About this property

Stone Croft, Barney, Norfolk

Located in the rural village of Barney, Stone Croft is a smart hideaway tucked away in a peaceful location. With a relaxing home-from-home aura, you may not feel inclined to stray too far but, if you do, you are perfectly placed for exploring the many treasures that both coastal and rural North Norfolk has to offer.

Stone Croft is an attractive detached brick & flint '70s house that has had a stylish contemporary facelift which brings it right up-to-date and enhances the light-filled and comfortable accommodation. On the ground floor there is a spacious, sociable dining kitchen with french doors leading to the garden and a sofa for chilling and chatting before or after your meal. The sitting room is a lovely sunny room, perfect for a quiet read or catching up with your favourite series on the Smart television. There's a wood burning stove to light too. Bliss, on a chilly night. Upstairs you will find three delightful bedrooms (king-size, double and bunk - all with televisions) and two bathrooms, one of which is en-suite. The spacious and private landscaped gardens to the rear of the house have two seating areas, one for dining and a second for relaxing. Another reason why you might just prefer to stay 'at home', particularly on a lovely summer's day.

Stay 5th - 12th August 2022

Lovely house in a prime position to explore North Norfolk. Cleanliness of the house could have been better, dirty windows, sills and outside seating areas. Other than that home from home.

Barney the owl visited...

Lovely property with all the creature comforts and mod cons, an escape form the congested urban jungle. The garden is spacious with two large seating areas and great to watch the barn owl(s) and bats fly over just after sunset. We were also lucky to see the Perseid meteors, the skies lived up to expectations Stone Croft is decorated to a good standard, comfy furniture, smart tv's and wifi will keep the youngsters entertained. There is a large playing field only a short walk away should you need the space. Unfortunately, the property is located just that bit too far away to walk to any pub/shops although its perfectly located to explore the surrounding area and local attractions such as Pensthorpe, good access to the main thoroughfares of the North Norfolk coast (A148 and A149) - the village could just do with a decent pub and it'd be a perfect location. If you're after peace and quiet after an hectic day of exploring and adventuring and are prepared to cook in the evening this is the place, however, if you wish to eat out in the evening then be prepared to travel. Would we come back? Yes we would.

A lovely holiday

Stone croft is a lovely cottage, welcoming, clean and well equipped. The garden is private and a great place to chill with a glass of wine after a long day exploring North Norfolk. A lovely place for friends to meet up and spend some time together. We hope to return.

Lovely Stay.

This was our second stay at this beautiful holiday home. Everything has been thoughtfully planned. The owners have great taste in furnishings. The beds are so comfortable & the garden is lovely. You can sit in the summer evenings and watch the sun go down. . If you are In need of some peace & tranquility that gives close proximity to all the North Norfolk beaches, this is a perfect place to stay. We are looking forward to returning to this little bit of heaven.

Wonderful holiday cottage in a very quiet location.

I can’t put into words how lovely Stonecroft was. The weather was terrible when we visited Norfolk but it didn’t matter because we had such a beautiful base to return too. The house was laid out perfectly with lots of nice extra touches. It was spotless. The only issue was the cleaning team waiting to get into the property over half an hour before checking out. This caused a little extra stress that wasn’t necessary. So much so we forgot an item or two under the pressure. We always leave on time. It just felt unnecessary.... maybe park down the road and wait until 10am?! Would still recommend and hope to return one day.

Excellent Stay

A lovely detached 3 bedroom house, spotlessly clean, lovely and warm and with all the facilities we needed for a stay. Although we were there in March we'd love to have been there in the summer months when we could have taken advantage of the garden and set and eaten outside. Dining kitchen was lovely, plenty of cooking equipment and lots of room. Situated in a very quiet location it's only 6 miles away from Fakenham or Holt which have supermarkets, shops and eating places. Within 20 minutes of the coast, its a great location for those who want to visit the coastal areas or visit the bird and nature reserves. There's also a bus just up the road that links you to Holt and Fakenham and routes thereon. We stay in cottages a couple of time a year, all over the country and this is one of the nicest we've stopped in.

Traditional yet modern

An attractive traditional cottage from the outside with many modern features that make for a very comfortable visit. We stayed in winter and the cottage was very warm. Spacious and well fitted kitchen come family room with a dining table. The cottage accommodates up to 6 people but bunk beds in bed3 mean that 2 of these should be children. The ensuite is a little snug but the family bathroom was certainly big enough. We were 4 on our visit for a week and did not feel we were tripping over each other; but not so sure if there were to be another 2 staying; although ours was a winter visit so we could not spill out into the garden where there is a large table and a separate seating area, all kitted out. Very good broadband connection. Parking for 2 cars at the front is fine but no more. The lane outside is single track so on street parking would not be easy/convenient. Quiet village location with excellent access via nearby A148 to much of north and mid Norfolk and the wide range of local facilities in nearby Fakenham and Holt.
