What a spot!!! The tides at the beach are incredible. We picked this spot on a whim, and we absolutely lucked out!!! Amazing amazing amazing. Thank you for everything- we truly appreciate your place!!!
This cottage was fabulous! It was impeccably clean upon arrival. It was well equipped. The location was peaceful, private and serene. The private beach was spectacular. The host was very quick to repond to questions. We loved that there was a hose outside to rinse our beach sand off! The ocean was warm and during low tide we had so much fun playing on the sand bars! Would highly recommend if you're staying on the south shore.
My sister and I enjoyed a lovely weekend at the Portside cottage in Wood Islands. Daryl was an accommodating and generous host. The cottage was impeccably clean, the beds comfortable, and the kitchen well-equipped. I stayed at the cottage while completing The Island Walk and arrived with a load of hiking clothes to be laundered. The washing machine and dryer were appreciated!
However the best part about the cottage was the beach. Portside is just steps from one of PEI's most wonderful red sand beaches where you can watch the tide move in and out.
My sister and I enjoyed our time at Portside and would strongly recommend this cottage.
Loved this cottage on the beach of PEI- amazing place to enjoy the tides and tidal pools! Quiet location with all the amenities we required - felt like it was our own little secluded haven! Easy access to everywhere else we wanted to explore on PEI! Great seafood close by to be able to cook on our own!
Absolutely wonderful location, steps from the beach with tides changing the sandbanks and tidal pools daily! A beautiful cottage, clean, well stocked and well maintained and a lovely home base for island exploration. That said, the location was so perfect, we soon put away our guide books and plans, choosing instead to simply enjoying the beach and spectacular scenery! A perfect spot to unwind and recharge!
Our party of 4 adults and one toddler were very comfortable in the 2-bedroom cottage. The cottage was equipped with all the essentials ++. The first half of our stay was wet and chilly but that didnt stop us from soaking in the gorgeous views and frolicking on the beachfront. When the sun finally came out it just heightened the joy of our stay. Highlights from our stay - fresh lobsters, collecting shells, exploring the beachfront, watching the tide ebb and flow, clam and crab digging (we mostly left them alone after finding them, but we did steam some fresh clams). Thank you so much Darryl and family for sharing your beautiful spot with us. We hope to be back for a longer stay next time!

Amazing week. Wonderful rental. Spectacular view from cottage.
We enjoyed our stay at this cottage. It met all of our expectations.
Darryl was a great host.
We especially enjoyed watching the tide come in and out, playing on the clean sandy beach, watching the ferries come and go and watching the seals. At low tide we could walk to the lighthouse.
It was a great rental to have our 18 month old grandson at as the beach area was so clean and safe and there was a great outdoor play area and a large grass that he could run and play.
We would definitely recommend this rental.

Comfortable, clean and minutes from the ferry.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Homeport by the Sea. The cottage was very comfortable, clean, and the view was great. At low tide it was fun to go out on the beach and check the tide pools. Darryl (and Chase the dog) were wonderful hosts. We enjoyed learning about lobster fishing on the island. Darryl was able to supply us with the freshest lobster we had ever eaten. So glad we visited in lobster fishing season! I recommend this property without hesitation. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Everything that we expected and more.
My wife and I spent 5 nights at Portside Cottage and could not have been more pleased with the property. The cottage was neat, very clean, nicely furnished and had a fully equipped kitchen. Darryl the owner is very responsive and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. The beach directly in front of the cottage is essentially a private beach for Darryl's cottages and although it was too cold for us to swim we enjoyed walking along the water and watching the seals or just sitting on the the beachfront chairs or cottage deck and taking in the beautiful scenery. Away from the cottage we enjoyed biking and hiking and taking drives to quiet local villages. The ferry terminal was only 5 minutes away so we took an easy day trip over to Pictou, Nova Scotia. For digitally inclined visitors the satellite television and internet work well and we had good cell phone service at the property. Although this is a great "get away from it all" location there is a nice grocery store plus restaurants/services in nearby Montague and Charlottetown is only about a 40 minute drive away. We would definitely recommend the property to a friend or relative and hope to stay at Portside again someday.

Another wonderful stay in Wood Islands
We returned again to Homeport properties for our 7th visit during the past 16 years. The setting is absolutely idyllic - postcard views of the Wood Islands lighthouse, PEI/Nova Scotia NFL ferries, red cliffs, etc. from the kitchen and front porch of the Portside cottage, which is set upon the finest sandy beach in all of PEI. Our 2 year-old grandson very much enjoyed his very own large sandbox, filled with red sand. Wildlife abounds, as we sighted Eagles, Ospreys, seals from the property, and also were able to go clamming at low tide. Leslie and Darryl MacQueen remain ever the consummate hosts. We look forward to returning again soon.

The Best
My husband and I and another couple stayed for 1 week at an adorable cabin right on the beach. We had a spectacular view, and a postcard beach to enjoy everyday!!! The owner spoiled us at every turn always checking to see if we needed anything, and giving us suggestions for day trips and how to make a fantastic clam chowder!!! I would definitely want to come back here again, and would have no reservations about recommending this holiday to anyone. This by far exceeded all of our expectations. Thank you for an unforgettable trip.

Fantastic!
We stayed here for a full week in mid July. The cottage was super clean and well maintained. The beach was just a few steps away and was lovely both at high and low tide. Low tides are fantastic for little ones. Darryl and Leslie promptly took care of all our needs. The take out lobster shack was just minutes away. Will come back again.

Awesome stay!
My husband, myself and two kids stayed a few nights. Super clean cottage with all the comforts of home provided. Kids had fun in the beach and when the tide went out. Darryl was very helpful brining sand toys for the kids. Local seafood takeout was a short distance away. Quite a few bugs as the spring was wet this year, so repellant is a must. Great experience and would definitely recommend!

Wonderful Beachfront Family Vacation!
My husband and two children had the pleasure of staying in the Starboard Cottage this past week (June 30 - July 7), what a place! We just loved our stay here; the cleanliness of the cottage, the amenities provided, the advice provided, the beach and all its beauty and the amazing views! We will be back without a doubt! Within a reasonable distance to the many excursions PEI has to offer yet total privacy here! All around a fantastic place worthy of your next vacation! This place is all it advertises and then some! Thank you Darryl!

Beautiful cottage on a fun beach
My husband and I really enjoyed spending a week in Portside! The cottage was fairly private and provided all the comforts of home and was very clean. Darryl was very kind and made sure we had everything we needed. The beach was very fun to explore as the tide went out and revealed several sand bars. It was a great experience and I'm sure we'll be back in the future :)

Always love it
We thoroughly enjoy PEI and when you want to get away from the hustle and bustle Homeport delivers. Portside is a wonderful cottage a stones throw from our favorite shelling beach, the water is warm, the water is shallow and the tide exposes a lot to explore.
If you're lucky enough that the tide is out mid morning this peaceful quiet location is perfect for sleeping in, but if you must you can sit on the porch and enjoy your coffee and the early morning light before charging out after your favorite shells.
The cottage is very clean, comfortable and well maintained by our friendly and caring hosts Darryl and Chase, although to be fair Chase can be easily distracted and soon diverts to the more serious business of tail-wagging and beach exploration.
We are very partial to the Woods Island area as it is is a fantastic starting point for beautiful country drives as this end of the island lends itself more to casual coastal exploration and ice-cream stops. There's a winery just down the road we love, and we saw a Monk! Can't wait to go back as we later found out that there is a newly formed monastery of Tibetan Monks. In PEI and just down the road!
Great place to create great memories. Thank you!
