantis Submarines. Cricket enthusiasts can enjoy a game at the 3W cricket field at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus 5 minutes away or at Kensington Oval 9 minutes away.

The Palms is a short 6-minute drive from the west coast that is peppered with many beaches, all of which are open to the public. If so inclined, guests can feel free to take any of the 3 bus routes that operate 5 minutes away from the property, to take in the island as locals do.

The apartment is newly renovated and is part of a larger the property that has a mature mango from which guests may enjoy, depending on the time of the year. The property also boasts lush gardens that are littered with many flowering plants and many palm trees, for which the property is named.

This ground floor apartment is a full one-bedroom apartment and accommodates two persons.

The kitchen is fully stocked with plates, glasses, cutlery, dishes, pots and cooking utensils, as well as a kettle, toaster and coffee maker. There is a refrigerator, counter-top stove, built-in oven, microwave and a washing machine.

The living room, with a ceiling fan is outfitted with a comfy sectional, a coffee table and flat screen TV (with Netflix). Directly opposite the sofa is a beautiful cracked- mirrored wall which is the focal point of this room. The combined dining/kitchen area has seating for four and there is a glass-top table with four chairs. This area boasts a ceiling fan, cabinets with lights which reach to the ceiling.

The bedroom is air-conditioned with a double bed and two side tables, each with its own lamp. There is a ceiling fan, a vanity which can double as a work area and can accommodate a laptop. Several closets, full-length mirrors are provided in the bedroom. There is also additional closet space in the corridor. Bed linens and towels will also be provided and additional ones may be located in the large storage close in the spacious bathroom.

Free Wi-Fi and telephone (local calls only) are provided

About the host

Hosted by Margaret Campbell Leslie

Host profile image
I am tall, dark skinned and married. I have three beautiful daughters.
I love beautiful things. I studied interior design and landscape design and I have transferred my knowledge into giving you a beautiful apartment during your stay in Barbados. I love gardening and painting. I so enjoy taking a chaotic space and transforming it into a space of beauty.
Above all, I love God. I cannot live without Him. Of course I do not impose my religion on my guest. They however benefit by His principles of agape love, kindness, care and my motto of "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Therefore my offerings to my guests are exactly what I would offer to myself.
I studied Natural Resource Management and my most exciting destination was in the tropical rain forest in the interior of Guyana.
I am a vegetarian and I love reading books delving into God's character of love.
As a host, I will do all to make your visit to Barbados a great one. I am available to assist, ask questions but I do not impose my presence unless you request it. I do so respect your privacy.
If you book the Palms or any other place in Barbados, I wish you a beautiful stay on our beautiful island.

Why they chose this property

It is a unique and very clean space. I have concentrated on detail to make it comfortable and interesting. I supervised the building of the house and my daughter, who is an architect, designed those focal points within the apartment. I designed the cupboards and was even involved in the painting of the apartment! This makes it very special for me. I want to share it with you, for you to enjoy it as I enjoyed it when it was my primary home.

What makes this property unique

The bamboo- fabric wall, the dotted wall , the wall written with excerpts from "Pride and Prejudice' and most importantly, the walls which are covered with pieces of glass which are fitted together to give a beautiful space; these made me fall in love with the apartment
