Our 4 bedroom unit faces Old River, and is one of three 4 bedroom/3 bath units on property. We are on the 2nd floor in a low density building (27 units in all). This is a family oriented condo, is very quiet, and a great place to relax and enjoy both the beach and river. Our Condo is designed for extended families, as it has 1 king bed in the Master, 2 Queen beds in one bedroom, and the other 2 bedrooms have 1 queen bed in each bedroom that share a Jack and Jill bathroom.
We recently renovated our unit to include new floors, furniture, washer/dryer, and mattresses. Our family uses this Condo several times a year - so it is stocked with every cooking utensil, pots, pans, etc., you will need. We are very much into having everything we would have at our home, so all the appliances are new.
We also replaced all the tubs with walk in showers, and all the bathroom cabinets are custom built and new as well. In the closet we usually have fishing rods, nets, and even a battery operated bubbler to keep live shrimp for fishing off the docks (You can get live shrimp at one of the local marinas, or at Lost Bay Tackle by Rouses) Live shrimp is the best bait for fishing. Along those lines, we also have a stand alone freezer we use for frozen bait - if its in the freezer our guests are welcome to use it!
The balcony extends out, so you can see east and west for miles - it is equipped with lounge chairs and a table and chair set to enjoy the dolphins that we see every morning between sunrise and 8 a.m. We also have a outdoor chest on the balcony where we store beach chairs, a pull cart, and several boogie boards for your use.
The Unit has a gated parking lot and a private waterfront overlooking the Ole River and Ono Island. One of the best aspects is that Dolphin Harbor guests have BEACH ACCESS RIGHTS DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET THROUGH DOLPHIN KEY CONDOMINIUMS, where guests can access the beach on the boardwalk. NOTE: GUESTS WILL NEED A CODE TO ACCESS THE BOARDWALK, AS THIS IS A PRIVATE BOARDWALK.
Dolphin Harbor has 15 first come/first serve boat docks and a fish cleaning station for guests to use during their stay, for those who want to bring their own boat. When you leave in your boat, place the red placard (see picture) at your boat slip and it will be open when you return. There are three public launches just a few miles away (you can check them out on Google Maps), so access is quick and easy. Perdido Pass is just a mile west, with great fishing in Ole River, particularly early morning and at night on lighted docks up and down the River. You can easily catch a mess of speckled trout, redfish, and flounder in the river, or head out in the Gulf for some Spanish, or other deep sea fishing. Or buy a crabtrap and set it off the docks for a slew of Blue Crabs!
There are no boat trailers (or trailers of any kind) allowed to enter the parking area for any reason - there simply is not enough room to make the turns in the parking lot. However, we can help with locating a short term storage location for your boat trailer if needed, as we live in Daphne about an hour north. The River directly behind Dolphin Harbor is a no wake zone, with a sand bar on the north side of the River directly across from your balcony. You can anchor your boat next to the sand bar and allow your children to play in knee deep water, free from boat traffic.
Nightlife and your favorite places to eat are literally within a couple of miles, with FloraBama just 8/10 of a mile East of the Condo. The closest grocery store is Publix, located at the intersection of Perdido Beach Highway and Highway 161, just a few miles west of Perdido Pass. This unit is great for families with children, as you can watch your little ones play in the pool next to the River from your balcony.
Our unit is typically rented by families who want the best of both worlds - hanging out at the docks but also having beach access across the street. Our family loves the area, its quiet, low density, with a great balcony to enjoy the boats ride by or dolphins who swim up and down the river every day.
