Sam Hill's Cottage, built in 1934, has the charm of Prescott history with the conveniences of today (NEW CENTRAL AC!!!) . Owned by a descendant of Sam Hill and nestled among granite hills, our cottage is a true Prescott experience. Founded in 1877 The Sam'l Hill Hardware Company was destroyed along with the rest of Whiskey Row on Montezuma Street during the infamous Prescott Fire. By 1903 the rebuilt store soon became the region's largest hardware supplier. "Why in the Sam Hill are you telling me this" you ask? Because we want you to experience Prescott past and present in Sam Hill's Cottage.

House was clean but shabby. Furniture was old and rickety. One bed was worn out. Yard and exterior unkept. I caught a couple mice in the house...
The big problem was with the AC which was inadequate and failed halfway through stay. Landlords were nice but were unable to do timely repairs. They did provide a portable AC which was very noisy and of little use to cool the house.
We move out early and did receive a small refund but, in my opinion, not enough to compensate for the troubles we endured.
I cannot recommend this place.
We enjoy all the nearby hiking and there is always something happening in downtown Prescott. The Christmas lights are spectacular. Elks theater concerts, parades, shopping and restaurants. Colts BBQ, Papas Italian and El Gato Azul are our favorites.
This property sits back on a dark and quiet road. There are next to no noises at all. The house was super cozy, the beds were great. The shower....OMG amazing! The only little minor issue I had was getting into the lock box to gain access to the key. The numbers were hard to see and the little lever that you pull down..not very agreeable. Other than the little disagreement with the lock box...FANTASTIC SPOT!!! Look forward to stay next year for the Legacy Ranch Horse Sale.
We enjoyed our stay at Sam Hill’s Cottage. Description on-line was accurate. Location was great and quiet. Sleeping arrangements were comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the porch in the morning reading for a bit each day. The location is only a short distance from downtown. We spent our time exploring the sights nearby such as Watson Lake and Willow Creek reservoir. The only negatives worth mentioning would be very weak water pressure in the shower and the garbage disposal in the sink needs cleaning. The smell was quite strong. Neither of these would prevent us from returning.
This house is tucked away almost at the end of a dead end street, nestled up into the boulders that are the hallmark of Prescott's landscape. Quiet, clean, and perfectly appointed. It was our second time here and we'll definitely check for this property first any time we're planning a trip to the area.
Great house to stay at while visiting Prescott. Close to town and had everything we needed.
Great communication with the owner. Can’t wait to stay again.
The cottage was super clean, cozy, and well decorated. Stocked with basic necessities, and is in a beautiful location! Hosts are really friendly and helpful too. We loved our stay here!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Sam Hill Cottage. It was a perfect location in a very quiet neighborhood just outside of downtown but close enough that we could get around very easily. The place was spotless when we arrived, the beds were very comfortable and the small living room was nicely appointed. The kitchen is well stocked with coffee and tea and has a nice gas stove and a table that seated all 4 of us comfortably. The outside deck was shaded and lovely. Lisa was very responsive when I called to tell her we would be arriving late, possibly after dark, she went over to turn on the outside lights for us. We will definitely stay here again if it’s available the next time we’re up in Prescott.
Sam Hill's Cottage was an amazing place to stay. Tucked way back on a dead end street, it was quiet and peaceful, nestled in between lots of big boulders. We had 5-6 deer come prancing up the road it was so quiet! The cottage was very well-appointed - as well or better than described - and we had all the necessities we could have asked for. Property owners were responsive and very communicative. We absolutely loved it here and would for sure book again for our next trip to Prescott!
Awesome weekend. Nice layout, lots of room for 830 sq. ft. The kids loved the history of the house. They also liked the rocks to climb across the street! Everything you need, coffee maker, oven, dishwasher. It was a lot of fun!
