Coastal Cottage with amazing views - Whitesands Beach
Lower Porthmawr cottage sits majestically above the internationally acclaimed Whitesands beach in the heart of the Pembrokeshire National Park. The views from the cottage are directly across the Irish Sea towards Ramsey Island and are truly spectacular. The vast outdoor garden features a sheltered patio area with a table, chairs and fire pit. There is also a gas BBQ to enjoy your dinner with a view!
Lower Porthmawr is on the same site as The Roost, the other property in our portfolio. Both available for combined group bookings. Both can sleep 5 and boasts 2 private areas for viewing the coastline and Ramsey Island.

Lovely cottage. Few bits of maintenance needed for little things that don't make or break a holiday but can make it less hassle. Plug not quite stopping bath water draining, half broken shower door handle, half shutting bedroom window, recycling boxes not where the instructions said, doors sticking, lack of extra sheets for beds etc. Lovely place just perhaps a little complacent because it is so nice?
Really comfortable pretty cottage with the most amazing views. Tipped with rain one day but happy to stay in , nice and snug , weather watching. Walks along coast from cottage. Even spotted a seal. Enjoyed the daffodil displays , people really friendly. Keen to visit again.
We just love this house so much, it’s the perfect holiday cottage. There was lots of nice new touches since our last visit, re-decoratex living room, new sofas, tv, bedding, soft furnishings and easier recycling which made it even better. The house was also super clean when we arrived. Communication with Marek was excellent, he was so helpful and lovely. We can’t wait to come back.
Beautiful location and a wonderfully cosy cottage, the perfect hideaway to unwind
Located overlooking the stunning Whitesands Bay, the cottage is perfect for a get-away-from-it-all family break. St David's is a short 5 minute drive away with it's shops and amazing cathedral, and there are plenty of things to do in the broader region too without having to travel too far. However, we spent most of our time relaxing in the cottage itself, strolling down to the beach, or walking along the headland. Really well equipped with all the 'mod-cons', and comfortably furnished, it was a perfect place to relax and unwind. We were sorry to leave and this is definitely one we'll look to return to.
A realy relaxing stay in the cottage warm and cosy eating breakfast looking out to the sea the area very nice local people very helpful nice store for stocking up on food plenty to see and do some realy nice places next to the coast on the way to fishgaurd nice to sit in front of the fire at nigth just chilling out will be staying here again thankyou .
We love this cottage. Having dogs and the wilds of West Wales to explore, its perfect simplicity means we don't have to worry about wet paws or wet people.
We stayed at the cottage 26 years ago with our two teenage boys and two Labradors. This time it was just the two of us, and what a wonderful week we had again in the tastefully updated and refurbished cottage. We compared our photos from a quarter of a century ago! The weather was kind, the cottage was cosy and warm with the AGA , and the walks every day were so enjoyable. We used the excellent Morso woodburner (we have a Morso stove at home) one evening and one chilly morning and it brought an added cheer, the expansive grass and exterior seating were first class. We had two spectacular sunsets, a beautiful rainbow, and saw many seals in the sea and in the coves. We even had a regular visitor of a Kestrel pecking away for insects every day. Without any light pollution, we gazed at the stars, the planets, the Milky Way and the Andromeda galaxy. Picking super-tasty Blackberries in the garden and the lane made for a healthy breakfast start to the day.
We particularly enjoyed the stunning views of Carreg Sampson, a 5000-year-old Neolithic dolmen, a seafood lunch at The Shed in Porthgain, and the best ever coffee at the Kiosk Porthclais. The cottage and the splendid location was so right for us and we hope it will be for others.
Excellent private location with splendid views. Good access to local coast paths.
There is an ongoing battle with woodlice but it has not put us off booking next year.
The bathroom is downstairs. Sadly there is no plumbing upstairs.
We had a fantastic week staying here, we'll definitely be going back. The property had every home comfort you could need and the Aga was incredible. The location was perfect for some excellent local beaches and although appears remote is only 5 minutes from St Davids.
Our perfect holiday cottage.
Sensational views. Walking distance to one of the best beaches in Britain and stunning coastal scenery on your doorstep. Add to that a charming cottage, tastefully and thoughtfully renovated with an aga and wood burning stove and comfortable beds.
If its available for your dates stop looking and book it. But for summer months it's often booked over a year in advance. We certainly can't wait to be back............
Great location and amazing old farmhouse, some of the interiors are starting to look a little tired and poor quality bedding/sofas. A great place wand provide logs and bbq etc, but let down by poor cleanliness
The cottage is perfect, so homely, cosy and perfect for our family of 4. It’s high up on the hill overlooking whitesands beach and the views are breathtaking. Great to be able to walk to the beach and so many walks to explore on the coastal path. The cottage is really well equipped, we loved the aga, had the most comfortable beds and a bath with the best view!! We loved it and will be back.
On arrival there was a slug on the kitchen worktop and numerous woodlice and dead flies on window sills and on the carpet by the windows especially in the bedrooms which made me feel sick. I have stayed in a number of cottages and never experienced this. We found the bedrooms particularly drafty. We had some issues with the electricity tripping, especially when we had the lamp hanging above the kitchen table on, in the end we did not use it. Overall we enjoyed our stay but because of the windy conditions outside had disrupted sleep. I cleaned up the dead woodlice a number of times but they still kept appearing. The log fire lovely and the view from the cottage lovely.
This was our third trip to this property! The location is amazing with stunning views over Whitesands beach!. The communication with the property owner was second to none, throughout the uncertainty we faced due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Lower Porthmawr is the perfect cottage for anyone wanting a cosy place to stay in an absolutely stunning location. We are already planning our next visit.
Everything about this beautiful cottage was outstanding. It was incredibly warm and welcoming, extremely well equipped and the views were amazing. It is a credit to both the owners and the caretaker. We would highly recommend and cannot wait to return.

I own both Lower Porthmawr and the Roost in Pembrokeshire which offer amazing coastal scenery and walking, relaxation and serenity, plus many adventure sports.
Please explore the site and choose which you would prefer:
The cottages are situated in one of the most amazing locations. They are in South Wales, 1 mile from St Davids, the smallest city in Wales, which has a beautiful cathedral and an assortment of restaurants, cafes and craft shops. However, the highlight of the location is that the cottages sit high on a hill looking directly over the Irish sea and across to Ramsey Island. The whole area, which includes the Pembrokeshire Coastal path - 180 miles - is a national park and therefore pristine. Whitesands Beach, beautiful in it's own right but also delightful for families with it's many rock pools, is also a haven for surfers and swimmers. The coast is home to many seals and the nearby Ramsey Sound hosts porpoise and an abundance of sea life.
What makes this property unique
The cottages are only a 5 minute walk from Whitesands Beach and the coastal path and only a 15 minute walk to an isolated beach inaccessible by car. The views from the coastal path are incredible, whichever direction you walk in. The cottages have a variety of maps and guide books to help you find your way around. We do take dogs on request and the surrounding area is ideal for them. When guests have discovered Lower Porthmawr and The Roost, they return time and time again. Try it for yourself and you will see why.
